I saw two shows on this tour when they came to Southern California, and they were two of the best nights of music I've ever seen. An actual dream come true. I felt very lucky. God (or whoever/whatever) Bless Green.
I've lost count how many copies of "Cupid & Psyche 85" I went through. I think it was like 1 vinyl, and 3 cassette copies. I beat this album to death, and this song is one of my all time faves of that album. It's so good to see them still doing it, and sounding great :)
Yeah, the vocal sounds good in this. Another one on Youtube sounded a bit funny but that was most likely down to poor monitoring as its evident he can hit the notes pretty much the same in the studio as live.
I went to see Green/Scritti last year in London and he and the band were great. I'm really pleased to see that a band I've loved for years is liked by others too.
Back in the 80s Scritti Politti seemed just another band, but saw a fascinating documentary on Green in Wales a few years back which showed that as well as being a decent and down to earth guy he clearly has great talent. The Word Girl has aged brilliantly and for me is one of the very best songs of the 80s. For a bloke who apparently despised the pop scene, very well done!
All I can say is that I think it was broadcast on BBC Wales. It must have been about five years ago., i.e. 2002. Really is worth watching and good luck finding it.
are they still around? Im amazed... still a great song tho, wish there was the whole clip.
BTW Jim morrison also was very very shy in the beginning of the Doors and he would perform with his back to the audience...lol. funny how things can turn out.
Green I met you at Minot studios 22 years ago! I brought you and your girl a drink at the restaurant above called Olivers...you came over and thanked me. You were a cool guy then and even cooler now! You sound incredible Live! You are so natural up there...the latest album is THE BEST stuff you've done in ages! keep it up!
Thumbs up if you searched for Word Girl PBS Show and found this

Green has suffered from stage fright all his life, which led to his first heart attack age 23 - yes those are his words to his songs!
