@Nitro888888888888888 Actually I really like the rubber end seals. The only time I have seen one get sucked in was when someone had used silicone across the whole seal.
@MudRFunR Haha I almost did today too when i did it. I'm having a issue though I'm having a small oil leak now and i hear a ticking noise like a lifter is stuck with gunk or something.
@josh666675 Was this a rebuild? or what's the milage on the engine? Were you just replacing the gasket or was there other work done on the engine? Where is the leak?
@josh666675 If you used the rubbers on the ends of the intake, it sounds like it slipped out of place. (often this happens) If you can get at the back of the intake, what I have done before is warmed up the engine, wiped off the area that is leaking a smear silicone into the crack where it leaks. Let the silicone dry completely before starting the engine.
@josh666675 If your engine is gummed up, you could try engine detergent. I had a gummed up V6 and used CD2 engine detergent. You just add it to your oil. (no oil change necessary) If your engine is otherwise healthy?...stomp on it occasionally afetr you add the detergent. Worked great for me...lots of black smoke till it cleaned itself out.
@apewings No problem! The only reason I hadn't posted this was cause I screwed up by forgetting to take the rags out. Oh well I sucked it up and posted it anyway. Keep in mind the Spray Tack and the aviation glue is not necessary on a new gasket.
@MudRFunR i was always told to completely cover the intake side of the gasket with sealer no? ive seen videos where some people do it and some dont, so im not sure exactly what to do. btw, those little rubber seals are shit, just use rtv :p
@RicerEater1978 I've always been told not to use anything on an intake gasket except the RTV in the corners. Some intake kits don't even come with the end rubbers. I find that if you are careful to keep the rubbers in place when you set the intake down they will hold up longer than just RTV but either way works. One thing I've seen someone do was use silicone on the entire gasket and that was a NO NO!
@MudRFunR alrighty, ill try it out. i had to replace mine cuz i was leaking antifreeze everywhere. so i ported a set of heads and decided to slap that on as well. and its not the end seals squeezing out, ive heard that they often blow out after you have them on. ive seen a couple videos like yours so ill try it out
@RicerEater1978 The end rubbers usually have little tabs to keep them in place. If you use silicone on the ribbed area of the rubber, they do tend to slip out. ( silicone is very slippery)
@demoguy40 Well it almost happened. I torqued the intake that evening and the next day I had to watch the footage just to know for sure. My wife she to was saying to herself, no no no don't do it!
@MudRFunR Well, as it is I have made some of those little mistakes myself, easy to do when you have focus on other things, like getting the seal right :o)
WHAT AN IDIOT...THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF i SEE ALL THE TIME IN MY SHOP....THIS IS WHY I'M SO BUSY, BECAUSE OF DUMMIES LIKE THIS GUY

@MudRFunR No rebuild just doing intae gasket's. And in the far back of the engine towards distributor.

What about the paper you have in the intake ports... might be good to remove them before starting the engine... even gefore mounting the intake ;o)
