Lucille Ball didn't play the violin part here. She's on the wrong string for the lower notes. Ball did take some violin lessons as a kid, but she wouldn't have been capable of playing this work.
Jack Benny and Lucille Ball were next-door neighbors for a long time.
Today is Satuday, August 6, 2011, which is the 100th anniversary of Lucille Désirée Ball's birthday.

The Official Second Season of The Lucy Show, Lucy's Second series, is being released on DVD on July 13, 2010! It's now available for pre-order on amazon! And it's in Color, and co-stars Vivian Vance!
When Lucy was asked if she could play the saxophone for ILL, she said "Give me a week." Her mother wanted her to be a concert pianist when she grew up. And Lucy could play the ukulele. She had amazing timing and rhythm =D
Very cute. Imagine Lucy faking Sarasate's famed work..with Jack looking on in amazement. Lucy's dubbing was almost perfect and Jack's expressions were priceless. God Bless them both. Thanks for sharing these marvelous entertainers on YOU TUBE.
Hahaha Zigeunerweisen!!!! That was funny :D

@vAIERIEHARPER121 She's not really playing that. But to someone that doesn't really play violin the faking is almost uncanny. Kudos to her.

@Lilyonsan I'm sure she got a 60 second lesson on how to hold the bow before they started filming.

I'll bet she did play sometime in her past. She looks comfortable faking those passages. Thanks ever so much for this.
