This is a suggestion for the guys at deadliest warrior on spike. use computer algorithms and reproduction arms test data to see who would win a fight between an average ship of pirates and a standard viking raiding party. although it really depends upon where they are. at sea pirates have the advantage between difficulty boarding a large ship and cannons (a 6pounder with grape shot will swiss-cheese a longboat from 50yrds and it would be like shooting a rabbit with buckshot SPLAT!)

@capone1995 I think you about surmised it, but guns are a BIG advantage, both at sinking boats and in close-quarters. You've only one shot with a flintlock, but it's a lot more likely to disable a dude than a sword-swing, and you can do it from a step or two back from his axe.

In a fight with equal numbers, the Vikings would have to be in lots of much smaller boats to get any amount of dudes onto the pirate ship. And even then, pirates will still have pistols. So I'd go with the pirates.

@Shadowunderrock its really a matter of wether or not the pirate can kill the viking before he reaches him. I have no doubt a viking would win in close quarters, but the pirate doesnt need to fight at close range. of course pirate guns did jam alot and werent to powerfull. I'd like to take a viking shield and shoot it with a flintlock to see if it could take the force.

It would be a good fight either way.

@LordClems I assume you refer to the basis of their music (pirate vs norse) rather than their actual styles. Style wise they are notably different. Alestorm has more of a speed/thrash metal style whereas Amon Amarth have more of a black metal/power metal style. To compare them would be pointless, enjoy them both.

I am a viking reenactor and dress as a pirate aswell for some events (so I can say I'm being impartial). If you took away the black powder weapons then the pirates would have a hard time fighting vikings.
