He headed back to Kanto after Ash's Johto saga had ended, he remained in Kanto he captured Tailow in episodes between after The Lugia Arc in Johto and his return to Kanto Pokemon Special or Cronical Episode Oaknapped I think were in the dub he also captured Eevee =]

@Khyper87 Ritchie is represents Ash's inner desires and dreams, that aren't entirely brought to surfaces. Examples: Ritchie steps in front of Team Rocket's truck, risking his life to save the stolen Pokemon (Something Ash wouldn't do himself); also Ritchie defeats Ash, showing that Ash's actions poorly displayed his desires (Hence Charizard not fighting) and that he still had a lot to learn before achieving his dream. Also of note is Ritchie losing. Others' emotions of winning were stronger.

I actually loved his part in the game. The song is perfect, it's a great friendship song, and they had to struggle at first before they became friends. Hearing him say "Who's the best?" and "Don't give up!" reminded me of him and Ash battling, how they were competed, but he was more mature than Ash and tried to keep encouraging him. (:
