This song in my 63 impala, my alpine head unit, my color bar lighting up the interior, some 13 inch star wire wheels and im slippin away in a dream in heavan,
Awwwww man, I remember I found this track a couple years ago on my 20th Birthday, and when I first got it I funked this tune non stop! Non Stop! I was everywhere with this one, ridin all thru the hood with this as the soundtrack. I was just vibin all the way th-ruuuuu! And if I had them..."Flintstones Vitamins" with me, it was a wrap!
Oh my, oh my, oh my - Tony Prince, Radio Luxemburg, The Ultimate Disco Show Friday nights, 9-11. I listened to it under my bed covers. Fabulous. Don't care who it was sampled by. Never ind the samples, listen to the original. Well done Crad!
Shout out to my boy Michael Bailey aka Mike Traxx on this!! DAMN!!! Seems he always had that soulful bass from back in the days!! LOL!! When I play this for him he is gonna FLIP OUT!!! LOL!! Thanks for whoever posted this. Downloading it now. Will be rockin it at my after hour lounge spots!! Sound quality on this joint is GREAT!!
God, Prelude sure had it going. Not only some of the biggest stars in disco, but some obscurer yet super groovy tunes. You can randomly pick up almost anything with that label in some dusty store and it will be enjoyable.
This just someup the early 1980'S tunes that were coming so fast & furious you had to decide there & then at the records shops which one you had to leave behind. Not the ones to take. This is just another great tune that never got the create for a really truely great period in black music - in regards to Soul/Funk and Rnb music from that time. Even though most of the musicians were using the new technology ( Drum machines or Bass Synthesisers) it was used to make tunes more soulful or funky.
DID you guys know hes from queensbridge projects in NYC wow there use to be a lot of funk bands there before MARLEY MARL/ROXANNE/SHAN/MOBB DEEP OR NAS. I think its i the drinking water. THIS WAS QUEENSBRIDGE FUNK 1980 BC (before crack) LOL
I miss this era as the grooves were more passionate .....Plus they don't even grace us with a middle "8" bar these days unless it some decent "Neo Soul" ...Feeling this though ..Definetely sounds like "Mark Adams" on bass to my ears ...Tough tune
@BongholioIglesias I think I've heard it on The Surviving Elements, sounds like he slowed it down just a bit for "Hop, Skip, Jump" Check it: /watch?v=b_R-D3Tf2JU
Oh those years...This song, Sharon Redd, the other "star" band: Starpoint band, George Duke, Unlimited Touch, the italo producers like Gino Soccio...all those charts...all music and sound we miss now. Hear the bass line of this song: today Jamiroquai do the same line on some songs...

Never mind about Pete Rock. He's a borrower. Thia is the original. X

@loobycliff
you still gotta give respect to Pete Rock for 1) recognizing it and 2) doing it mad justice in his mix

@khakisuitANDting Yes, fair enough - borrowing is a form of respect.
