I have two the new one is to difficult for my kids to operate, the old one had a cack in the neck and leaked like that video clip, I took a round plastic Bic Pen wrapped it with some Scotch Tape for snug fit pushed it down the neck and sliced it of with an exacto knife. kind of like putting a new cylinder sleeve in a motor cycle. Problem solved.
@TheMichelenaR Wow. As a motorcycle owner, I can relate. ;) Sounds like a great fix.
I no longer have one of these, but it is interesting to me how every few months someone will comment on this video. With >10k views, it is by far the most watch of all my uploads.
Check out my vids on the newest filters. Also FLAWED DESIGNS! I think that there are MANY bad filters, but most people are too lazy or apathetic to post complaints or videos.
@fvfdfirefighter Right, I understand what you mean now. Did that I think - that worked for you? Nothing I tried worked. If I still had it, I'd try again.
yea the brita version does too. i fixed it perfectly by replacing the plastic faucet threading adapter with a metal one and 2 good rubber rings. i used a wrench to get it good and tight but itll hold and still rotates via a lower rotary joint in the device.
Mine leaks like this, only much worse. Water sprays out all over the place. This is the third replacement unit for me. The problem with ours is just the little screened washer that is under the big plastic nut. I filled out their contact form on their website, begging for help with getting more washers, but got no response. I called them, and the wait wasn't too long on hold, and they promised to send 2 washers, and it will "only" take 2 - 3 weeks!
I have the exact same problem, though to a much greater extent than in the video. Hmm, think I'll check on the box and warranty paperwork. We still have a 'fridge filter', but find this more convenient when filtering water for coffee, fish tank, etc.
that sucks that you guys have such problems with these things. I hear that like.. 90% of people hate these...but I have had mine on my faucet for YEARS and it has never... I repeat... NEVER LEAKED.
Sure, its the same one as yours. I need to wait for my g/f to get home, shes the one with the video camera. Mine would leak as yours does but if you simple tighten it by pulling twisting the filter counter-clockwise it should work fine.
Mine leaks,too..not sure what I can do about it other than smash it,lol, like the one fella did. Reason is, idk if I have the paperwork to send it back.
We called PUR, and they sent us a coupon for a new unit. It was still under a 5-year warranty... new one does not leak at all. Maybe I'll report back in a few months...
I don't understand how they can sell this product that is so poorly manufactured. Surely the customer expects a water filter to filter water not to leak and mix filtered and unfiltered water. Thanks for the video. My comment to PUR - what do you say.

Mine has the same problem and is under the factory warrenty. I plan to call Pur Leaks Inc and see what they will do. This is an obivious design flaw.

I have had two PUR filters and had similar issues. Neither lasted more than 12 months. Looking for a different brand now. Any suggestions?

The neck under the faucet nut is cracked and can't be fixed. They should all be recalled. JUNK

These faucet filters are a rip-off. We're returning ours to Costco on Monday.

My Britta leaks the very same way. Plastic fittings not holding up to water pressure...sure would be upset to have this problem under the sink...
opanther 3 years ago
We got a new one from them under warranty but after 5 months it leaks again the same way.
We're thinking of getting an under the sink model from some other company.

I just sold mine on Ebay. Glad to get rid of that junk. I put the Pur large pitcher. I boil the water first and then filter it. Taste great.
