Well yeah it was better than St. Anger, but that's not saying much. It wasn't original in that it was just them trying to recapture what they had in the 80s with thrash metal, which isn't going to happen. If anything at all, it was the first sellout from Metallica. The first time they ducked in to pressure from the media and fans to join the whole 'return to form/bring back the thrash' movement.

Well naturally Bob 'agreed'. He's not gonna stand there and go 'NO! I refuse to produce your music unless you play METHVL!!1'. I was just saying that it was all Metallica's decision, not Bob's.

Rubin was also responsible for the worst produced album in the history of the band's career, while Bob Rock and his crew made some of their best, sonically.

Not to mention, IMO, Death Magnetic was an attempt at imitating the "real" Metallica. It lacked the 80's venom and originality.

Anark777 you know nothing of art. Realism had it's era, interpretation is to each his own. Those are all extremely nice pieces and any art collector would love to have them. Plus the fact that Lars owned them helps the value to go up. Art when off the market for years will draw a huge amount especially when owned by famous people. Not to mention these pieces stand on their own very well. Lars has good taste in art. Nuff said.
