Actually, no. Heroes like Marvels Power Man, Black Goliath and Black Panther predate Spawn by a wide margin. DC also had Black Lightning and there were many others even before them. The earliest I can confirm dates back to 1965 but there were literally hundreds of black heroes in comics who's dates I can't confirm. I'm sure someone must have been writing black comic heroes before 1965, though.
