  • Retarded Arabs in this video! Negative Rating.

  • Indiana Eldritch parking his dusty HD motorbike before walking towards Petra with its Lucretia muse... Pinch me!

  • Love the darkness in this one, goth rock fantastic, his voice is incredible, I need this today :)

  • I heard Andrew still owes Patricia money.

  • An excellent band on video and disc, but really bad show!

  • Patricia is beautiful. <3

  • Andrew completely rejects the goth subculture- SoM doesn't want anything to do with conformity and never has. He just happens to express himself by wearing a lot of black, no different than Johnny Cash, and sings in bass and baritone.

  • For some time I wasn't sure if Patricia Morrison was a woman or a men...it were the 80s after all. But after some wikipedia I was asured it's a very attrctive woman.

  • I could never understand why Goths grabbed hold of SoM - when these guys were recording this stuff, there was no such thing as Goth, and Andrew never particularly liked Goth - I'm sure he thinks it's a ridiculous subculture, especially if you listen to his lyrics - he puts himself above all culture, to stand alone without social crutches like an identity group.

  • @bmasonic Not all subcultures are social crutches. Sometimes they are things people truly enjoy.

  • Thanks supersweet - interesting look she has and what a head of hair!

  • Wow! I just flew back 25 years! I love it. Who is the girl?

  • @NoTeaBaggers Her name is Patricia Morrison. She was a former member of Sisters of Mercy. She left SOM because of monetary issues.

  • This vid is put together better than all of the Twilight movies combined. and true blood. and vampire diaries.

  • the only gothic saxophone ever \m/

  • @wumpscut1 Nearly... watch?v=qnA8jBcXvUc

  • @wumpscut1 Did you know that Fields of the Nephilim had a saxophone player at one point? I don't know if he ever had a solo, though.

  • indiana jones and the temple of goth

  • sax solos are SO GOTH

  • I remember listening to the Sisters of Mercy one night driving back home from a nightclub in L.A. I'd just moved there to work in the music industry. I think it was actually This Corrosion that was playing when a white owl flew through my cars headlights -- eerily -- and just as haunting as SOM as have been for me. I'm glad I found these videos. I've been feeling old lately, but these remind me of good times. And I'm happy to see younger folk appreciating the music I recognized as genuis then

  • @Bloodfont89 how? If we are supporting the band how is it insulting? Because that's technically what you're saying

  • dok avalanche jamming away....

  • Yesterday, I saw a shooting star as I was listening to this song. I forgot to make a wish. Sisters of Mercy, you complete me. This has been a public service announcement.

  • מהימים שכל קליפ היה סרט ..

  • i remember my self, revolting 12 year old back then.. hahah my dad had knicked my tape if Sisters of Mercy too.... went crazy me.. Those times are long gone now.. Glad someone got this vids here tho :) Still great music!! :)

  • i raped the replay button listening to this song

  • @LuceroLucifer I rapped the replay button

  • @cloudycolacorp oops thank you lol

  • One of my favorites from this band

  • Great video, awesome song!!!!! <3

  • Essa música é foda!!!!

  • Эндрю должен был сидеть на троне рок-музыки, если бы не был таким распиздяем....

  • reminds me of indiana jones... funny ^^

  • @DarkRomanceRose It was shot in Petra, the same location where they found the Holy Grail in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Beautiful place.

  • In a recent gig he did in Moscow he rejects being goth. He said he only has to put on black socks and is seen as a goth God.

  • The Sisters of Mercy filmed their popular music video for "Dominion/Mother Russia" in and around Al Khazneh, thats in Petra ("The Treasury") in February 1988.

  • I just the bass, the guitar, the sound of this song. So awesome!!!

  • i think that site they are filming was destroyed by the iranians or am i wrong

  • @glenrock1959 You are incorrect. That site is one of the seven wonders of the world, it's the ancient city of Petra, located in Jordan, in the Middle East. There is no reason why the Iranians would have to destroy it. I was there about 3 or 4 years ago.

  • @glenrock1959 mkkl/jkljkljkljkl

  • @glenrock1959 Are you thinking of Bamiyan in Afghanistan, where the 1500 year old Buddhas were destroyed by the Taliban? Similar general feel.

  • GTA IV brought me here.

  • Funny how people can only connect this track to some sort of videogame. They missed out a lot.

  • @subfuscous Indeed, almost insulting to an absolutely fantastic band.

  • shes a great granny now.

  • the singer has the same face my brother!! Father, what did you??

  • GTA IV :D

  • @szkcs It's a cover... Iggy Pop made the cover.... it's good but not like the original. ;-)

  • @Schluglog

WTF are you talkin about man ??? Iggy Pop has nothing on earth to do with this song ... in GTA IV's liberty rock radio you hear the same original song like this one :)

  • this guy is like one from 'dick in a box' song :)

  • and yes, ken market. I remember it too, the smells..and yes, goths whose faces you just wanted to lick.......

  • it deserves it's place in time. I was there. I had the trousers. And we were cool.lolwicked.

  • One of these songs you are going to recognize after one second :) Simply a great tune!

  • That woman is so sensory and sexy. I just love 80's

  • Świetny kawałek. Już trochę lat minęło, kiedy słuchałam go pierwszy raz i nadal dobrze się go słucha. No i ten wokal ...

  • gta iv:)

  • Some goth kid on a subway brought me here o.o

  • I'd let that chick dominate me.

  • @RunkkaajaApina She is a price. I would not let that dominate me. However magnificent.

  • Remember the goths of this period, they were very beautiful, other worldly and haunting. They spent alot of time and energy perfecting there hair and the most beautiful clothes. Claudia Hazzard and the kensington market lot, in London. Today there a mess, a joke. Great times back then.

  • @MrRjmac There are still goths like those around, I'm 45 and go to goth clubs now and again and it's amazing the effort people a couple of dozen years my junior put into their makeup and hair. There's a multiplicity of styles now too--classic goth (like 1980s), steampunk, cyber, etc. For all its fascination with death, Goth will never die. :-)

  • @MrRjmac Probably talking about such goths: nowthisisgothic . tumblr . com

  • @MrRjmac Since the early 1990s, Eldritch has publicly rejected associations with the Goth subculture. He describes The Sisters of Mercy as humanist, modernist, and implies he wants nothing to do with Goth.

The Sisters of Mercy are Art-Rock Band, not Goth.

  • @anulafakes

I love the band but hate pussies like that. You cannot escape what you created.

  • @anulafakes I remember him saying that in an interview years ago and rightly so. He never wanted to be the figure head of the movement. Also his music tastes had changed he wanted to move on to other things. But they made the biggest impact on the scene of the mid 1980s most goths owned Floodland.

  • @MrRjmac Except there not goths. They're just messed up kids with no knowledge on the word "goth". You still get some beautys, but they are pretty damn rare these days <3

  • @MrRjmac

Do you post this on EVERY S.O.M. video?

    lmao

  • @MrRjmac That's very untrue there are still plenty of Goths who spend hours putting their look together trying to perfect it

  • turned out I was right S1867 this is about the cia dealings ..America sold out!

  • Patricia is utterly exquisite, such stunning eyes...

  • ke guapa en este tema

  • Comment removed

  • GTA IV brought me here... great song

  • Patricia is so bad ass; the hair, her eyes and just all round beautiful. A total stand out lady!

  • People unite, take back our heart. Don't let them destroy us all.

  • I'm not sure what this is about could be about Chernoble, could be about upcoming WWIII which is very likely,Russia and China have allied and this ignorant gov't of ours intend on pissing them off,our military is spread thin, but thanks to foreign troops negating posse commatitus they can be overseas and we can be fighting foreign troops here!Wake up AMERICA!..This group has real talent learn what they are really saying, listen to all their albums I have!Do this and get back to me good luck all!

  • @Ancientmirrors1 You do know Sisters are english right?

  • Good times in GTA IV running people over to this song on Liberty Rock Radio.

  • Talented and unique band

  • I did not hear of this band until 1994.

  • Dad's old cassettes sent me here.

  • Petra

  • I wish I was Patricia ...or Siouxsie...or Debbie Harry...oh well. Love this song, brings back memories.

  • Andrew Eldritch, so goth he can get away with wearing white.

  • the white is irony there in most of the eastern world see white as the colour of death the bandages the bodies would traditioly be wrapped up and buired in

  • This is my favourite video with the band. Eldritch has a significant touch of the standard Bryan Ferry look (with a nice beard) that was valid outfit in the 80:ies. He does a great job with the stuff too. Delivers the message in the right environment. Peak performance for a great song

  • The time when performers, authors, their music and videos radiated individuality, quality, integrity and meaningful messages. God treasure the 80's!

  • guys what about this song tell me plz

in another version they sing something about mother russia, here i see maybe middle east

  • @Weprvolk Andrew Eldritch said that the line "Mother Russia rain down" made reference to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster; in my opinion this whole song is about the Cold War.

  • @Weprvolk This song was all the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident that happened.

  • Very great video ! thanks. Dom Wave

  • Makes me think of Naked Lunch for some reason...

  • Comment removed

  • Patricia was so hot!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this. The soundtrack of my teen years, and somehow I never saw the video before today!

  • no mother russia?

  • @psofic2 This was the shortened version for release as a single, it would be awesome if the whole song was made into a video!

  • @psofic2

    Rain down, down, DOWN, DOWN!

  • was this video from the 90's what year

  • @meterman432110 This video was released in 1987. This song was a part of the 1987 album, Floodland.

  • @meterman432110 Sorry. The Sisters of Mercy filmed their popular music video for "Dominion/Mother Russia" in and around Al Khazneh ("The Treasury") in February 1988.

  • Nice merc!!

  • the cure, the mission und , und lauterbands aus meiner jugend und gruftie zeit höre ich heute noch gerne.fantastisch einfach geil

  • @noobsaibotmk10 thx atleast someone k nows liberty rock radio :)

  • He is sooo sexy.. and the 80's sax intro just adds to it..

  • I still love it! Patricia and he were the perfect team!

  • I have the weirdest boner right now

  • Don't you mean the 'Last Crusade?' LOL. Petra is so beautiful even in Transformers. In the heat of the action there had better be traction on those beautiful mares of the day! LOL

  • Don't you mean the 'Last Crusade?' LOL. Petra is so beautiful even in Transformers.

  • This video clip needs a shot of Patricia jumping the shark.

Floodland is where TSOM hit the sweet spot. And it was so beautifully sweet. I was 14 when I first heard it (on cassette of course!). Flood I and II, Driven Like The Snow, and Neverland. 20+ years later, they're still 4 of my all time favourite songs. ...And I still want a white suit and a sword to use as a walking stick. Sands stretch far away.

  • @AlternateTunerDotCom

I think I was 16 when I heard this album for the first time..

    How bad-ass!

  • @Ironhandjohn I think is was 2 weeks old when I heard this for the first time...

    I have a good mum!

  • @AlternateTunerDotCom .....I was in my 20's and in the Marines living in Hawaii doing the club scene. I became a Dj at a place called Phases that had two clubs, one techno, one new wave/alternative. You just walked thru a huge glass door to get from one to another......This is one of my favorite bands back then, and now. It was perfect club music. Floodland was a goldmine of good music.

  • @AlternateTunerDotCom I was gonna comment, but I'd only be saying exactly what you just did. Agree on every point.

  • GTA lol

  • Anos 80...os melhores...

  • PQP Sisiters é demais !!!! Passam-se os anos e estão sempre alí!

    Saudades dos anos 80!

  • Saw them in Tempe, AZ a few years ago and never saw a show with so much fog machine stuff going on. You couldn't see them half the time for the smoke. I mean the music was good but dang.

  • @CowtownJohn1 Saw them yesterday in Stockholm. Same fog machines. Great music, but as you said; dang!

  • I grew up with this song and the sound of the sisters *_*

  • Comment removed

  • waited 10 years for this but going to see them live 3 dec :D will be an evening to never forget!

  • What good memories from my youth...

  • Does the bit about the keno runner for the ddr and the 52 daughters have backwards masking?

  • @calabiyou I may be wrong but since he's talking about Russia and Moscow in the full song, the DDR stands for the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic), which was the Soviet half of Germany. The "52 daughters of the revolution" I was always curious about and I have no idea what it is about, but maybe some similar historical-political meaning.

  • @darkmannin The DDR was west Germany. East Germany, which IS the soviet half of Germany at the time, was simply called Osterdeutschland.

  • @musicman243 Not really. Like I said, the DDR was the Soviet controlled half of Germany. Easter Germany? Sure, since it was the eastern part and Deutsche Demokratische Republik was its formal name. You're confusing the two.

  • @musicman243

So if was called "Easter Germany"? I don't think so. As Darkmannin has said, the DDR was the Soviet occupied part of the present German state.

Forget ye not: whatever else he may be, Eldritch speaks fluent German.

  • does anyone know if the words in the longer version, when he talks about the 52 daughters and stuff, and the keno runner for the ddr. Does anyone know if that has backwards masking? Someone told me it had a message played backwards. Is that true?

  • First time I heard this song was on Liberty Rock Radio 97.8 (Grand Theft Auto IV)

  • The woman with the long black hair is Patricia Morrison a very good bassist in her own right, and yes back in the late 80's I was lucky enough to see them live, twice. Great band even is Andrew Eldritch has a huge ego, and yes Patricia still looks good today, just a litle older, but then aren't we all?(I am a 42 year old ageing Goth)

  • great song!!!

  • love this band so much <3

  • In the land of the black

    Be king, king, king, king,

  • @uzzan101 Land of the blind, I think you'll find. See? I'm a poet and now you know it.

  • @disgracelanduk lol I already knew the lyric I was just being a racist douchebag

  • Great song although not that keen on the video.

  • Andrew Eldritch and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

  • @mingerinc It should be 'Andrew Eldritch and the Last Crusade', actually ;)

  • I love it!

  • One day I hope to have hair as gloriously poofy as hers

  • Indiana jones sang that while he traveled to the temple

  • que buen video y la música hell yeah!

  • This video is in Petra ( The pink city ) located in Jordan ( my country ) :D:D oh yeah

  • Thats in Petra ( The Pink City) Located in my Country ( Jordan ) oh yeah !!

  • the chick reminds me of teri nunn

  • That guitar is the best thing i have ever heard! The fact that it's from the 80s makes it even better.

  • @BananaPhoneBanana

The best was Slash! And he will the best ever! Second is Patricia <3

  • one of the must have albums of the 80's

  • Andrew's beard isn't quite ferocious, but it is quite mighty in this video. The song therefore magnifies its magnificence. :)

  • You just know this song was from the 80s, even if you only heard it on GTA 4. It has drums, brilliant voices, all that, which today's music lacks

  • i WILL go to the city of Petra one day !!!!!!

  • @bettypro I live in jordan and i never been to Petra befor LOL

  • BEARD!

  • im a heavy metal guy and im enjoying this :O

  • lol this is not Dominion this is some random music video... But the song is pretty good :D
