shottut, she also ran in Gateshead (after the games) and she was certainly not booed there. There was negativity, but that surrounded the legitimacy of the 10.49 – which was somewhat dispelled by her performances in Seoul. My point is that the scepticism over her drug use was not that prevalent at the time.
Flo Jo 10.49; Flo Jo 21.34; Marita Koch 47.6; Qu Yunxia 3:50.4; Wang Junxia 8:06.11; Wang Junxia 29:31.78
All untouchable by current athletes. 10.49 and 8:06.1 may not be broken this century even. (Jelimo at least proved the 800WR is possible, albeit very hard, coming within 0.8)
FloJo was GLORIOUS! People making absurd claims about her legitimacy are so tangled up in assumptions, lies, misinformation and speculation. LIVE AND LET LIVE. Drug testing was stringent and in place in the 80s.
Prior to these games she ran one race of a proposed european tour, in Turin Italy. She was booed off the track, and thus she cut her european tour short. The ever knowledgable european track fans were having none of it. They knew she was not legit.
But hey it was never proven so we have to accept it. I hope it was without drugs because she did run some spectacular times. 1 more thing i watch all the grand prix etc i never hear hear name pop up when it comes to commentators referring to the greats.
you have got to be kidding. how many women broke 11 sec in this final? Half the field? They were drugged to the gills. The fact that Marion was unable to touch FloJo's 10.49 record has less to do with the quality of drugs she was on, and much MORE to do with the quality and strictness of testing now in place in the U.S. FloJo raced in an era where she could put almost anything in her body during training phases, without the danger of a random drug test to get caught. Marion not so much.
Well Marion Jones was a proven cheat using the BEST drugs ever and she couldnt do it! I find it funny that no one seems to recall her autopsy being done where they were looking for any trace of drugs and they found NOTHING! Being Good just isnt enough for some people! good for 6 months! LOL! She was a medalist at the previous Olympics! 4 years of training and her body at the peak will certainly move GOOD to GREAT! Jealousy is simply average seeking more!
You figure an autopsy 10 years later would find something? Come on now, that's a little far fetched. A great number of other athletes(Ben Johnson, Marion Jones, Barry Bonds, and countless other baseball players, whole Olympic progams,...on and on, with spectacular records have been exposed, and we know dang well others must be guilty, so it's only natural to speculate when somebody improves too much too fast. Too bad, but that's the way it is.
@mikedutk also people claim that she came out of no where. well in college she won 2 NCAA Championships one in the 400 and the other in the 200. So she has been fast for a long time. Hard work, dedication, determination and the love of God got her where she was. Thank you for supporting her unlike many others on youtube..
I'm dumbfounded at how she could brake away from a pack of world-class athletes 60m down the track like she suddenly had a rocket shoved up her ass. It just doesn't look natural... but, what more can you say? Her record stands, and there is no concrete evidence to suggest foulplay.
She only broke away because she was drugged up to her hairy manly armpits! Her voice had deepened and her appearance would've given Ben Johnson a run for his monery in 1988! The greatest cheater of ALL time!
Drugs won't teach you that kind of flow. She might have been drugged up but the technique is all her own and that alone would have made her the best in the world.
of course she was drugged up to her hairy armpits! her very manly voice only added to the suspicion which is a tell tale sign of roids. funny how Flo Jo only was at the top of her game for around 6 months then never again!
Well said. Jealous and weak people always envy success. Nothing was ever proved. If her success was purely drug related, let any woman out there go and take drugs and run the times she did.
Everybody isnt doping or has used drugs to excel in athletics. There are just some extremely gifted athletes that come around every once and awhile. If you werent positively tested then shutup the conspiracy talks.
whoever is making dumb comments about a persons death I hope you burn in hell..thanks

Whites will always claim doping when blacks are superior athletes to the rest of the field they do the same with Serena Williams.

got to be fair tho in some respects USA haven't got a good track record lol when it comes to your athletes doping

it was an optical illusion. true, she did pull away, but the lady pulling up and slowing so fast exaggerated the visual.
