@jessicad318 You talk about him being uneducated and you don't know what sex your snakes are. Any "experienced" snake keeper knows the sex of their reptiles
I most definitly know the sex of all of my reptiles. This video was posted three years ago, at the time i did not know how to probe my animals and had to take them to a good friend a week later to be sexed
Thats cool i hope to make a stack soon. Ive made good vivs before but thisl be my first stack. I dont know much about crested geckos but dont they need high humidity? The wood you used looks unfinished so humidity might damage it after time. If that is a problem you could just put some sealant on the inside of cresty viv.
I use crushed walnut shells and calcium sand and I never had problems. The only thing I hate about calcium sand is when I clean the sand it leaves a cloud of dust. So when I clean it I take my beardie out :P
i dont recall him saying lepoard gecko but i know i have two and its been 8 years and they havent had any issues with sand. i use the cal sand. nice setup
hey buddy that setup is greater than most looks nice real nice snakes are bright and their eyes dont look dull everything needs more space eventually and this is @cmanclan101 I WANT TO SEE YOUR SETUP
GREAT job. very nice work I love it you know your stuff and you have a amazing setup in my opinion. now i want to build one and i have some ideas now. didnt think about this.
i only had my crested gecko in that enclosure for a month or so i have since moved them to their own cage. they are nocturnal and do not have a need for UVA/UVB lighting, my snakes are also nocturnal rendering special lighting useless. that said, i have loved the cheap 12" lights i got from home depot they work very well and they are only $10 each. i have only one heat lamp / basking area in the enclosure which might be an issue with all adult boids but i have had no issues
You are a moron. Buy a calculator. A standard U.S 40 gal tank is 36" 3/16 x 18" 1/4 x 16" 15/16 exactly. That's 5.998 square feet. My red tail is in a 4'x2'X16" enclosure. Tha'ts 10.66 square feet. My enclosure has DOUBLE the area of a 40 gallon breeder. I also have a basking area CLEARLY shown in my videos. I have been breeding for five years with a PERFECT health record of all my reptiles. If your going to post here get your facts straight first.
I'm a breeder, and you've accomplished something most people wouldn't try! Good job, even for the mistakes, it looks very nice and animals are well taken care of! Best of luck!
That looks like a really cool set up you have. As for the back, problubly would have been easier to use a whole sheet of plywood or something on the back then drill holes or cut holes where needed. Just Thought I would mention that.
Any ways, I think you did a pretty good job. I am looking to build something like that my self :D Good Job.
how do you keep the humidity high in your ball python cage your cages r realy nice and they are big for your reptile wich is nice to see thry look very happy
@ReptileLoui thank you, i have a custom misting system built in and because of the water sealant on the wood and the full glass front they hold moisture very well, check out my misting video
Beautiful beautiful set up you got there! I think they looks much better than racks and tanks laying around. Im more of a snake person too but I fell in love with my crested gecko when I saw her at the expo. Couldn't say no. I just recently started getting into large lizards like blue tongues and tegus mostly.
@EternalLife47 It depends on what you want. ball pythons get a lot thicker and are much more mellow and corn snakes get about 4 feet and can be a lot quicker. if its your first snake i would go with a ball python. but be careful balls can be finicky eaters!
@dragon2060 the dumerils is 5 feet and the red tail is almost seven feet. the dumerils is in the bottom and my red tail is in another custom built enclosure that is 6x4x4
Hi, I my self have a amount of reptiles as well, and was wondering do you have measurements or anything for this enclosure. It looks sweet and I want to make one.
@Nojoke88 i hear ya man. im only allowed to have 2 neon tree dragons. trying to talk my mom into me getting a baby ball python.....but, shes still insisting on me waiting. lol.
ur lucky ur even allowed to own snakes. i could only own lizards till i moved out on my own. n now i get to work on building up my snake collection. lizards r cool n all but i gave them all to my lil bro. snakes r much better i think. but that baby red tail boa is so pretty! next im either going to b getting a jungle carpet python or a super hypo red tail ...tough choice for me.
i could re-create this enclosure for under $300 (minus the furnishings) keep in mind a glass aquarium will run you a MINIMUM of $150 with a stand and thats a good price. so if your housing five plus animals a high estimate of $350 is a great option
@herpreptileman read the comments for heating and i would recomend a ball python, they can be finiky eaters but they stay moderately sized and have a very calm temperment
No need for a heat pad because Bearded Dragons can't feel heat from their stomach. If you need additional heat at night or something, use a CHE (ceramic heat emitter).
