Yes this happened offshore Malaysia, South China Sea. DLB264 was there to install the jacket and was supposed to do the topside afterwards. I do agree with the alarm sound that it indicates the crane boom is turning. DLB264 was then released from site, and Kuroshio 1 was mobilized to retrieve the sunken jacket.
Stupid fool... i wonder who gave this people handling PTW for this work. They should get the experience ones not the new guys. It's not self accident scene situation but a human mistakes.
actually they are performing an istallation on what is called a tripod jacket or platform. the long piping sticking up in the air are pilings. sometimes when the supervision is gung ho they do stupid shit.they should have driven the first piling down before setting the others. by not doing so the platform became topheavy and you see the results. ive been on two of those when they topple over , pretty hilarious stuff lmao
sorry but that is incorrect, it is the crane overload indication, if you look closley, the jacket is in te sea being lowered to its footings on the sea bed, it cant be turning because it has a bridge linked to it on the right hand side.
the over load alarm is outside so everyone can hear it, to warn them ofIf a crane was overloaded and i was walking past, i would want to be informed so i could get out of the way, i am part of the deck crew on a plaform in the north sea.
When i put up a new fence post I nail a 2x4 to it while the cement dries. This rig had no 2x4s and see what happened!

can someone explain what just happened? what is a tree leg and why is that dissonant sound bleeep all the video?
emigrantgap 10 months ago
@emigrantgap
The beeping is the big crane's slew warning device.
It is trying to pick up one pile using a ILT (internal lifting tool) but the rest of the jacket sank/rolled over.
The piles are hammered into the sea bed to hold the jacket firmly.
No idea what got them to this situation but it does happen from time to time.

Although that may be how it seems but that alarm would be on the inside of the cab. What would be the point on it being outside???

That is an oil rig collapsing. It was a prop up rig, one that stands up when it is at its destination. one legs broke so it fell.
