For a brief moment Emery captured something magical.

When you look at this song compared with everything after, it really makes no sense.

These were oddly real lyrics that perfectly captured a certain kind of condition.

They would never recover the unique structuring, and content of this song, or the first album in general. A real shame.

There's something kind of ironic and silly about them in this music video too, they don't take themselves too seriously. (but there is something sincere and meaningful about their music) I think that's why emotive and post hardcore have lost.

When I was in high school, bands like these were considered to be "emo," (something I never really agreed with) but today emotive apparently consists of some godawful crap. How emotive hardcore and post hardcore became this strange and perverted phenomenon of scene/emo is kind of distressing to me. For me, emotive hardcore in high school was a fun little underground movement, but for kids today it's just a mainstream mess. Anyway, I loved Emery back in 04/05 and they still hold up.
