  • i wish he fought in this movie but it was a sad and good movie 8.2/10 for me

  • stop fukin tokin abt history nd temme hw da movie is.

  • It's fictional, but is the truest portrait of the japanese society: divided by thugs, mobsters.

  • this will be more enjoy if it's in cantonese

  • Even though i hate seein jackie chan being serious, this was a great movie

  • Jackie doesnt hate japanese he just made a story that chinese and japanese fought

  • Wow, Jackie what a surprise, this is more intense than Police Story

  • Shinjuku Incident is the most intense, heartbreaking, darkest, most adult film Jackie Chan has ever done I was almost in tears at the end. This is a movie I can only watch once

  • @Foody92 Wow. That's some review. I picked it up because Jackie was on the cover, not knowing nothing about the film. I'm not used to him being in very serious roles. I'm kinda surprised to hear how serious this movie really is.

I'm sure I'll see it eventually, but now that I know how hardcore it is I probably won't be watching it immediately (I'm more in the mood for something light-hearted right now).

  • @WanzChanz you know why you know why bacause he dad died in the making in this movie

  • I don't care if he didn't use kung fu. This movie was a masterpiece and he was an amazing actor.

    Oh, and I cried.

  • I watched this movie with my mom the other day. The only part that I found hard to watch is when they stuck his hand in that machine and got it chopped off. I was like OIHJGVIORDFIOSJl. But it was a good movie :D

  • I like this movie BC Jackie Chan didn't fight...u probably know wat I'm talking about...great movie!

  • this movie remind me of my grandfather, he came from fuzhou to Indonesia in 40, his uncle brought him to Indonesia to have a better life, he brought nothing just a pair of clothes, and there are alot of chinese go to indonesia too at that time. they were very poor but they don't easly give up and very diligent. and now the top ten of indonesia's rich people most of them are chinesse. this is how we work we are very diligent and very hard working, and this bring us to success..

  • why would Chinese illegally immigrate to Japan? well, i guess its the same reason why they illegally immigrate to here!

for a better life! of course!

except China's elite class who enjoy a lifestyle as god, i would say vast majority of Chinese population still willing to immigrate to the West/Japan,

  • if only jackie chan would fight in this, he wouldn't be taking so much shit from the gang members !!!!!!!!!!

  • @J69WC well in the real world throwing the wrong words at the wrong person will get u killed.

  • The balance my dear nip friend is not that China "Benefited" from tech and edu from Japan after WW2, but that your country have sunken from a once proud and powerful civilisation to a humble, pitiful, weak, deprived race. Look at your sick porn industry, look at your suicide rate.... Thats what we call retribution...... And already, slowly your industries are being dwarfed by the Koreans and the once sleeping dragon.

  • @lerlo China and US is currently busy with economics war. Both country will collapse. LOL only stupid people like you believe in karma by the way Singapore have high suicide rate too heck Singaporean are weak! they can't even do a single thing against Foreign Talent from 3rd world country.

  • @StarfireAlpha haha..."China and US is currently busy with economics war. Both country will collapse", "Singapore have high suicide rate too heck Singaporean are weak! they can't even do a single thing against Foreign Talent from 3rd world country."

How old are you kid? What you said there makes no sense. Let someone older review your words before you make a fool of yourself.

  • Wow, thats not new, Japanese pigs have been killing Chinese for ages..They are decendents of Chinese but they refuse to admit it. Half their fucking words are Chinese characters. But they have their retribution, the two atom bombs, theres always ying and yang, there is always balance.

  • @lerlo As Japanese I acknowledge the basic Japanese culture is based on the Chinese one. But, I also recognize that the Chinese culture is not completely unique, partly coming from Indian and others. And as we had been given from China, China has received tech and edu from Japan after WW2. I wish you also had better understanding and impartiality (BALANCE).

  • @lerlo Lul at the racist comments on this video! The Americans that came on the Mayflower to the U.S. left Britain but we don't call America "New Britain". The attitude of pointing out negative stereotypes of a particular race is SO STUPID because there are evil men in EVERY SINGLE RACE. Why are there more executions in china than in any other place in the world? See I can pull out random facts like that out of my ass but it doesn't 'matter. Racism = The bane of humanity.

  • @moritsuna Oh and I should watch more Jackie Chan films from Hong Kong xD

  • @lerlo only dumb pig like you believe in retribution hahahaha stupid superstitious Chinese

  • @StarfireAlpha Dont be too arrogant. Karma's a bitch. Maybe today your bitch mom will spank you. LOL

  • 新宿黒社会 チャイナ マフィア戦争

  • I felt sorry for Daniel Wu's character in this movie =(

  • I don't know all of the history between China & Japan but I read about the Rape of Nanking and I talked about it with my sister's boyfriend (he is Japanese) and he is ashamed of it. Every country has done something horrible at one point or another...and some have done more things than others, but over all we should just look to the future instead of looking back. I'm Armenian & Turkey tried to exterminate all Armenians 100 years ago but I do not hate Turkish people. Too much hate in the world.

  • It is a delight watching Chan play other role than the usuals.. the plot is pretty good too.

  • chinese waste of the world.. and fish stoler..

  • @ewankosyasklr go get educated and then talk. fuckin guala guala

  • @ewankosyasklr tell that to one chinese man and you will see a flood of chinese coming for you with machettes. shhhhhhh

  • lol ><` i guess the Chinese dnt make for gd Yakuza, i feel sad for Baby Ayako and the mother Yuko ... Wonderful movie` anywai

  • 1:01 looks like jet li?

  • Jackie Chan plays a bad guy but a good bad guy!!! Can he play a rally bad guy?

  • i think jackie chan did something very poetic its much different tune from his action and comedy films

  • @TheNekoman123 I think Jackie Chan should make more movies like this!!!

  • @furakkueroru i like this work its a definit change in jackie chans usual cheerful action flicks and comedy flicks so i mean this is very good however its better if they did not dub the film

  • @TheNekoman123 I never choose the dubbed version I would rather watch in Chinese with subtitles always!!! BTW Robin B Hood was shit!

  • Shinjuku Incident and The Spy next Door aRE BOTH GREAT! Jackie Chan is the greatest!

  • My favorite movie! it was great! I like this kind of movie which potentially could be real

  • i was reading the comments below but it seemed like spoiilers to me so i turned my head and starting saying gibberish. I'll watch the movie now.

  • @callofdodo yeah exactly, bunch of fuckheads trying to ruin the movie for the rest of us

  • U FUCKS, in the end i think Jackie dies in the sewer - i was thinking he would float back to china. But i think the sewer suggest he felt that he did wrong (yakuza, selling shit, killing for money) and so he should die an unhonorable death.

They is a saying, don't let the green grass fool you. The chinese village dudes thought that they could have better lives in japan, but they were fooled by greed, and the dark underworld of gangs and violence

btw, this is one of my favourite films ^_^

  • ending sucks. what happen to xui xui and shit.? is there any end? shittt any chinese survivors that end up fucking up the yakuza??

  • @Wotansrabe666 get a life Ok A LIFE AND respect others because If someone calls you this u'll be eating ur bat m8

  • seriously it's too much i mean just compare how funny jackie is on american films to how extremely tragic he is in this film i'm starting to think japanese are real sadists

i mean i can't think of a japanese movie i've seen with a happy ending

the movie was all full of drama after drama one horrifing event after another so at least LET THE DAMN GUY LIVE AT THE END doesn't anybody deserve happiness in their opinions ? and considering he was a real nice guy too

  • penis

  • THIS WAS GREAT

  • there is no doubt there needs! to be more films like this instead of waisting money on films like avatar its all about the story dont need no special effects

  • lol dude AVATAR IS THE MOST EPICST MOVIE IN THE WORLD it is the best this 2 :D

  • Even though he doesnt do any kung fu, this is my most favorite Jackie Chan movie. I love this movie more than Avatar.

  • @DUY1337GUITAR Well Avatar sucks. It has the same story as Disney's Pocahontas and everything in Avatar is predictable - what's epic about that? Anyway I'm gonna check this movie out for sure :)

  • Comment removed

  • this movie is supposed to suck xP

  • fucking epic movie :)

  • I hate seeing Jackie cry =(

  • @JamezTrizzang and die =(

  • this movie is so emotional..T-T

  • jackie's acting was AWSOME !!in this movie...very different role....n the climex rock......

  • This movie is so sad! I like the fact Jacke didnt need to use kung fu to be amazing. Must see!

  • @Evoshek totally agree with U.

    Jackie's a great actor.

  • how come jackie chan didnt beat the shit out of those japanese guys using kung fu like in his other movies?????

and did anybody notices that in the movie instead of import cars, the japanese drive those dub cars that black and mexican drive around!!! not tryin to be racist here

  • @yangstaboi06 in the movie, jackie chan was meant to look like a weak guy. its not like EVERY single one of his movies has to be crazy kung fu right ? :P

  • Yesterday I was waiting for boxing broadcast in TV, trying not to fall asleep, just watching music channel, and suddenly I found that movie, I used to like old Jackie's movies, but nowadays I thought that this guy can't surprise me. Mistake- 'SI' is perhaps naive in few scenes but also rough, astonishing and totally gripping- sth like Scarface but on the other side of Globe. For me strong 8/10

  • China is the biggest economical super power in the world and can buy usa.

  • This movie was sick! Kind of disappointing ending though.

  • can anyone explain to me why so many chinese were immigrating to Japan?

I'm assuming it's just better lifestyle but then why Japan, why not just some big city in China like Beijing, Shanghai, or even Hong Kong?

  • What the heck dude, i asked a simple honest question with no disrespect intended.

the movie is about a huge influx of illegal chinese immigrants to Japan in the 90s. So I just asked if anyone knew why so many chose to immigrate at that time. I didn't plainly ask why chinese immigrate. if you would've used your head instead of immediately getting hostile and pegging me as stupid you would've realized that.

the irony of you accusing me of not thinking before i talk is hilarious.

  • @hardr0ck people never realize about nothing... they always are getting mad with any1 who isnt agree with others.. withouth stop and reading throughtly... Anyway I'm going to give a chance to this film.

  • @hardr0ck They immigrated i believe for the same reason when they immigrated to British Columbia back then. They wanted a new life and thought that they could earn more money and bring it back to their family in China.

  • @hardr0ck - you tell him bro. there are a lot of "smart" people here jumping into conclusions.. theyre all so smart they all should be named aleck.... smart aleck know it alls... peace...

  • @hardr0ck

Hi, I'm a Chinese from Hong Kong, and now I in US for college.

the reason why Mainland Chinese illegally immigrate to JP is complicated, from what I know, the most important reasons are these:

    1.The Tiananmen incident in 1989.

2.In 90s many people realized the gaps of development between China and western world like JP or Hong Kong.

    3. North East China has been colonized by JP from 1931-1945, there are many JP orphans.

PS. Don't blame them, they just wanna a better life.

  • @Cloudynight327 i dont think japan is the place to go for chinese people.. just dont think it was the smart thing to do. well at least during that time. still so many imperialist japanese.

  • if you're talking about some of the first chinese immigrants i believe they were migrant workers on the transcontinental railroad.

  • sorry i thought you meant US. it was the chinese who brought buddhism into japan.

  • because is in the 80~90's it was before the economies boom. immigrant drop alot, some actually go back to China. some other people immigrate to China because of the boom.

  • @hardr0ck many seeked a better life so with JP closer it was easrier for some.

a Big city life with more freedom. many were discriminated against. But many also went to the US. for education,Job,Business reasons. many chinese do love their home country but want a chance to make money & someday Return. many are throught the world, USA,Japan, Korea being the top places to go.

  • @Raymasaki

korea sucks btw, they don't got shit.

  • very good movie, and as well as sad too

  • I don't know what good in this movie, I've been expecting much more, it's the worst his role.

  • too serious movie need to know at least something about Chinese hystory

  • WTF are you shit retarded? You don't fucking know who Jackie Chan is? You a fucking rock on a stone mountain? WTF? You fucking rediculous? Sticks, you're a buncha sticks.

  • i love these Dutch films.

  • Dutch?? this is not a Ductch movie :P its a chinese production

    PS. Loved the movie

  • I watched the movie last night and it was amazing!

    10/10

  • i need to get this asap i hope hmv have it, doubt it though zavvi would have had it for sure

  • In Chinese and Japanese, sounds cool :D

  • i have a question...what is the myth about the shinjuku ghetto?..

  • hmmmi thought the shinjuku district was filled with mafia crime members and illegal activities

  • I watched yesterday the bluray ! awesome movie !!

  • can't wait to watch it

  • amazing movie.

  • jackie chan in a drama? what!? should be interesting.

  • @jguerrero3192 oy veh. I would say I would watch it...but my grandma is going to go with me. oy

  • "APOLOGISE!!! APOLOGISE!!!"

  • The film couldn't be more violent than the countries govn't. I love how a film is too violent to be released in China

  • WUAUUUUUUUUU

  • Thanks for posting spoilers, really appreciate it.

  • its a good movie but its not a Jackie Chan movie.. in my opinion. He doesn't do ANY stunts and that was what i missed in this movie.

  • u got to understand jackie is getting old. he doesn't have the strength as he used to be..... + he had so many injuries....... that's probably backing him him up on doing stunts... ..

  • well 1 of his newer films the spy next door he still does some very good stunts not that big but still very good

  • So if Jason Stathams first movie was Transporter, all his other movies after that would have to have him doing car stunts and martial arts?

  • it was supposed to showcase Jackie's "Acting" Skills. Personally i think he did pretty well in it

  • you are an a s s h o l e!

  • Fucking asshole. Some of us were really looking forward to seeing this movie

  • @lightbulb911 Next time put a big ~SPOILER ALERT~ sign okay.

  • This Movie was 4 my oppinion one of that kind of movies from Jackie Chan which show us the reality. It was a great movie !

  • felt bad for Daniel Wu in this movie, for got beat up then lost his hand then died of drugs

  • For those of you expecting another Chan romp ala Rush Hour and Supercop, you may find yourself refreshed at Chan's sudden change of pace. For those who like crime dramas such as City of God, give this one a shot. get the full movie at BigOnlineMovies . c o m

  • I was wondering what medium did the casts use to communicate with each other whilse shooting the film or even break time. I mean, Chinese do not really speak Japanese and vice versa. Do they need an interpreter or are they speaking English? Great movie anyways!

  • Just because they are Chinese or Japanese, doesn't mean they are limited to speaking that language.

  • Amazing movie.

  • Good movie but the ending sucked i.e. what happens after Jackie gets shot by the yakuza guy. Why the hell does he go back into the sewer? He's not even going to try and survive for the sake of his girlfriend? He's counting on the cop to go and look for him or else all the yakuza files would've been lost? Wtf? Are we to believe that Jackie thought a poetic death would outweigh these factors?

  • so he dies right?

  • @WeiGuoZ Sooo your THAT guy. Sheesh

  • @WeiGuoZ nice spoiler on a fucking trailer video go post your shit on a movie forum

  • @WeiGuoZ dude jackie died because he knew the police would chase after him for killing all those leaders. He lost the hope to live because his brother's die and his gf broke up with him when he told the detective that he kill those men. I made my point clear and go talk shit somewhere else.

  • @WeiGuoZ Yeah, I just saw the movie yesterday and the ending was a huge disappointment. Theres so many WTFs at the end.

  • @WeiGuoZ yea and his brother was a big douche in the end. I felt really sad for him when his hand got cut off.not a movie i wouldlike jackie chan in

  • @WeiGuoZ thanks for not giving away the plot

  • i just saw this film and i feel that i didn t waste my time...Jackie chan has proved the world that hes not just an action hero(i love him as an action hero)he can act,he is a great actor,as good as the greatest(something that i always knew) but is a pity that hollywood make him made shittys like the next spy next door or the remake of karate kid...Anyway Jackie chan forever....love this film

  • Good movie for Jackie Chan to be out of character, building an empire only to have it crumble,

  • good, but sad movie... has a negative impact on you...

    especially near the end.. ughhh

  • awesome movie

  • Awesome movieeee just watched it

  • hehe fun film.

  • I would love to sell my DVD of this.

  • does he fight in this movie because i heard he doesn't???

  • no he doesn't =p

  • there is no kung fu in this movie, but a lot of fights

  • there is some fight scenes, but there not his choreographed works. It not the kung fu he always does

  • Jackie Chan shooting a gun just didn't look right. His movies are always so joyful it's strange seeing him in a movie like this.

  • he needs to make more movies like this in the US. Serious movies or something epic like 300 style, violent. Hes always talkin about reinventing himself.

  • It was ok but it was not a fun film.

  • course it's not fun... u expect it to be fun in these kind of movies? u're weird

  • yeah, if you look on his biography, he states alot of what this movie is about as if he sees China and other Asian countries are losing their ways which is clearly portrayed in the film. Its like a bad transformation where it used to be mad kung fu to now sadly shoot em up. In 50 years or so, kung fu in movies will be hardly seen. 8(

  • i love shinjuku!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • real sad movie....just recently bought it and its not what i expected but still a great performance from jackie as always

  • Nice

  • BAO QIAN BITCHES.

  • hahaha a very fresh perspective movie from JC...thought it was awesome with crazy brutal violence though not as brutal as the saw head scene in scarface...yes this is somewhat like scarface except is chinese immigrant build power in japan and gang wars with knives instead of guns

  • This was such a mad movie. I was so surprised during the ending.. I just expected a happy ending like most Jackie Chan films lol. XD

  • The Shinjuku Incident was released on April 2, 2009. It's not from 2008.

  • isn't this just the chinese/japanese version of "gangs of new york"?

  • japanese still blame chinese and foreigners for crime in japan

    LOL

  • you know we are everywhere because we are big, we spread all over the world. In England we are the biggest , in Russia we are the biggest, in 1990 the 14k have 140,000 actuall gang members and 200,000 more that is not offically accpet as a gang member but related. I say next time think before you say something.

  • Well if all you are saying is true, and you are a gang member, whats the big deal? what can you do to people that dont even live in the same continent that you do?what will happen to me if i say to you go fuck the goat that you have for a mother? Please enlight me

  • Scary..

  • great movie

  • lots of racism goin on in this movie

  • good movie. its too bad jackie wont use kung fu in this one. whoo i still remember the intestinal tracks falling out of the poor guy stomach. sry too much info.

  • lol yea that part was disgusting but i wanted that guy to die for some reason

  • yea that part was.... damn...... never take drugs

  • The ratio in a fight is 5 asians to 1 westerner...so grab ya guns and swords asians coz your gonna need them.

  • True. Asians will go after your family too. Sometimes they won't go after their intended target, but their intended target's family. So if you kill some Asian, their relatives won't necessarily go after you, but your family members.

  • Jackie in drama... Much better than all that kung-fu roles. His face is so sad in this movie, great acting)

  • This is a great movie - saw it last night, will recommend to all my friends

  • I saw this movie yesterday! For me, it was a great movie. But I'll never watch it again. All the gang stuff scared the heck out of me. =__=

  • wat the fuck??? the real triads from hong kong would fuck up all these japs

  • A man with a gun with an intent to kill is just the same as a man with a gun with the intent to kill. Doesnt matter what nationality all countries have their strong men and all can be just as bad.

  • It's not about that.

  • Yes but they're not in Hong Kong, they're in Japan. And Hong Kong did not welcome iis from China much more than the Japanese did

  • lol but hong kong does now, but STILL! TRIADS RULE!!!!! fukin yakuza pussys can bow to my fish !!! LOL

  • You dont really know who would beat who in a fight.

Chinese have triads, Japanese have Yakuza

    both very dangerous,
