  • chat pad from argos

  • I finally got caught up with the rest of the world and hooked my TV to my computer to watch streaming video. I want to control my computer from my couch instead of having to get up and walk across the room. I don't like wireless keyboards for lap use. They're so bulky and awkward. I have a 360 with a chatpad and bunches of extra controllers. It would be great to control the PC using a thumbstick as a mouse and the chatpad to input short text. Too bad MS never bothered to release a driver.

  • porke se funden el coco todos si puedes configurar el chatpad con el xppader

  • @xxXElv1sXxx NO SE PUEDE.

  • works with visual studio 2010?

  • I often use my 360 controller for my PC and the keypad would be very helpful for games like Skyrim where I want to use the controller but would like to use a keyboard for binding spells.

  • ``Difficult to connect´´´Bullshit, just bitchslap that fucker on.

  • link plzzz

  • moooo ms likes to milk propitiatory hardware

  • hi, can you give me the link of the driver for the chatpad?

    thanks!

  • The only use this add-on keypad would have for me is if it would allow me to map button macros to it like alt-tab, so I can switch back to desktop during gaming from the controller.

  • @jdsony

Maybe they just don't want you using the xbox 360 chatpad in windows per se? Cos it's difficult to type on/practically pointless other than for in-game chatting and can't beat using your keyboard for typing and would ruin the already excellent xbox 360 controller's experience on Windows?

  • @TreyArc but is it really up to Microsoft to decidej how you type on your PC? poin tis it could easily work. but like many MS products it will never see its full potential. its only "good enough"

  • @TreyArc chatpad support, and mouse emulator support on a wireless 360 controller. I could Chill on the bed watch outerlimits on my 42" from the pc. What about an rts like homeworld. If i Could map every key to respond. I would esentially remove the need for a full wireless keyboard and mouse at my nightstand, add the mic support and i had eliminated the need for several devices. I was thinking of getting a kinec for that purpose but writing and tweeking drivers is time consuming.

  • I found some software that allows you to use the xbox 360 chatpad with a wired xbox 360 controller, it doesn't work for the wireless one, though the development is still going.

I've uploaded a video on my channel with the information.

As I see, you are using a wireless controller with the chatpad, I'm absolutely not going to pay more for this product, since it was expensive enough on its own already. As you say your solution isn't worth paying for, anyone has a better idea?

  • 1.18 = the weak hands of a gamer "/

  • Let's all go to this Facebook page and collect as much people as we can so we can convince Microsoft that we REALLY NEED IT!

    /#!/pages/Request-Chatpad-Driver-for-PC/142414269145842

  • there are drivers for windows now for the chatpad.

  • Either way, I reject what I said a month ago. Good job I guess...

  • Simple Macro button codes written in coalition with the current xbox driver is easy especially in Vista and W7... Heck I could probably write that program in less than 3 hours drunk...

  • LOL!!!! Dude has problems...

  • I would pay upto like $30 for software to make the chatpad work for my htpc....

  • Correction: Difficult to *plug-in*.

  • Hey can you make a tutorial of this? PlZ??...!

    Thanks ;)

  • Seriously why not just use a keyboard and mouse... this is retarted..

Plus real PC Gamers use Mouse/Keyboard anyway...

    Noobs...

  • @mmr061485

What if I want to sit on my bed and play PC with this? Or even browse the internet? Fuckin think.

  • @ButtplugClock

Id say your probably a fat lazy fuck who needs to invent other ways of loosing wieght rather than being a ... Big Fat Lazy Fuck....

If you want to get on the computer in bed buy a Laptop... Fuckin think!!!

  • @mmr061485

    u mad?

  • @mmr061485 What the fuck is your problem? A fucking laptop in bed is even bigger, heavier and awkward then using a keyboard. I have a gaming rig setup to a 42 inch tv right near my bed. Why would i want to buy a seperate fucking machine?? A chatpad in bed would be awesome and its not fucking lazy, its especially useful when your ill.

You are nothing but a ... Big Ignorant Fuck ... If this setup is not to your preference then why comment and insult ppl!?, nobody wants your oppinion.

  • @ButtplugClock Exactly the reason i want one, i have a wireless mouse but im sick of using the "on screen keyboard" What i want to know is will the 360 chatpad work at the same time as my keyboard or will it make it disable?

  • @mmr061485 Ya but its alot easier. To use a controller and if you can plug a mini keyboard in it then that makes gaming alot easier.

  • @hisadg is there a way to use it without an xbox? i don't have one, only the wireless controller and its receiver

  • @jerryanderium forget it, i just used xpadder

  • i guess you don't like talking? :D

  • u know what guys, im tired of this shit... microsoft is not only crazy, is a big shit of a company, who dont give a shit about what THEY OWN CUSTOMERS THINK.. YES THEY DONT! is that so hard? I dont think so, but hear what customers want cost money, and microsoft only thinks about money, so they dont wanna spend money hearing they own customers...

FUCK U MICROSOFT, BIG PIECE OF SHIT!!!! YA I USE THIS SHIT THAT U CALL WINDOWS..yes i paid for it and i hate u because u do humiliate your customers.

  • Comment removed

  • @xcaninox Why dont you make one then? o.O If it's been years, you've had those years to learn how to code, and could have possibly done it yourself....

  • @Elvalyn666 comon man, i am a complete newbie, i spent 80% of my money on my pc... the kinda of nerd who admire technology but don't wanna create it, only enjoy it. but u right, i could have study and done it by myself, well.. my laziness is bigger =)

  • guys let me put it this way....

for YEARS, ya YEARS, i had been thinking why guys who know how to program don't make a driver so the chatpad could work with windows... and till today no one could answer me that.. CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME: Why programmers, hackers, nerds, gicks, the pope, van damme, why can't they make a driver or whatever it is called so the chatpad can work with windows?

Why we have to wait for the BIG PIECE OF SHIT, CRAP, BIG FUCKER MICROSOFT to make a driver for us?

  • there is no software for it would be better if you could install what times do what is software or a program so that it gets to run the register with stretchable and so sucks when you do not have Xbox 360 please please please do have a program it brought me (chatpad) to play Gothic 3, but it's not and with your guidance, it is just crap not only for the Xbox 360 have time make a tool and quickly would be really nice of you

  • gibt es eine software dafür wenn nicht dan mach eine

  • Ok this is real. If you think this is fake, screw you.

  • Yes we do XNA is also use to create games!

  • are you guys talking about the driver to use the controller on the pc without the xbox 360 cause my 360 died and ive been using my adapter and i can tell you how to make one too if you need one and also i can send you the driver to use the controller on the pc, it works as a sound card a controller for most games and a mouse with the right program (app)

  • ok every google link brings to this video. I DON'T HAVE AN XBOX, i CAN'T USE XNA, that's the real problem. This XNA is everything but a solution for most users.

  • i use my xbox360 wireless controller as a mouse on my laptop (with xpadder) and im thinking to buy the chatpad also..does anybody know if it works with xpadder?if not what can i do to make work?

  • finnally an answer to my question! :D yay hello world of warcraft with a 360 controller and chatpad :D

  • fake? @ 1:48 he is deleting the text by using the left arrow button, BUT everyone who got the chatpad and used it on xbox360 knows that the arrow buttons doesent delete text. the <-bksp button deletes text... thats why im wondering oO

  • Hey everybody, there are tons of people out there who want these drivers. I just set up a forum to rally us together to hopefully convince Microsoft or, if not, then maybe put together a donation fund and have a third-party driver made. If you're still interested PLEASE just sign up on the forum and make a 2-second post saying you're still interested, you don't have have to confirm your email:

    Thank you!

  • For people who don't own an xbox but just the controller, you want to hear something really frustrating? the description to the chatpad was that it would work on both Xbox and PC, when that was brought to the attention of these people, can you guess what happened? they changed the description, how do I know? because the old description is still used on the danish website..

  • I FUCKING LOVE YOU

  • cool and all but who wants to sit and type an essay on an xbox chatpad i mean really

  • it would be nice if the media center is running and someone is sending a message for a quick reply...

  • Well who wants to lean over a desk typing all day?

There are several reasons to argue either side. But it would be great for games that require alot of keys light flight simulators, rts, and rpg's like WOW!

  • I think that is so funny that it is easier to get the Sony shit like the controllers and the the sony chatpad to work on the computer are easier than Microsoft's stuff like the 360 controller and the 360 chat pad to work. Why is it alwways backwords. XBOX is Microsoft, so why not have the damn driver for it, a driver isn't that hard to make, or just even make it to where it is all joypad strokes so you can assign them to the keyboard with xpadder. All I have to say is, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

  • it's all about money and profit

  • Xbox controllers work on windows very easily, once you plug it in it automatically downloads the driver for it, and then you are ready to play any game with it (well any game that supports a controller, which is a lot). Now to get it to work as a mouse and keyboard like this guy did is a different story. But as for working as a controller like its supposed to, its just plug and play.

  • Xpadder is still free (Freeware). Get it at any of the freeware dump sites (i.e. Brothersoft, softpedia, etc.). Version 5.3 out now-still free.

  • Xpadder does NOT work with the chatpad, nothing does on the computer except that stupid xna thing.

Xpadder was free from 5.3 and before, but now it costs money. You can still find 5.3 on the internet, but at the official xpadder website there are no free versions.

  • hey man i know how to make a 360 controlor a mouse but how do u make it a key bord

  • You don't make a keyboard you buy one for $30 in the U.S. at a Video game authorized retailer attach it to the controller and change the settings.

  • Hi man, can you try it with the "XPADDER" and let us know if work or not..? thank's.

  • xpadder is not for free u have to buy it so joytokey is better

  • just download the pinnacle game profilertorrent it is the best gamepad emulator out there and its free

  • well its same as jottokey but its trial and it has to dectech game idk how to config keys

  • xpadder is free well atleast i have it for free where did u get ur info?

  • from there site

  • oh well look 4 a tut on how to get it and it shud be free

  • Nope, tried it myself

  • how did you get the wireless to work? I havn't seen anyone do it yet?

  • If you mean connect to your pc you need to buy that wireless thing. Forgot what its called but you plug it into a USB port and it picks up wireless controllers and other stuff thats compatible with it.

  • thats pretty kool

  • It's so stupid that the PS3 chatpad works in Windows but the 360 one doesn't. Sometimes I really believe Microsoft are crazy.

  • Is it really true that PS3's chatpad works on Windows? Damn! I thought I made the right decision by choosing the xbox 360 controller over the Dual Shock 3. I need more info on this matter.

  • @jdsony but the ps3 chat pad is also retardedly put above the controller so its just as bad

  • @sk8erpro10

I was thinking the same thing. I was gonna buy a PS3 controller and chat pad until I found out that it goes ABOVE the controller, and I realized that it would make things harder for me (since I'm used to using QWERTY-style text phones, and the 360 chatpad is similar to that design).

  • @jdsony Microsoft made Sony

  • @jdsony no just cunts

  • Are you guys really that lazy? cant you just use a regular keyboard and a mouse? Jeez....

  • How is that lazy? Generally a full size keyboard is a lot easier and faster to use. This kinda thing is usefull if you want to use it for a Media Center or something and it's advantage is it's size - it's small and unobtrusive so is perfect if you don't need to do a lot of typing (can you imagine trying to type out an essay or report or something on that thing?) and you need to use it at long distances from the computer.

  • Same setup work with a wired Controller?

  • lb should be right click and rb for right click

  • THIS IS FANTASTIC! Perfect for a project im working on!

  • that was cool

  • i found a site that mentioned why its not compatible with windows. it's cause the way it's worded is misleading. you have to take the sentence as a whole "Chatting with friends and family on Xbox LIVE® and Windows-based PCs is easy" meaning you are chatting with people that are on live and windows while you are still on the xbox. very lame. but i like this solution (kinda). cause it makes a work around that's simple and effective, albeit expensive.

  • here a tip when you connect it put it in part way and then the things on the back connect 1 at a time really simple!

  • I lol'd at 1:25 because it's really a pain in the ass to connect. What I do is connect the center part first, and lock it in on one side. On whichever side you locked it with, hold it with that hand, eg: if left is closed, hold the controller only with left hand. After that, smack the other side in, but don't use any force with your free hand. Think of smacking a wrench on your hand, like in TF2. Just do it gently, if you smack it hard, you'll disconnect the controller because the batteries.

  • cool but looks like carpel tunnel would arrear faster if your always on a pc and xbox

  • switchblade get it

  • i have it. works great. sucks that it doesnt support the chatpad

  • I updated my web site. There are additional information how to use the XPCC. Please refer to the site if you plan to use the XPCC.

  • Funny

  • It's pretty good, especially being compatible with the chatpad. :)

  • if you want to use your 360 controller for games (or anything, including mouse replacement) just get xPadder; its free and can emulate pretty much any HID with any controller input supported by windows. also i very much doubt you can use chatpad on pc as it is not supported even by xna

  • I know that my idea is not good ;-)

My XNA software are running on PC and XBOX360. PC's XNA software can't get inputs from chatpad. However XBOX360's XNA software can get inputs from chatpad. So I made XBOX360's XNA software to send inputs of chatpad to PC. PC's XNA software is just a receiver.

  • @hisadg Well, that's brilliant.

  • @hisadg And............how did you do that? it would be very helpful to know.

  • im going to have to call shinanigans on this whole chatpad app. I got xna installed (along with visual basic 2k5, sp1) and i compiled this source code and nodda goddamn thing happened. Sure it took me to the xbox live sign in but it crashed shortly after. The controller never controlled my mouse and the keyboard never worked. Shinanigans.

  • You do know that you need a wireless receiver to use on most Xbox 360 controllers, right?

  • unless it is a wired controller which is usb. works out of box (with download of drivers of official course)

  • Psst, XNA is for Visual C#...

  • dancing is easy

  • how do you do that please i always wanted to use my 360 control as a mouse

  • does anyone know where i can get microsoft c# 2005?

  • just bought my chat pad today. (havent got xbox yet) had my 2 360 controllers for months now for my laptop. i was wondering why my chat pad wasn't workinig. no one told me it doesnt work.

anyway i like your app, will get it

  • So does your xbox need to be running for this to work? I'm clueless about XNA

  • pretty sure you do have to have it running...

xna is a membership and it costs $40 or $50 for 4 months and $100 for a year...

    kind of expensive for a keyboard that's $30...but it's a working fix...

i might try this if i come across a spare $40, cause might be able to capture the data being sent...

xna is actually a programming studio that you can create games with...or programs if you know what you're doing...this guy just kinda did a reverse program and sent it back to the computer...

  • no you have to buy an adapter and install it.

  • has anyone tried using the chat pad on an official "games for windows" game? i think that's what they meant when they put the "on Xbox LIVE® and Windows-based PCs"....but that's only a thought....

  • It doesnt work on games like halo 2 for the pc....

  • Thanks for comments! XNA membership is too expensive for using chatpad. I don't recommend to pay...

we don't need to care about XNA if microsoft provide a driver,,, :-(

  • The program you need is free.....

google XNA Gaming Studio Express 2.0 and download form microsoft...

  • Is it possible to do this without paying $65 membership for XNA. To me it's not worth paying that much just for the chatpad to work with my PC. But I want the chatpad with my PC, do you have any theory's. It's taking far too long for MS to bring out the drivers for it!

  • please upload the application so we can use it

  • msg me if you want all the links to download

  • finally something is being done to hopefully fix the problem with the lack of PC support for the MSN Messenger Kit (Chatpad)

even though the packaging on it says it supposedly works with PC, microsoft has failed to ever release any sort of driver.

  • nize

  • gnarly dude! And how come your controller looks like the cleanest controllest I've ever seen lol.
