I am the "Amy" mentioned in INXS song Reckless Ways written in 1983 and inspired the movie Reckless with Daryl Hanna, Jennifer Grey, Aidan Quinn, and Adam Baldwin which INXS contributed 3 songs to.
I was inspired to write Elegantly Wasted from Def Leppard's song "Wasted" from the On Through The Night album. It was Joe Elliott who discovered me in Alabama on May 15, 1983 at Boutwell Auditorium while they were on tour in the US promoting the Pyromania album. Mutt Lange who produced Aussie band AC/DC's album brought the Australian band INXS to meet me in June '83 while they were in the US and had some down time. Paula only covered for our relationship & still married to Geldof.

I saw Paula Yates with Tiger in Selfridges toy dept just weeks before her death. It struck me that I had never seen such sadness in someones eyes until that time - I just wish I'd said "hello". Tiger could have been put in a room with a 1,00 other children and you would have picked her out as Michael H's daughter. I grew up watching the Tube etc and Paula was an inspiration.

One of those songs the radio station must play over and over so some people can not get the song out of their head. Some being to like it while others detest it. The only reason why I remember who they are is because of a song played over and over that almost drove me nutz. It was so bad I can't think of the song -Thank God!

I saw Paula Yates with Tiger in Selfridges toy dept just weeks before her death. It struck me that I had never seen such sadness in someones eyes until that time - I just wish I'd said "hello". Tiger could have been put in a room with a 1,00 other children and you would have picked her out as Michael H's daughter. I grew up watching the Tube etc and Paula was an inspiration.

The media thought us too 'prudish' to handle it. America even more so. The English tabloids told the truth. Eventually it spread over here. He died by accident. That's all.

You don't hang yourself in the position he was in, there would be far more efficient means to kill yourself than hanging by a belt from a doorknob. That might make sense for a prisoner in a cell with no other way to do it, but not for a free man. A doorknob does make sense for autoerotic asphyxiation though

Being smashed would also explain how he could so misjudge the situation to accidentally die that way. @sylicone221 Opiates and Benzos might kill you (I knew someone who successfully used them to do just that) but they might not. Either way it's a ba-ad idea to go mix drugs, esp those two.
Where did you hear that he was broke when died? How is that possible? That would be pretty hard for an aging rock star to cope with! I still don't buy suicide theory tho.

@SharnsiR ok maybe he wasnt broke, but he wasnt bringing in the money he once did 10 years or so before, when grundge hit, theyre albums flopped and elegantly wasted wasnt really a big success either, compared to kick or x, so i didnt mean broke literally, just saying, he wasnt as successful as he once was! thus, not as much money.....lol....
