If you want to learn to play songs by ear, listen to brian play, then listening to the original. and then maybe the next time you hear an easy sax solo, look at his fingers for the first note, and then sit down and find the next one on your own. play the first note, the second one, if thats not right then play the first, then another, keep going like that. If you dont want to play by ear, then you should give up the instrument.

In 1986, I was 15 and I heard Jean Michel-Jarre's Rendezvous 6 Ron's Piece for the first time. I fell in love with the haunting sounds of the sax. I am now 40 and due to some life changes, I find I have alot of spare time. I am finally able to take the time and learn to play. I may never be great, or even good, but I think the journey is worth while. Any pointers on how to start? I prefer the tenor, but think the alto might be better since it is smaller and I would have to play while sitting,,,
