Good idea, however not having an iPhone myself I'm not familiar with the menu layout and even less so with the Japanese language. With subtitles it would be easy to use YouTube's language conversion feature to make sense of what's going on - in any language.
You have found the most difficult way of zooming in.

@wimbledonswirl It's not an app. It's a built in function on the iPhone 3GS and I'm pretty sure it's on the iPod Touch 3rd gen now too.
