I like the original look of the Cinema Capri with deep curved screen look as STAR WARS look like the dogs bollocks up on that screen.
Shame it was demolished and not simply modified I don’t like the square look of the new multiplex screen and is the sound system really that good as I’ve heard that promise so many times with new multiplexes and the sound is just too bright sounding.
@ykaens Oh yes so he does and its basically not a good image. I think if they did that in the UK they’d be sent to the tower for final judgment to remain in the towers dungeons of the smelly bog of internal stench. LOL
I saw Star Wars at the Cine Capri. We went to SW marathons for charity years later. I saw the Batmobile on display in the lobby. We saw Titanic there -- and I still have the ticket.
We all did the letter writing campaign -- nothing worked. The land was worth too much.
And with all due respect to Dan Harkins, the new CC's pale in comparison to the original.
They're nice, but not grand.
I'm glad I got to enjoy the original -- leaky plumbing and all.
Now about new theatres we had a real nice new on that recently open a couple of years ago that features all stuff the Cine Capri has here with a 635 seat auditorium and a 87 x 40 foot screen. But it carries a modern look instead of the classy look here (I would had love to see this, I am sure if Dickinson Theatres had this one it would look like that to resemble the old Glenwood).
Nice theatre, with some of the History kinda paralleling the old Glenwood Theatre which had a massive 816 seat auditorium looking kinda like the old Cine Capri there, sadly it was closed down in 2000 with the last movie shown called Keeping the Faith.
Well the Empire Leicester Square is the oldest theatre in the UK then became a cinema and its only had modifications rebuilt into over the years. The main screen 1is 1330 and boasts a whopper JBL 56KW THX sound system, the biggest of its kind in the whole of Europe. The screen has been widened only by 3 meters as far as it can allow for the size of the front WOW.
Its got digital and disconnected 70mm but on standby in the booth.
The front of the Empire kinder looks like the old Capri.
