  • Awesome, thanks!

  • This is great but it would have looked more realistic if you desaturate the greens and yellows

  • After adding noise, blur more, then adjusting levels, everything looks good until I click OK. It goes back to how it was before the levels adjustment (with noise everywhere). I tried doing the levels adjustments 2 or 3 times and it was a little better, but then, when switching to overlay, the image is turned really dark.

I went back a few times to make sure I was following the steps properly. What am I doing wrong? Or what setting is there that needs to be adjusted or reset?

  • @efransophoto I just saw that it should be "screen" and not "overlay". I corrected that, but the problem still occurs with the levels adjustment. I add noise, blur more, adjust levels, and once I hit OK, it acts as if I hit cancel. So I still need a hand with what I'm doing wrong with the levels adjustment. Thanks

  • nice vid bro help me alot

  • Nice tutorial! Comes in handy around this time in Vietnam :-) Many thanks for your efforts!

What would be the way to apply this technique if the image is high-res, say 21Mpixel? In this case, the noise is way too small, and the result will be very different. Thanks again!

  • more like rain :(

  • so important learning tool thanks.

  • Howard, Outstanding tutorial!

  • All you need to do is scale the noise layer so that the flakes are bigger.

  • hello very nice video but i have a problem my image is big that when i add noise its small and hardly even visible after its done do you know how to make the noise bigger or is there something else i could use thx

  • Thanks for the great tutorial! But normally you don't see shadows on the ground when it is snowing. Would you have a good idea how to get rid of those?

  • best way to get rid of shadows is to clone them out.

  • Very good tutorial !!

    Worked perfect (:

  • hi. I invite you to photoshoptut. pl

  • great

  • i have seen most of your videos and everything was perfect but the site learn photoshop now is completely useless

  • true. amazing. but you could add some clouds before simulating the snowfall for more realism. you only need to google some cloud brushesn install and use them.

  • Anazing tutorial

  • snow must reduce how far you see in distance... you need to put snowflakes around those threes and the house to make the distance more blurry

  • I love this tutorial. The instructions are crystal clear even to a beginner like me yet the attention to detail is amazing.

  • dude u r amazing! u need to make more videos on backgrounds!

  • Nice tut =)

  • Thank you for this tutorial it's excellent! May I as a question???

Are you using screenium for your screen capture?? If so, how do you get it to zoom in on the mouse pointer when you need it to??? This has been bugging me for a while!

  • @vannaz4

He's using Mac OS X as his operating system, it could be that the system has it's own recording program...

    I could be wrong, though.

  • @vannaz4 it's camtasia studio =D I got the crack if you want

  • the shadows are still too sharp

  • hey I have the same program as you, when I edit a picture I get the little hand on the cursor and I can not do anything, I switch to something else, you know I can do?

  • I don't even get snow where i live, never seen it in my life before... Coming into winter, we're getting overnight temperatures of around 10C... Some of you will probably laugh if i say that's freeeeezing!

  • @GT4GTR

    HAHAHA

  • Some clouds would be nice to make it more realistic. Rain and sunshine at the same time are quite common where I live, in winter sun is more rare but in principle can occur while it's snowing.

  • Luv your vids <3

  • How about a tutorial on adding facial hair, stubble or a beard.

  • umm. just a question, is there a way to make it keep snowing like a video?

  • yes, but not with photoshop ... after effects will do it though

  • PHOTOSHOPP'D

  • You had this video under diferente photoshop did you not ???Hmmmm!!!

  • I agree with alanb39. The shadow is a bit distracting too

  • That's alright. What I would have done, is probably make the sky a little bit darker, and add a very faint clouding effect. This doesn't seem too realistic though, because you can see light from the sun, on the ground.

  • Does not work for me.

  • why not??

  • awesome

  • great...

  • You do Great Work!

  • meh its okay

  • The author obviously never saw falling snow lol

  • not succesfull...the ground is still sunny!!!!! soooo ups!!! did'n think on that???

  • what is alter option?

  • @zrmarko hes saying ALT or OPTION.

if you have a mac, you have an OPTION button. if you have a pc, ALT.

    hope i helped!

  • Tnx :)

  • @zrmarko it's either the option or Alt key

  • @MissOliviaHM *pfff* what are you a henchman for mac?

  • No, I'm just helping out. Got a problem wit that?

  • I could swear that your post said "it's the option key" but I now see that it has both the option and alt key listed, I apologize I misread it.

  • how do you undo more than once? I don't know that... :/

  • Thank tou xDDDDD

  • control command z

  • I can do it only once like that...when I do it second time, it returns what I just deleted... :/

  • Thank you so much !

  • goog job!

  • You've never been to Sweden. Sunny weather and snowfall is quite normal.

  • yea my snowfall looks like a bunch of confetti falling down...i cant get it to go white.

  • cool!! i repeat this a hundred times!!

  • He set the "Layer 1" opacity to 50% then duplicated the layer, that means he set the opacity back to 100% but using two layers instead of one.

Also it seems he never seen snowing, with so much snow you are unable to see too far.

    ;)

  • @andrei030

Well, I'm not sure it's as simple as you put it.

  • @andrei030 you need to remember that he has set the blend to screen. So you have a screen blend with 50% opacity over another Screen blend with 50% opacity. It will give a different result to 100%
