i met joey in christchurch nz and ma mates put him up and lent him a bike-such nice and modest bloke a giant loss ta motorcycling r.i.p mate we love ya
We were there last year waiting for Robert to come round in the 250cc pratice.
My Dad a road racer himself said to us something is wrong. Later that night as we all sat in the British Legion in Portrush we got the call from a friend in the Police.
Time stood still and a quietness over come us.We Robert was gone.
I just wish my Dad was wrong for once.
We will be there again this year but it will be a sad time.
The Knight of the Road is again with the King of Road, 2 legend brothers from our wee country 2 nice lads, heros we have lost how sad, I salute you both.
Michael did his dad proud. That takes some balls to do what he did. It was the finest NW200 moment I have ever witnessed (with tears in my eyes). Fucking amazing. RIP Rob and Joey. Rest easy.
Another great loss to the human race, an awesome talent and an awesome human being,as if losing Joey wasn,t enuogh fate dealt an aweful blow to us all who have followed the Dunlops road racing careers in both the isle of man and northern ireland,an ispiration to anyone who trys to achieve their goal in life has been sadly taken from us all. R.I.P Robert.
im a 44 yr old former soldier who served in ni, i go to the nw every yr , and i admit it when i heard the news of Roberts death i was suited up and away to head up from Larne on the beautiful coast road to Portrush ,when the helmet came off as i couldnt even see where i was going for tears in my eyes !! Respect to you Robert and your family ,and how proud would he have been for his son taking part never mind winning the 250 race ,caus boy did he earn it with teeth bared .Joey wld hv cried too .
rip ,great guy great racer great father sad sad day yet made a bit easier with michael winning, and i was there to see it,will never forget NW20008 in that respect bad race meeting ,but one of the best race meetings ever if not the best, even beats F1 & motogp
RIP we man, another grid space taken up and right beside his brother joey
