    RIP Marvin Gaye

  • Sometimes something is impossible to describe without belittling it. Leon Ware created one of the best openings to a tune. Period. Amen

  • @Sal1675 Well said. I concur!

  • The best opening of any song ever.

  • Thats because it is the picture from good times.

  • this song is so powerful i fell inlove with this song

  • I love that picture in the video ! :]

  • you dont know music if you dont like this

  • 4 people don't know what want is.

  • SUBLIME!!!!!!!!!

  • I love, love, love this song!

  • A MASTERPIECE !!!!! THIS IS.

  • The artist pays the price because he/she is speaking for others that can not speak for themselves. We identify with particular artists on so many levels and once they accept our fanship they can't help but to feel our energy and then in turn channel it through performances. Artists images usually paint them in a light totally in contrast to their real lives. This usually creates an alter ego which many artist succumb to.

  • The 4 dislikes have never been in love before.

  • Love it for life mmmm

  • Music is not being made like this anymore

  • This song brings back wonderful memories... Im in a state of romantic nostalgia!!!

  • 4/1/1984, Music's biggest tragedy!!!! Marvin was the GREATEST!!!!

  • MARVIN...was the man...just can't understand all the pain singers go through...is it fate...what is it?

  • @pharaoh531 Cocaine and Religion

  • @Rhythmicons UUUUMMMM...i think it is a little deeper than just that...that may be part of it,but with so many singers, actors, sports icons, its got to be something we are missing as to why...

  • @pharaoh531 Isn't it a stereotype to think that atrists have to suffer? He was just damn talented. Money tends to make people test the limits of their self-control/indulgence. But if you think about it, people suffer the same things that the celebs do, it's just not highly publicised. Sometimes even their high profile status, lack of private life can be the catalyst. Id largely blame cocaine and race as some of the things that haunted/inspired Gaye. What do you think?

  • @pharaoh531 I also think that we have a tendancy to want to try to explain things that simply put, just aren't explainable. Human beings are flawed. When someone kills someone else or commits a heinous crime, we have to ask why. Theres no explanation for it, but in our culture (USA) we have to rationalize it somehow, blame something, someone, or come up with a definite answer when in reality there really is none.

  • this song is so mother!$*#*($& SEXY!!!

  • This is quite possibly the SEXIEST song Marvin EVER made!!! This beats Let's get it on and Sexual Healing for me!!! I FEEL the urgency of how much he WANTS to......OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! LOL YES!! *wet*

  • Sexy. Damn.

  • what 4 ppl have lost their music minds? lol

  • ...i want you...the right way...:)

  • Just an AWESOME song everytime I hear it! Soooooo SMOOTH

    R.I.P. My Gaye

  • of course i always knew he was great singer/songwriter, but ever since i read that he was great percussionist, i have been listening in a new light. it all makes sense now he has an amazing sense of rhythm and timing in his vocals, and songs like this and got to give it up are masterpieces of percussion.

  • @persebra I think Marvin Gaye began as a sessions drummer for Motown. A lot of artists discovered their singing & songwriting abilities accidentally. Bobby Womack described George Benson as guitarist who didn't know he could sing, etc.

  • Just a Great Man with a Great Voice singing a Great Song!

    Enough Said!

    R.I.P. Mr Marvin Gaye

  • 2. The soul is gone. Hip Hop and Rap was based upon degradation, a slave mentality. A white man called Black people the "N word" 300 years ago, (the man probably made up the word in his sleep) and the Black man still chanting the word like it some kind of mandra. I cannot bow that low, or be trained that well, lol. And the degradation of Black women. OMgoodness, no other race would tolerate that one. My opinion? The education, the class, the genius, the soul of our music is gone. Peace:)

  • How can ANYONE today compete with this? OMG....this is sooooooo freakin' smooth!!!!!!!!

  • @55peachpie Today's artist can't compete with this. They can try to duplicate it, but the soul is gone. Hip Hop/Rap cheated our music. Rap artists just talk over a beat, walking across the stage, just expanding the role of the dj. And the dances today, lol. Are riduculous. I went to a party, with mostly younger people, they were afraid to get on the dance floor, they stayed against the wall texting, lol. If someone dances, it has to be choreograph, and somebody have to count the shit off, lol.

  • @ohmaryjane i agree with you so much im a 27yr black man and rap as cheated black music. i quit listenening to rap 3yrs ago because like you said all they do is talk over a mic and walk around the stage.

  • @gla292 Black market strategist figured out the commercialization of our essence but will never capture the soul.

  • @gla292 I agree. Now I am into a lot of Rock, those artist never went off track. They play their own instruments, have amazing vocals. LOL, I saw a Rap artist, and all he did was walk on stage, back and forth, talking over old songs. I was so bored. We had the best music in the world, now, it is so watered down.

  • do not forget to mention H. Rap Brown when you talk RAP and the civil rights era was highjacked by the zionists... look into it.

  • @dnzcso, kindred spirts, maybe. Similar artists, no way.

  • Tupac and Marvin should not even be in the same sentence. Hip hop and rap is based upon people talking over old school music. Without any originality, without new concepts or soul, just complete degradation. Marvin Gaye was a real artist, singer, songwriter; Today's artists cannot compete with this on any level. Tupac is not synomous with Marvin Gaye, lololol. Hip Hop artists cannot compete with Old School music in any way. Today's artists are not capable of anything close to this type of music.

  • @ohmaryjane First of all Tupac is not todays artist he's been gone for almost 15 years.Second of all Tupac was a real artist & songwriter thats why people love him so much because he said what people felt.Tupac was real just like Marvin Gaye so don't start talking about people you don't know about listen before you speak...Marving Gaye and Tupac CAN BE USED IN THE SAME SENTENCE!!! Hip Hop and Rap is not bad maybe todays rap yes I can't lie about that but the 80's 90's to the early 2000's rap

  • @ohmaryjane was okay...

  • @ohmaryjane You have some great points, but back when Hip-Hop began in the late 1970's it was about originality, and while many Hip-Hop artists sample classic soul songs, there are many Hip-Hop artist who make original beats as well as those who have great lyrics as well. Marvin was a true artist who paved the way for many of today's artist to be expressive and to have music to sample.

  • @MUSICENCYLOPEDIA Hip Hop and Rap have original artist, influences of Jazz and amazing lyrics. I agree. But, based in degradation. Music like Marvin Gaye had it own soul that is lost today. Today's artist cannot compete with this, come close to any style of music that will last and last. Songs created today, are gone tomorrow. I grew up on old school, and what is suprising to me is that it is still so popular, our music did not continue to grow. My opinion? The soul is gone.

  • @ohmaryjane I grew up on Old School and I said that there are some original artists today. I do agree that most of today's artist don't compete with the classic artists and most sample classics

  • @ohmaryjane I understand that they are two different fields of profession, but in no way at all is REAL Hip/Hop degrading or a mockery. Its a verbal expression of how you feel, the inner struggles that Many of us go through and understand on both a deep and personal level. Its the voice of many youths that had no where to go, and no one to listen. Tupac expressed what he went through, his life, his struggles, and the many problems with society that not only he, but others experienced. Careful..

  • @lilrucus1 1. I understand it's the voice of the youth. In certain aspects, I completely respect it. However, I never thought the music that I grew up with would be still popular. Old school songs are more popular today, than they were in the past. Why? Because our music did not grow up, our music is stagnant. In many aspects it has been cheated. Artists such as Marvin Gaye, Jame Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Patti Labelle, etc. did songs that the young can only duplicate today.

  • Wow !!

  • the warmth of you, makes the territory outside of these covers so cold, Im holding you, as you hold me too, and our thoughts hold eachother, interlock, seeking words other than those said a thousand time before, its grown folk in bed here, we want something more, no games, no lies that we might one day say we never promised to keep, engage again then, with kisses too sweet, no retreat, love is deep.

    This brother was so sensual...

His Music did provide sexual healing for many of us during lovemaking

The first time I made love, "I want You" was playing on my cassette deck.

His music helped me, and HEALED during some very trying times......
