I used this basic recipe for a chili cookoff at my church and won for best wild game. Excellent flavor, just enough heat- really, really good chili! Thanks for posting.
I make a mean venison chili myself. first thing cook garlic / onion until sweet and brown. add some chili pwdr to oinion /garlic.cook for+ 4-5 mins.. remove to seperate bowl./brown vension in same pot but NOT LONG) ADD MORE CHILI POWDER. return onions to meat and then begin to build your chili with tomatoes and more adobe chile and cumin. YUM I love to use 2 whole garlics i peel and brown them first and by the time the chili is ready is like a warm buttery nut floating in your chili bowl
I'm not too crazy about venison nor beans. But then again; I haven't had it prepared pit boys style. Will have to give the local butcher a visit. We have some nice deer here in Sweden so the meat should be superb. From what I can cather it is often prepared with junipers.
hunting for you food is more natraul to me than mass farming also i think its better for the animal to be free doing what it wants to do as long as its killed quick and humanely there is nothing wrong with it
I am mesmerized by this video! I prepared this recipe for my middle school chili cook off and won! I added a little sugar, cinnamon and changed out the kidney beans for black beans. Then here's the kicker...I added fresh gnocci...I know, I know it was a weird twist...but it worked! Hats off to you guys!
Your comment about the culling of deer is on point. We have hundreds of deer in our area of our state, and have a legal deer hunting season each year. I am amazed at how many of my coworkers have deer each their gardens to the ground. Alas, no veggies for the family. I am new to venison, but have made several meatloaves, chili's and "Italian" sausage for our pizzas. Never had such a lean, flavorful meat. Gamey? Only if you don't season it! Thanks for the wonderful videos. You guys are the best.

Fresh shot meat is the best you can get. Especially venison! I got my venison meat directly from my hunter. (he just calls me, when he was succesful :) The thing is: you know the animal had a good life and just ate natural things, no bullshit inside it. You really recognize this, while preparing the meal and eat it!

@BarbecueWeb As an avid BBQ'r, you guys have my respect. I must've watched about a hundred or so of your videos as well as combed through your website and it was very informative, however, I do have one question. Is there a particular reason why you guys use charcoal briquettes instead of lump hard wood? I know it’s probably just a matter of person preference, but I’m still curious all the same. Keep the great videos coming guys! And by the way, you guys should have your own show on food network

I love Venison. That chili Looks great. Not sure who it was that said nice mule deer ,but a brown face and white tail? Look's like a white tail to me! Nice buck anyways!
I just picked up my new Weber preformer grill, and will be making chili with my fresh venison from this fall. I will be using ground venison instead though. Our chili is very close to the same as yours, but no beer! I keep my beer for drinking! LOL! I think I will listen to some Ted Nugent while I make my chili! Cheers guys!
You gave a very good reason for hunting there. This reminded me when I had to clean and cut a whole adult boar myself... Not being a girlie-man because I'm a woman. Hehe.
thanks BBQ guys for a great video and great recipe.. geesh,,,this kinda of thing sure brings out the wackos. what kind of country have we become. what happened to "land of the free, and home of the brave"?
@BarbecueWeb, what is the song you use at around the 8min 30sec mark. i've heard it on a couple of you're other videos and have always wonder what it is and who it's by.
Kinda odd, the same retards who claim evolution brought us here seem to be scared of what "their" 'MONKEY' ancestors used to eat. Seems hypocritical to me. Let's eat the heart! It is a gift!

Bob: "Now i expect we'll get a bunch of comments from vegematics, girlies, girly man..
complaining about how we can kill a deer and eat it in this chili.
Deer over populated destructed to farms, gardens, trees and even veggies.
Here is what we can find out to keep the animals from starving to slow death.
Hunting keep their hurts healthy provide high quality meat for many many families.
We give thanks, to what it sacrifised to the greater god.

Because of hunting the government can regulate populations for the healthiest survival of the animal. Just saying besides all that hunters pay for science. I loved the video, deer trimming tips and everything about it keep on bringin the worlds best videos to us all!

We don't need to justify the eating of meat. It has always belonged to mankind.

Hehe.
Damn, I'm hungry now...

@BarbecueWeb, what is the song you use at around the 8min 30sec mark. i've heard it on a couple of you're other videos and have always wonder what it is and who it's by.
Thanks.

Kinda odd, the same retards who claim evolution brought us here seem to be scared of what "their" 'MONKEY' ancestors used to eat. Seems hypocritical to me. Let's eat the heart! It is a gift!
