Remember when i first heard this tune in 1984 and i thougt that it was the best Motörhead ever, then in 1985 it came out an album with the canadian band Exciter named Long live the loud which sound very similar to this song and thats probably because it was Guy Bidmead that produced both of the albums.
I always thought that motorheads symbol was called snaggletooth or war-pig. my parents argue otherwise saying his name is Opus. Any oldschool Experts that can help my out with one?
When I was in school, early 80's there was a guy about 13, looked like a Punkrocker and was a (pot) smoker which was not normal at that age back then. But he always had the best Heavy Metal LP's. We became friends. On a saturday afternoon he came to vistit me with a lot of LP's included the "No Remorse" LP. Man, when I first heard the Song "Motorhead", the Hammersmith version. I never heard something like that! Later he told me that when he went home he forgot his bag with albums in the bus.
Please people don't mention fucking Slipsnott in the comments box below any Motorhead song. Show some goddamn respect or Lemmy will come round and make you drink his breakfast.
Met Lemmy in a bar in Glasgow just before they played a gig in The Barrowlands. We reminded him they where due on stage in about half an hour and he just took another swig of JD and said "Well they ain't gonna fuckin start without me"......a true fuckin rock legend.
It's from the album "No Remorse" a best of that their original label, Bronze Records put out in 1984. It's a double album that featured a new song at the end of each side. It's available on CD with a whole bunch of bonus tracks. I highly recommend it.
@futbolistik same here. i loved kiss all their staff around. they are the founders of this big bang boom shows and merchandise. and they already make good music, so seen at rock am ring this summer. i love bands like kreator, death, motörhead, etc who dont need all this crap. i dont know if slipknot makes bad music. i heared 1 song of them and it wasnt my taste. its for the pseudo hardcore kiddies of these days. and i go on concerts because of the pure music and not the beautiful drummer or singr
It's on "No Remorse," which is a collection from the first six albums of the band, plus four bonus "new" tracks, including this one, and "Killed by Death." It's a great way to get a feel for the band's sound and how it evolved. I highly recommend it.
Can anybody recommend some of the better albums they made after "Orgasmatron"? They have so many that I can't afford to get them all. Thanks in advance.
Lemmy has said over and over that he doesn't play metal, he plays rock'n'roll. (you try to eat that much speed and make the shit come like chuck berry!)[no rag on chuck] Just because every decent metal band since the 80's was influenced by motorhead does not mean they are metal [speed or otherwise].
they are. speed metal is mixture of hardcore punk(in some cases even steet punk) and heavy metal. i know that you mean that they are thrash metal but thras metal is developed from speed metal but has much less hc than speed metal.
id say theyre more classic rock blended with metal, theyre fast as hell but motorheads riffs are more twards pentatonics, which give that destictive rock your ass off sound rather than minor scales that bands like slayer and metallica use for the most part
Clssic rock is a pointless term developed by rock radio stations that play old popular songs..ie: classics
When Motorhead came out they were the heaviest thing going... certainly a heavy metal band...just because music got heavier as time passed does not change history.
This is from No Remorse, which would probably be a good starting point; the best of the early years and a few songs recorded in 1984. You can't really go wrong with the early albums (Especially Overkill and Ace of Spades), and I'd also recommend 1916, Motorizer and Another Perfect Day.
I honestly don't think there are any bad albums, but as a first album, yeah any of the ones Matthias has recommended are very good. I would also add Rock 'n' Roll (arguably an even more underrated album than Another Perfect Day, though do hunt around for the 2 disc version, its Excellent!) or Live in Brixton as excellent introductory albums. Check out the latest 3 as well (Inferno, Kiss of Death and Motorizer).
At first, I didn't really like Motorizer. I'm not sure exactly why, but it just seemed a bit half-hearted.
I suppose it was just a bit of disappointment because a show got cancelled on me due to Hurricaine Ike, after a couple of times listening to English Rose I realized. "Oh yeah, that still is the best band in the world!"
Just call me Snaggletooth! Augh!
