• Whenever i re-watch my dvd at home "Hey, Mr. Producer", i always laugh whenever Bernadette says "If you want to bump it, BUMP it with a trumpet!"

  • Bernadette never seems to age, she still looks as young as in Annie.

  • I do love Ruthie in this but NOBODY shines like Bernadette I love that women!

  • ohhhmuuhhfuckinngod. Bernadette was too funny in this. im suppose to be asleep right now , but i needed to hear her voice one more time. I watch this video and find that when its over im biting my pillow to keep myself from laughing at her moves :D going straight to the favorites.

  • It's funny cause Bernadette Peters also does the horn thing in Annie! Hahah

  • i'm Ruthie Henshall and i'm just gonna go en pointe because i can! frickin love this woman!! wudnt be surprised if she cud do this!! she looks amazing! saw her tonight actually :)

  • Bernadette Peters is one of the great leading ladies and tbf I'm not a Ruthie Henshall fan I found her too over the top on this occassion.

  • gotta love Ruthie :) but ill always have a soft spot for Julia, look at her showing the kids how its done :)

  • julia mckenzie....showing them how its done!....... and i love bernadette and ruthie...... but come on!

  • Wow, I wasn't familiar with Ruthie Henshall at all before I just got the urge to surf here for some "Gypsy" music. Have I got a script for her ...

  • Best version of this song EVER!

  • the definitive version is from bernadette peter's revival of 'gypsy". miss electra makes you pee your pants. stopped the show.

  • i love how ruthie sings success at 2:55

  • Funny, very funny! I love Ruthie.

  • its about time they bring gypsy back to london

  • @saint973 Yes, and Ruthie Henshall should play Rose!

  • she's good....but she's no Faith Dane........i've been watching that movie since i was 10 and i've NEVER seen anyone better than her Miss Mazeppa......i want a motion sensor on my gravestone than when people walk by it'll automatically play her saying "something wrong with strippin????" LOL

  • 4:24 is my favorite<333333

  • This is my Nth time watching and i just realized that dressy tessy is also the Fantine I admire! I also saw a clip from Chicago where she played, she is so into her roles that i must say what a brilliant actress she is!

  • Ruthie is the best no matter what she's a brilliant dressy tessy absolutely amazing :) !!!!!

  • AMAZING RUTHIE!!!!

  • julia mckenzie is bloomin amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love the voice of the gal with the cape/wings thingy.

  • That's Ruthie Henshall, star of Les Miserables, Chicago etc.

  • If Julia McKenzie as Electra wasn't good enough, we then get Julie Andrews and Judi Dench joining in at the end!

Julie as Mazeppa, Julia as Electra, and Judi as Tessie - there's a fantasy cast...

On another note, how great wouldn't it have been to have seen Julia McKenzie play 'Rose'?

  • oh. my. GOD! i LOVE this video!! haha!! this has made my day!!!

  • Im in love with Ruthie!

  • Ruthie Henshall is great as dressy tessy!

  • GO MISS MARPLE! lol

  • ms peters doesn't look too into it at first.

  • that's the whole point! lol

  • This argument is highly entertaining. gldboy1017, wtf is with you? Either you're a nobody who fetches tea in "hollywood film industry" or you're clearly just making up bull. If you were anyone important, like I don't know "Serious information gatherer" you wouldn't have time to come online to youtube and have this pointless argument. Just admit you're wrong, because you obviously aren't getting anywhere!

    KTHXBYE.

  • All that talent on one stage is unreal.

  • what is going on with peters is she okay? she isnt completely into it?

  • Check out the show - Gypsy. Unless my memory fails me, she's just really acting the character.

  • omg, this is perfection.

    Ruthie----be my mom

Julia-- stfu, you're hilarious with those lights

    Bernadette- please never die

  • love seeing Lea busting up laughing in the background! And I would've been, like I still do!

  • And Ruthie when Bernadette goes for the horn

  • 4:21 "Bump it with a trumpet!!" I rofled at that!!!!

  • Bernadette makes horn playing HAWT

  • I love how Ruthie has a hard time not cracking up at Bernadette playing the trumpet...

  • Wow, does Bernadette ever age? She is amazing!

  • My dad has a crush on Bernadette, and I was watching this and he said "I have a problem with her outfit. It's still on"

    xD

  • HAHAHAHA. That's fantastic!

    God, I love her.

  • victoria and benadette both did a awesome job in this video!

  • Who the heck is victoria?

  • victoria is the girl right after ruthie

  • sorry but working for hollywood my info is correct..just because you read the credits from that concert doesnt mean they all go by thier real name i know victoria and bernadette as well..but im not going to argue that not me...there are some things i cannot reveal because i also have to keep my alias too...like i said i have met eye to eye and have talked with them and had dinner with them..and i have some more movies to work on see ya

  • It's not a matter of reading the credits; it's called common knowledge. and how many people do you know that work in the theatre and film industry that say "I work for Hollywood. So, go work on your "movies" and stop pretending to have information that you clearly don't.

  • There is no one on that stage named Victoria. Sorry to disappoint.

  • well i was working on that production as a camera man and i know bernie personally and yes there was victoria if u must know

  • one more thing she likes to be called victoria but her real name is phillidra or something spelt like that

  • Who are you talking about? This video features Ruthie Henshall, Bernadette Peters, Julia McKenzie and in the background are Lea Solonga, Milicent Martin and Judi Dench. In fact, no one with Victoria anywhere in their name performed at the entire concert.

  • well u should try to get a video of the production of mr producer...but i know that the girl after ruthie goes by the name victoria because for the production mr producer that we had worked on i had met bernadette and also that girl the one right after ruthie we did some blending and some other tricks for that particular production and when i met bernie she introduced me to that girl as victoria...thats about how i know her

  • These are very well known actresses. None of them goes by the name of Victoria. Please check your information.

  • look i dont know what u do for work and dont want to know...all i know is that i do work for the hollywood film industry...and dont care about what other people think about if i do or not...but i know my info about the people i meet and what alias they use for thier names on the street ok...this conversation is over.....

  • Bernadette is awesome! I love her. She pulls this song off without looking like a complete slut - which is a big accomplishment for women.

  • YES!

i found this on here a while ago, fell in love with it, then couldn't find it again.

    BUT I HAVE NOW!

    brilliant.

absolutely my favourite version of this song EVER.

  • Bernadette Peters and Ruthie Henshall, I'm in love!

  • Wow - Ruthie doing ballet!! There's only so many talents one person should be allowed to have!!! xXx

  • I agree with you!!!

    Ruthie is gorgeous!!

  • Bernadette is so cute with the trumpet and all, and the voice when she started. I don't get why she's holding her hand over her abdomen though. I like this video!

  • Probably to keep her posture proper and get the breath to her diaphragm (sp?) faster.

  • I thought she did that in character, kind of relaxed and an I-don't-care-too-much attitude.

  • Peters is phoning it in

  • I think that's just the character she is playing, sort of aloof.

  • peters doesn't really act or use facial expression in any of this performance. but that's what makes it so funny, she's just naturally hilarious!

  • There is something about Ruthie Henshall that buggs me

  • Wow... Ruthie can really do ballet! Very talented!

  • Oh my, this is one of my favorites. They are all so wonderful, but Bernadette is just the queen. She's so naturally humorous. Also love Ruthie!!

  • @ccnobo LOL me too. And I agree with you on Bernadette Peters and Ruthie Henshall. <3

  • ruthie is unbelivably good!!!

  • Absolutely brilliant, I love it and it always makes me smile.

  • i LOVE this! especially the "bump it with a trumpet" part.

  • BRAVO!!!

  • Ruthie...amazing

  • i think bernadette peters would have made a better mazeppa than rose.

  • personally, i think that since she was an amazing rose, and can also be a convincing mazeppa, it is more of a testament to her acting and vocal abilities.

  • love how bernadette just stops singing at one point

  • ha ha

    i love her

  • do you have the song before this one " Being Alive " please because Miss Peters sings that beautifully?

  • Who wrote this??

  • Jule Styne wrote the music and stephen sondheim wrote the lyrics.

  • great song, fabulous performances by all three ladies! i can't get over how brilliant ruthie henshall is.

being a les mis fan, i love how michael, ruthie and lea are all in a row at the end. i cant help thinking ahh, its marius fantine and eponine. hahaha

  • "If you wanna bump it..bump it with a trumpet!"

    ROTFL~!!!!!!!

  • Wow, Ruthie must be the most talented person ever. She can sing and dance like nothing i've ever seen/heard in this world. And THAT DRESS, one word WOW

  • LMAO Ruthie's enthusiastic tongue at 3.07! WHAT LEGENDS!

  • bernadette is funny! she can play that horn well!

  • Bernadette shines over the others, as always!!! She is SO fabulous and hilarious! Nice point for Ruthie, but she seemed to over-act the part. Bernadette STILL looks amazing, and she's 60 this year! I'm going to see her in concert on the 31st, and I actually got front row seats! I can't believe it!!!

  • this clip is funny, I love it

  • I've got to say Bernadette absolutly shines throughout this clip :-)

  • i simply love all 3 of these actresses, but is it me or does bernadette seem a little disconnected like she doesn't really wanna do it.....

  • I get what you mean, but I think she's trying to play the character, because the character acts like that and is supposed to I think. Complete contrast from "Being Alive" which is the song she does prior to this one.

  • love it!

  • Who wouldn't?

  • "Bump it with a trumpet!!"

  • It also looks like everyone is trying not to laugh when Bernadette Peters is doing her bit at the beginning, Id like to say again how funny she is! lol

  • This is sooo good, Bernadette "pump it with a trumpet"- hilarious. I like Ruthie the best, look how she gets on her tip toes- ouchies!

  • Getting On Your Tippy Toes It Doesn't Hurt! When Your Trained In Pointe Like Ruthie And Me :D

  • This makes me happy. :D

  • Ruthie is the mos talented person ever! I love her so much! Every show she is in she just is fantiastic. I'm never disapointed!

  • I LOVE Ruthie!!!! She's the greatest!

  • Best version of this song ever.

  • Is Bernadette Peters lip-syncing at 0.35-0.40 or are the people behind them singing with Julia McKenzie?

  • Bernadette goes from kid's ensemble

(Baby U/S) in the origanel, to Mazeppa here, and Rose in the revival.

  • Every single one of those women are just awesome! Dame Judi is my tops (esp. with that ending--so her!!), but every single one of them is a super star. Julia McKenzie is just out of this world!! Mature women "rock this planet"! Lea, Bernadette, and Ruthie, all are super. So much brilliant performing...thanks for posting!

  • Hahahahah! The best part in the whole thing is that little kick Dame Judy gives at the end! It cracks me up! This whole show was amazing!

  • SO.GOOD.

  • OMG! ruthie can dance ballet? AMAZING! wattah talented person! lets go ruthie!!!

  • Yeah, she was also in cats and chicago for a few years!

  • Julia McKenzie is magnificient - and did you know she also directed the entire gala?

  • this is brilliant =]

  • Oh my God. I think Julia McKenzie just stole my heart. Why is she not in everything? Seriously!!!

  • BP Rocks!!!!!

  • This was hilarious- I was surprised with Ruthie's non-ballad, jazzy voice!

Bernadette Peters with the trumpet- so freakin' random but hilarious!

  • lea is so cute!!!

  • These guys are so good! (I love Ruthie) But if you wanna hear a painful version, listen to the film version of this song. its on here somewhere.

  • LOVE THEEEEEEEEEEEEM!!

Love Bernadette, Ruthie, Julia!!! THEY'RE AWESOME! Pure talent in musical theatre

  • Julia puts all of them to shame , she is a sexy lady !!

  • I love the way Bernadette makes it seem that her character could care less. Like when she shimmeys her arms are all limp. I love her.

  • I agree, I just love the slack lumpiness of her character. But her voice still shines over the others. She's pure brilliance

  • This was not in the tv telecast! what a shame...

  • I love Ruthie! She rocks!

  • Peters sounds drunk!!! I hope shes acting that character! lol Brilliant!

  • If you saw her performance right before this of "Being Alive" you'd know that she was absolutely not drunk. It's amazing how easily she flips from one song style to the next...awesome and hysterical

  • this is brilliant :D

  • woohoo!

  • And is that michael ball on the end there?

  • lmao i love Bernadette!

  • go ruthie! u rule!

  • RRRAAA HHAAAAA!!!!!!!! *faints*

(English Translation: Ruthie henshall, i love her)

  • bernadette is the funniest person ever. Bump it with a trumpet! lol

  • omg i luaghed soo hard at that part!

  • I didn't know it was Ruthie Henshall as Tessie Tura in this, she's an amazing Fantine.

  • Ruthie en pointe?? [swoons]

  • ruthie is amazing.

  • hahaha....bump it with a trumpet!!! i LOVE Bernadette she is so funny and amazing, the others were good to, i want to see if i can find an audio of this somewhere. thanks!!

  • sometimes watching this video, i wonder if bernadette put of the wrong hand at the end on purpose to be noticed. :/

who was the ballet girl? She was cerazy awesome.

    -Jacob

  • Ruthie Henshall... She's one of my musical favorites. You can see her on the 10th Anniversary of Les Mis.

  • <3 She's such a legend, the best fantine ever without a doubt

  • she put out the right hand she just had the trumpet in the other and her hand wasn't as low as the others it was still the same hand though

  • Bump it with a trumpet!

    XD

    -Jacob

  • This rendition kicks ass!I remember seeing this a couple of years ago.

  • Great upload of a great performance. Incredible to think that Bernadette was 50 at the time... looked amazing.

  • Yes! Thank you so much. I'm so glad someone finally added this youtube. Just brilliant.

  • This is definitely the best rendition of this song... ever. It cracks me up every time.

  • judi dench gets everywhere!

  • lol its true! All their parts are great, but its all about Ruthie! she's great at everything and love her butterfly dress :D

  • excellent :) They're incredible singers, in addition to all the rest.
