  • Howard asked how could anyone defend the accused central park rapists. Well it turned out those kids were innocent and the confessions were coerced. 12 years later the actual rapist was found and DNA evidence confirmed he was the only one guilty. The accused kids didn't even know the guy.

    Actually the prosecutor REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE preliminary evidence that the DNA-confirmed rapist knew one of the possibly-innocent/possibly-gui­lty guys. They dropped the ball and refused to follow-up, as the kid's sentence was already over.

    P.S. DNA evidence cannot "confirm he was the only one guilty," the others coulda just worn condoms or beaten but not raped her. One of these "innocent" kids was later convicted for a separate crime.
