As far as I know, it's best to use a rifle.

Obviously the AA-12 has low range, and something like say, a 30-06 has great range.

Personally, I wouldn't take the chance of peppering a deer with 12 gauge pellets.

They also POW's or other military detainees. In a sense, they are pretty much the same as standard cops, only they are registered as part of the military.
