  • you can refll those small canisters with an attachment you can make to the big propae balls (like under the stove).

  • Didn't the first ones actually use a Robin engine?

  • @douro20

Never mind; they are all Robin engines.

  • Hi L/B 8035, You did this video right around two years ago. Im curious how the unit has held up for you? Has the engine held up? How about the gear head? Would you buy another of these units? Im sure its less expensive to gravity feed the empty 16oz cylinders from a grill tank, so with that said, please tell us how the unit held up and how often you used it.

    Thanks,

    Bob

  • @MrRmh3481 well this is a very great unit. it still runs great. i use it every week, and im only on my 3rd can of propane! it stars in 3 pulls every time, and yes, i would definitely buy another one

  • @MrRmh3481 YES. Hands down.

  • isnt it more expensive to buy the propane cans with propaine than unleaded gas for the honda 4 stokes,

  • @BaberJacks well i have about 20 cans sitting around still full, so i get to run it for free for the next couple years

  • @BaberJacks You can refill from a larger tank for cheaper.

  • Does it come in a straight shaft?

  • @pbenna yes, it does

  • Being that cold? You are in shorts! The best value trimmer is Husqvarna 128L 2-cycle trimmer. It has a .095 large string which is good for larger jobs and has a 28cc engine only weighs 9lbs, and it comes with a detachable head and in my brother and I lawncare business it keeps up with his Redmax and is only half the price. We got it at the local Sears and it cost 160 on sale. When the two are sitting next to each other I use it instead of the Redmax just because there is no difference.

  • The Lehr engine has givin me more trouble breaks and crap than it's worth. I sold it.

  • @TheGarrettDressler Then you are doing it wrong....

  • Hey everybody lets go green and bring the lawnboy back the green 2-stroke dura-force!!!!!!!! yeah can I get a thumbs UP

  • @lawnboy8035 Well. Glad it works for you. I am replacing it with a husk strait shaft this spring

  • These trimmers are getting horrible reviews but I'm really intrigued by the technology. Are the bad reviewers just not mechanically inclined, or not reading the manuals or what? I was thinking about getting one just to pull the engine and use on my GoPed. Interested in real world usability. Does anyone have any thoughts after using one for say, a year or so? Thanks!

  • @austntexan there really not that bad, i like it a lot. it has tons of power.

  • @lawnboy8035

A lot of people dont know that propane is over 100 octaine and that is great for the smaller engines. That is why you have power.

  • i have the same one execpt stright shaft

  • cool

  • wow that almost sounds like a little harley or a 4 wheeler. how much oil does it hold in the crankcase? thanks nice video

  • does it have a clutch, because i was trying to make a rc car using that engine but i cant find a cheap engine that has a clutch.

  • yeah, it has a clutch

  • instead of recycling the 16oz propane cylinder couldn't you refill them? they make refill kits. it'd be cheaper than buying a new cylinder every 2 hours. how much power does the trimmer have? i'm interested in the craftsman version that accepts different attachments i.e. the brush cutter and pole saw. thanks for the video.

  • this version is also made wtith the attachments to and yes you can get a fitting from you big 20lb propan tank to you small 1lb canister

  • @redbeard0183 Both the Lehr and Craftsman models have curved and straight shaft options, with one-piece and detachable shaft options for attachments. The only major difference between the Craftsman and Lehr versions are of course the color (red vs. green) and that the Craftsman version has a fixed-line head, where the Lehr has a spool-feed head. If you just have grass areas, fixed line is fine but for trees and stuff, I would go with the spool feed (Lehr), lest you change lines constantly.

  • do you have to take the tank off when not in use

  • you dont have to but i do to make it more safe

  • So... one empty propane bottle goes in a landfill for every 2 1/2hrs of use? It's not approved for refill. Is Al Gore OK with that?

  • thats why you recycle them

  • @oletruk That's why you take the tanks to a recycling center.

  • how many hours of run time does it get to one 16oz propane tank

  • 2 and a half but i get more than that

  • @Bigtrucker2007 About 2 hours per the manufacturer's claims, and thats actually about what I get in real world use as well.

  • yeah, me to, it works real good, alot of power too
