Spread potting soil one foot deep on top of what is there? WRONG. anything placed on top of existig soil needs to be tilled into the soil. Grass will not do anything in the winter like you claim "it has all winter" to get established. But again one foot of potting soil? You have got to be kidding. Have you ever considered the cost?

@gsdraiss wtf?? she's insane! That would be like $16,000 for a half acre of yard at $20/yd. Plus you'd either have to dig the entire yard down 1 foot, or raise your house 1 foot. No wonder her business went under. She also said "or compost" you don't plant grass on pure compost. You dont use potting soil either afaik. you use topsoil.. jeez potting soil is for pots.

I laid down grass seed and placed potting soil over maybe a quarter inch in depth and 710 days later I have grass growing it's just that simple. I just did this 10 days ago and now I have grass growing this was awesome advice! I mean if you think about it grass really is just a plant so why wouldn't it work, and in my case it worked FAST.

Visual aides, come on. Clay is redder or grayer than top soil. Dirt is the brown stuff grass is the green stuff. Summer is before Fall and Winter is before Spring. Water is the wet stuff that comes out of a hose.
