I watched Symphonic, channel 864 (on TV from 6:00a-6:00a everyday), and saw the composer's name, Vieuxtemps. The title of the song I heard was Greetings to America.
what the...cadenza is that?....after that sounds perlman like a student man...a good practiced student...what a technik, what a violinist.... a great recording...really...
This was only Heifetz' 3rd concerto recording, behind Glazunov and Wieniawski #2, which was done right before this record. Quite a shame technology didn't allow for such recordings in his 20s-mid 30s, I usually prefer his earlier sound to his later 50s recordings.
:O so much talent...

This was the last song i learned to play on the violin before i quit. listening to this once again really makes me regret quitting... :(

@Chonj92 You don't play songs on a violin. You sing songs, you play pieces.

@An0niempje what if you make the violin sing
oldgoat5 6 months ago
@oldgoat5 Then you don't play a song, the violin sings a song in your hands :P

Brilliant, dynamics that opera singers should listen to learn something about what artistry unheard of today, is all about

I know nothing about violin but he plays with a gypsy soul in my opinion and that's divine.

If you know, It's impossible to play excellent because violin is not machine to be every time to get same sound.

one of my favourite concertos for violin...
people just dont play it that much because it does not fit that "standard 'big' repertoire" list
levnest15 2 years ago 8
There was a time when people played it often...

It would be much appreciated to all of us Heifetz lovers if you upload the fifth concerto of Vieuxtemps and added yet another priceless gem.
Thank You
