Your mom probably sucks at cooking for you not to like Cambodian food. I used to be like you to love American food than Khmer food when I was young. But as I grew older, I learn to appreciate Khmer dishes for the complex tastes to it comparing to American food. Steak is considered American food? sheesh, its just grilled meat, its so plain.
