  • They are were like the Motorhead of Shoegaze music....that was sort of a disgusting comparission but rather true.

  • Master Piece Of Art!!!

  • 4 people have no idea what "solid" is

  • Timeless Killer Riff that we all dream of

  • @KeefStrummer well said

  • @kinnichiok

  • just saw these guys live earlier tonight, pretty sure they didn't play this song though which was a bit of a bummer but great show otherwise!

  • @kemicon Man I hope!!! they play this song tomorrow night.

  • I'm gonna see them in 2 weeks!!!! yes!!!

  • what the f*** that is ubelievable

  • Check out a podcast review of Swervedriver's Mezcal Head at digmeoutpodcast. com, a weekly podcast dedicated to reviewing lost and forgotten rock of the 90s.

  • Kick ass band!

  • there are no better guitar overdubs in the history of rock and roll

  • BEST BAND EVER!!!!!!!

  • and if you love this song. Check out Doves - "Catch the Sun" ... It feels the same as this song. Other great Swervedriver songs are Rave Down, Son of Mustang Ford, Sci-Flyer... Since "Raise", they never really did anything as emotional as this but oh well, "Raise" speaks volumes for the band.

  • I have the 12" of this on vinyl and would never, ever part with it. Swervedriver "Raise" was a one-in-a-million album not unlike My Bloody Valentine "Loveless" or Sonic Youth "Daydream Nation" or that first Dinosaur Jr album when they were still called Dinosaur. - Guess you had to be a shoegazer in the early 90's to really relate. I'm talking pre-rave scene, pre-stoner rock (Kyuss, QOTSA) - this was a genre unto itself.

  • Greatest band ever. I've had the good fortune to see them live twice. Such a shame they never achieved greater exposure.

  • what memories. great stuff.

  • Damn. They really don't build em like they used to eh?

  • I love this entire album.. Just put your headphones on and just listen to all of the different layers and textures of the music. It Rocks!!

  • Is this perfect or what? The phrasing too is just so bent, but everything kind of comes at the perfect point..the next riff the next vocal line ...

  • My music was dying and my wife saved it .She bought 2 tickets to see swerevdriver at the troubador and it was like all brand new again. I love this band. I find it's really good to listen to before going in big surf. Very living in the now , to me anyway.

  • This song has the best guitar sound ever.

  • I missed them when they swung 'round to NY back in 2008. I think I was away on vacay or something. Still regret that one! Hope they do some more shows/play out in the near future. A huge fave from college days, almost wore out my 'Mescal Head' cassette over the years. 1993 that was, damn...

  • so many years like the good wine

  • many Thanks for uploading

  • This is great. Can't get enough swervedriver footage 'but i've bin a fan since '92 and never saw this video ,thanks

  • Space Travel Rock & Roll!

  • amazing

  • Sweverdriver. Hail the kings of sonic excess!

  • Doesn't the title of "kings of sonic excess" belong to My Bloody Valentine?

  • @Boudosaved No, good band though...

  • simply the best

  • they did especially since they were such huge Nirvana fans

  • Never Loose That Feeling. Swervedriver is the best lost band since Arthur Lee's Love.

  • This band was more grunge than Ned's Atomic Dustbin ever wanted to be.

  • Do you think Ned's wanted to be a grunge band!!.

  • Totally new to this and not sure how to add as a friend, mikebott. Comment not being posted if I put my email address in. Any suggestions?

  • I do remember that the same night I first heard this song, I also got totally into "Mayonaise" by Smashing Pumpkins for the first time. It's a different feeling, but is also like this song - another of my "play to death" songs!

  • didn't the foreign versions of 'mescal head' have at least one extra song ?

  • Yes, the Japanese edition includes "Planes over the Skyline" and "Year of the Girl." "Planes over the Skyline" can also be found on the "Juggernaut Rides" Swervedriver compilation and is a kick-ass song. I've never heard "Year of the Girl."

  • "year of the girl" was also on the "pcu" soundtrack. the movie sucks, but it's an ok track...

  • @mikebott @DrPhucker Year Of The Girl is one of my favourite Swervedriver tunes. Such an underrated gem!

  • Totally agree about missing out on Never Learn. It's one of the few things I can put on constant repeat and listen to all night, and too hard to describe because it brings up so many feelings - and I'll never lose any of them! Dreamy is definitely one though!!

  • the video is only at 1:42, but i already know i'll feel cheated when i don't hear this dovetail into 'never learn'... that this band wasn't huge, and that most of the indie kids in my area hated them so much i'll never understand.

  • Gotta love anyone that loves Never Learn!

  • add me as a friend, and see if you like any of my other favorites.

  • Beautiful atmospherics, sublime artistry, combined with such smooth technique and dream-like abandon; what more could you ask for from a rock band? ++++

  • @truecross

I always cringe a bit when I read gay shit like this

  • @deengew you suck your daddy's dick with that mouth?

  • @truecross ... i love your quote... it hits the nail on the head

  • Comment removed

  • Tomorrow I see them live in Toronto. Swervedriver fucking RULE. I'll never lose that feeling. Ever!

  • jazzmaster floating tremolo - best invention eeevvvver!

  • The Portland Reunion show kicked ass, and this was played next to last, "Rave Down" being the last track. Goddamn Swervedriver still kicks much ass to this day.

  • If you like this try Love Battery "Out of Focus." Part of a different scene, but they remind me of the Swervies.

  • do you mean The Swirlies?

  • No, Swervedriver/Swervies, whatever the hell you want to call them. I meant that Love Battery are part of the grunge scene as opposed to shoegazing, but I find their sounds similar in some aspects.

  • It's great to hear these guys are still performing. One of the best guitar bands of the nineties and so awesome live!

  • I saw these guys at a small club called The Trubador in Hollywood CA back in 2000. They were my favorite band at that time. I have all of their CD's. The show was phenomenal! To bad they broke up. Adam Franklin is a genius!

  • they're on a huge US tour starting around May 20-something. just in case you weren't aware!

  • swervedriver at coachella 2008 (sunday)

  • word.

  • Thanks for posting - a genuine classic! ..Remember when music had atmosphere/texture/layers?

  • They are going on a reunion tour this year!!!!

  • One of the best bands from the 90's too bad they didn't receive the fame they deserved.

  • Just a brilliant band. Saw 'em live downunder 10 years ago - my ears are still ringing.....

  • Well I am quite the jealous one. Hope you still got the ticket stub or something to remember it by.

  • Unfortunately nothing tangible, but the memories are plenty. Swervedriver really loved a live setting - three encores and the packed out crowd was begging for more!(:

  • thank God for yor parents VCR bak in the day !

  • these guys were the greatest! most memorable times in tha 90's and timeless soundtrips! they were not done faily at all during that time. Swervedriver, ...incredible guitar sounds that stamped my mind forever. pure escapism!

  • I can't believe how much I miss these guys. And this track is one of my favorite tunes from last decade. I wore out my Mezcal Head CD. I'm on my second one now. I highly recommend picking up their Juggernaut Rides double CD from 2005. It's a best of and includes all of their singles prior to the Raise album.

  • what happened to the second half of the song?

  • The second half was edited out for the single version.

  • i saw swervedriver at treforest university shafts nightclub! from what i can remember they did an excellent live performance! mad! one of my favourite bands playing fairly near to my home!(a pretty obscure band as well.) i had my best (vision street wear) customized jacket on! lol!

  • this song pumps me up sumthin crazy. tuuuuuuuuuuuune

  • one of my favorite tracks of all time. the combo of never lose that feeling/never learn on the mezcal head album is genius. i miss these guys so much.

  • This is an incredible song. Effortless, amazing. These guys were fucking robbed.

  • this band was awesome!

  • Absolutely awesome band! Saw them live 10 years ago and still rates as one of my favorite ever gigs. I can't think of another band that combines melody and power to such effect.

  • Fucking amazing !

  • haha I just thought to check if anyone had added any comments. stowaway2000 I agree - I pick Swervedriver too and for the same reason! I once sprayed 'never lose that feeling' in red paint across the inside wall of my lounge...

  • i first heard this song on a yacht in the hamilton islands, Australia (not rich, just lucky). blew me away then and still does today. couldn't have said it better ashisfree. if i can only take one band from the 90's i'm picking swervedriver. fantastic guitar work.

  • uh, why didn't you just use the sudio from the actual song off of the CD? you can use any A/V editing program that accepts multiple A/V formats-

step one: import said video into the software app.

step two: mute, or remove the exsisting ausio track.

step three: import the audio from the CD ( you may need to have the audio file on your hard drive before preforming this)

step four: balance the audio and make sure your levels do NOT go above zero DB,e.g. NO CLIPPING.

  • kudos.

  • wow I am sooo happy so many other people in the world like this band the way i do - simple my favourite band ever since i heard the sandblasted ep in about 91. i have about everything they ever did on cd and vinyl. check out les thugs if you like this - another gem of a band who like the swervies didn't get the recognition they deserved!!! AAAAAAgh when you think of the crap that most people listen to instead of great stuff like this.

  • i love this band

  • one of my favorite Swervedriver tracks.

  • great song great work ... thanks

  • speechless again... many thanx

  • My favourute song of all time. beautiful, heavy, huge, magic. Love it.

  • this song is so hypnotic.

  • jesus ama los swervies. what's up bradsears?

  • A M A Z I N G B A N D ! Thanks for posting

  • they are huge in the states, well bigger than here! i remember i had to order their albums here, in the states they couldn`t keep the albums in the shops, and Mezcal Head had planes over the sky line as a bonus track

  • Swervedriver were one of the greats. Youtube is class for finding 90s indie / shoegaze videos!

  • takes me back, love em

  • I have had such great times with their music. Adma Franklin has been pumping out great music since as Toshack Highway.

  • wow!! i love it since 90`S

  • Yes, very underated. I saw them at the New Cross Venue in 91. Great gig. They had just released this track.

  • HELL YES !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great. Thanks. And xixi: you can download but I'm not sure how legal it would be of me to tell you here.

  • i love it i would like to download this one i can?

  • One of the most underrated bands of the 90's. Most of my freinds have no idea who they were.

  • nice job... i'm taking mine down!
