  • I was minus 6 years old - who'd have guessed this would shape my musical taste for the future? Thanks Bruce, its been an epic journey.

  • I never did get into this mans music.......This is one reason why.

  • @heidiz4730 hate Bruce .... but love Nazareth.......strange...very strange

  • Surprenant !

When I was 8 years old.

  • How ironic is it to hear this crowd's complete lack of reaction when "the fine young song writer, Bruce Springsteen" is called to the stage...DO YOU NOT REALIZE YOU ARE IN THE PRESENCE OF GREATNESS?!

  • I was 6 years old----amazing

  • Is this the 1st video footage of Bruce??

  • Man this will be 40 years old in another year! Wild!

  • This is Roselita dressed in pre-producer naivete. You are very young here Bruce. A little nervous, and obviously cute (sorry but I'm a guy) You are easy to like. Even the bridge is the rosey bridge. I love you man. Good work over a lifetime. Now, stop voting for any candidates that you see on TV commercials. Vote only for no names.

  • @Ritchiemomitchie

I'm embarrassed I never heard the 'Rosalita' connection. It's so obvious now that you mention it.

  • I never noticed this, but is his eyes closed the whole time he's going through this song? It seems like he has stage fright! If anyone knows, lemme know!

  • WOW These people had no fucking idea they were witnessing Greatness

  • @RomeAndMarty4Ever Why would you assume that? We all knew. It was as obvious then as it was later.

  • This is actually from Max's Kansas City 1972, the same source as Growing up. Originally recorded for CBS Records.

  • OMG, he totally looks like Ben Affleck!

  • This is a new one!

There is someone else on youtube saying he looks like

    Sylvester Stallone!

I dont think he looks like either one!

  • @LanguorousLass

HOW DARE YOU COMPARE THE BOSS TO THAT NO TALENT F**KFACE OF A WANNABE, "BEN AFFECTED"................SHAME ON YOU. GET A CLUE STUPID.

  • the sometimeswhy are you talkin shite????

  • This is the genesis of "Blinded by the light".

  • MMM... RIGHT

  • i was at this show and met bruce right after he walked offstage. i was having a smoke, telling bruce i had to quit. when he asked me why i replied because it was bad for my lungs, that i was born to run. when i said that he got quiet and then said, "born to run?" i said "yeah, why?" he said "oh, nothin'..."

he asked me if i had a pen. i gave him my bic red fine-point and he said goodbye.

sometimes, late at night, i wonder, "gee..."

  • TheSometimesWhy,THATS why he didnt name it "BORN TO BE FULL OF SHIT"

  • really? i heard that was the "b" side...

    oh well.

  • WELL if it was,you should be proud, cause he named it AFTER YOU.

  • thanks for the yuks, boss.

now go take your meds and be a good boy....

  • @TheSometimesWhy

    '...did I lock up properly?'

  • @TheSometimesWhy

Did that really happen?? Cool if it did.

I've recently become obsessed with Van Morrison, who I'm convinced was a major influence on Bruce. When I listened to Van's song Backstreets from his first album "Astral Weeks", I always think man, Bruce got two or three songs out of that one. He knew inspiration when he saw it.

  • @greerlovesgovert : Yeah, it did. Then, later, he saw me and came over and we chatted for a few minutes, but I had to leave. He asked me where I was going and I told him that I had a meeting across the river.

As for Van's influence on Bruce, it's unmistakable.

All the best and then some,

    TheSometimesWhy

  • @TheSometimesWhy

Was this after you went to that Black Panther party, and played ping pong in China? Glad to finally meet you Mr. Gump!

  • @BaronM : very funny, baron. the pleasure is mine. oddly enough, it was after the party with the black panthers, i got the guys together, arranged to get us to china, and we played doubles ping pong there. how did you know?

  • Is an ackward mix of Mary queen of arkansas, Blinded by the light, Does this bus....basically the whole Greeting album in 1 song..amazing!

I was wondering is this the very first footage abiut Bruce?? look really the one!

  • well, you can see how this song morphed into blinded.

  • For what I've read, that's not actually band, it was Viny Boom but no Max W. and i think there was another guitar man and no Steve, but I have to have a look to the book again.

  • definetley the 'early signs of Rosalita! Very, very cool! Wonder if he had the band together as yet?

  • Taped at Max's Kansas City in NY in August 1972 -- the song most resembles the now-legendary "Rosalita," which would be released on his second LP a year later.

  • how did you get this footage? this is amazing! it sounds kind of like an early version of blinded by the light
