@fable2omg It only SEEMS sad to you. To me, this piano music captures the (irrational) optimism of the Soviet Era quite effortlessly. Can't you hear the flattened fifths, for example, at 0:43 or at 0:02? Those are supposed to express harmony, purpose, and direction... don't you think?
Say what you want ,,but NASA went to Russia inthe 90's and spent billions on test flights ,,,,reason being we do not have anything that cruises at MACH 2
The TU144 was the complete opposite of the TU114, which was a very reliable and successful airliner. The TU144 on the other hand was an operational nightmare - completely unreliable with multiple operational problems making consistent on-time dispatch impossible, excessively LOUD passenger compartment, totally uneconomical to operate and ultimately pulled from operational service as a total failure.
This plane was a serious piece of crap. The Soviet propaganda machine was fully operational at the time and not everything is as it seems. For instance, it was so loud inside the plane when in the air that conversation between people was impossible. The part of this video where it shows people talking quietly takes place on the ground with the engines shut down!
@beeroosterm: This person is absolutely insane! You can find his nickname posting virtually on whatever youtube Tu-144 videos, where he repeats his rubbish and bogus claims ad infinitum.
@vonkaunaz Insane? For posting the truth about this piece of junk? Please specify what claims of mine are bogus/rubbish. The bogus claims are from those who do not know the facts behind this very hastily designed and assembled aircraft. The Soviets were master propagandists and their citizenry had every right to disbelieve any claim made by them - except apparently where this plane is concerned. What's insane is that you would not check the facts before saying I was the insane one...
@beeroosterm I fully agree with you..this "junk" crashed at the Le Bourget airshow in 1973...soviet aircrafts were uncomfortable, smelly and for the users uneconomical..all the eastern-european carriers got rid of their soviet junk after 1991...who could run a modern, profitable airline withs such technology..not even modern aeroflot relies on russian technology any more.
man, i'm so happy to see this documentary. honestly, the way i have learned about tu-144 was so lies, about "copycatting" from concords. man, this is a completely new engineering marvel, i love concord. but this thing, is an amazing masterpiece. hail to the designers. its painful to know that these planes have been almost put into scrap during the 90s. i heard NASA is working with this plane, that's a good news. Respect to developers of this plane.
@nazirdjon You have been duped by the Soviet propaganda machine. You've been looking for "evidence" that matches your anecdotal understanding of the plane, and here it is - all neatly wrapped up in a color film put out by the government of the USSR at the height of the Cold War. Unfortunately for you, this film completely misrepresents the reality of the operational aspect of the plane. In actuality, this was a very dangerous plane and was forever taken off the flightline after 55 flights.

It looks like they pulled the interior from previously scrapped air frames, very scary.

A good documentary on the TU-144 is called Supersonic Spies done by NOVA. Old VHS copies are on Amazon for a few dollars.
