  • "My heart starts doin' the St. Vitus Dance" - which is a medical term for a type of uncontrolled movement. And one which I never thought I would hear in the lyrics of a song!

    And I approve.

  • His voice is gigantic. All consuming.

  • @nesnejls analog is awesome isn't it.

  • @dillrepair Nah you're right mate. Nothing to it. His voice is just average.

  • @nesnejls his voice is awesome too man... wasn't trying to imply otherwise... but the recording tech of the day imparts a certain nostalgia

  • @rainstormz28 Yeah he was a major influence on James Brown. A seminal figure in the history of R&B, but largely overlooked or forgotten like Clyde McPhatter and Jackie Wilson.

  • @bolder2009 Heaven help us when we ever forget James Brown,Clyde McPhatter or Jackie Wilson, who survive today on YouTube. along with Little Willy John, himself. I think I will listen to Clyde McPhatter today.

  • Great killer toon.....!

  • The Blasters, Dave and Phil Alvin, with their great cover of this tune, ) again answered "yes" to the question "Can white boys play the blues?" But when the rubber hits the road, Little Willie's vocal is just flat out killer...listen to that phrasing, depth and range. Phil Alvin's vocal is cool, retro, even funky. Yet he still dreams of having a voice like Willie's.

  • @Grogan54 Check out the NEW LWJ book: FEVER! Available at Amazon.com

  • @huskuvhovsep300 Marvin Gaye said: “Little Willie John is the soul singer’s soul singer.”

Check out the LWJ book: "FEVER" and learn more!

  • I first heard the Blasters version, but that one is too fast. This one has a better groove, and killer vocals!!

  • I'd never heard this tune before, till someone on Facebook posted its link. IT'S GREAT.

  • I really like the song in this "easy-swinging" version !

  • Blasters did version. Nice to hear original :)

  • No Willie John,no James Brown...plain and simple.Willie made all the money at King Records, and that allowed them to go get James. Willie is just incredible, dynamite!

  • I beg to differ with you. James released his first single with King/Federal in Mar 56. Willie paid some bills with Fever but it came out two months later. Most people would be hard pressed to name anything Willie did before Fever. King/Federal had a huge stable of artists, lots of records released, but directed at a lower volume R&B market.

  • @srercrcr

Fever was puliished in 1956 and originally recorded by Little Willie. It was #1 on the r&b charts for 3 weeks and hit #24 on the rock & roll. The song on the back side, "Letter from My Darling" hit #10 on the r&b charts. I think Little Willie did more than pay some bills.

  • EXCELLENT!!! 10/10.

    Thanks for post.

  • You love all the rnb lke me ! Brill. Thanks John.

  • Uuuuh! Can´t stop shakin my feet...!!! Cheers!

  • lord have mercy....GREAT great GREAT great GREAT!!!!!!!!1

  • Whites stole alot of black soulful music back then

  • Really? That's quite a startling hypothesis. Let's get you published. Revelations like this need to be brought to the light. Imagine the ramifications of this. Speak them to no one.

  • It's a documented fact...Elvis, Pat Boone, Theresa Brewer,Beatles, the list goes on.

  • Good Thing that It is IMPOSSIBLE to "steal" TALENT , huh ???

  • Wow. I thought the Blasters wrote this song! It's like a note for note remake. Shit, this is like finding out the Beatles didn't write Twist and Shout. I really like this song and singer.

  • Lol! Noone could follow Willie vocally he may not have sold as much as his predecessors, ie the beatles with "Leave my Kitten alone",Elvis and some chick with "Fever" but he is still the undisputed king of Rhythm and Blues. I encourage you to do some more research on Willie, you won't be disappointed.

  • Little Willie was more then a singer----he was THE SINGER..

  • You're kidding, right? Twist and Shout is an Isley Brothers tune!

  • so much better that the blasters cover....

  • Really! This version swings!

  • great post!

  • suabe!!! seeeee... jajajaja

  • Phwoaaaaar! Thanks!

  • Little Willie was great, really great.

  • How many fuckers made millions off this guy? It sometimes pains me to listen to Willie because he didn't see shit from this-

  • If that's true, then it's a damn shame.

  • my favourite song right now. i cant help but dance to it :)

  • What kind of crazy shakin' groovy song is this?

From Utrecht, Holland, thanks for sharing!

  • The Blasters sure got some taste... One of my fav' ever !

  • This is one crazy groove. I haven't heard anything that grooved like this.

  • Hahaaa ur right...its real groovy...its great
