The invasion was never going to be necessary, conventional bombings could have continued. It's not US hate. It's logic. Why is it that Nazi's get prosecuted for killing civilians (they're own civilians mind you) while the allies (including us) got away with utter murder? Spoils of war? rights of the victor?
@Constantine2609 Atomic bombs, big big difference from nuclear, much less powerful. Millions on both sides would have been killed in a land invasion so doing that saved lives overall. History proves that bombings alone do not defeat enemies, ground troops are needed. Fighting the enemy is not murder and what the Nazi's did is vastly more horrific.

And regardless of the INTENT of capture, the war ended with western europe very much in the hands of the United States. Japan also ended up very much in your hands. We didn't start the war, can't complain about how we were able to organize europe's mess. They were not directly under our control nor are they today, they are still independent nations. The invasion was never going to be necessary, conventional bombings could have continued. It's not US hate. It's logic. Why is it that Nazi's get prosecuted for killing civilians (they're own civilians mind you) while the allies (including us) got away with utter murder? Spoils of war? rights of the victor?

@Constantine2609 If it's meaningless then why do you keep replying? Evil is never necessary. Keep on trying to justify what Stalin and the Soviet Union did. Even after he died you did much damage to your own, not allowing them to leave is just one example, not to mention Putin and the KGB are not exactly honest either. It's odd how you seem to ignore what the Empire of Japan did to start the war in the first place, attacking numerous pacific and Asian targets, slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent people.
