He was definitely an icon's icon.
In a strange way, I wish I would have seen how he handled the Munich disaster.

I am not a huge sports fan, but as a young person in the "60's and "70's, ABC's Wide World of Sports was a must-see in our house and Jim McKays' meliflous voice and gentlemanly demeanor made watching whatever sporting event beingfeatured on that weeks' show was an absolute pleasure. I have always thought that Jim McKay was the epitome of a professional sports broadcaster. Thank you and RIP, Jim McKay.

Jim McKay was one of the greatest, if not the greatest, sportscasters of all time. He will be greatly missed by all. RIP
