No soower you are wrong. By drilling oil that will come in future years the price won't drop immediately. Also OPEC decided to lessen its oil product by millions of barrels meaning the oil that we would drill off shore won't change the price dramatically if foreign oil production decreases because the oil off shore is only 1% of our actuall demand. Yea Clinton and them are really stupid I'm sure glad we aren't in his economy right now...we would already be off oil.

The US is currently the world's 3rd largest oil producer after Saudi and Russia.
However, the 'drill now' people want to give the oil companies leases that don't require them to drill. Big oil is making huge profits as a tight oil market drives prices up, so why would they want to loosen up the supply? They are currently sitting on leases for millions of acres they aren't using, so what makes you think would they drill on new leases? It's just a land grab.
People seem to have the false impression that oil recovered from US territory goes into some kind of 'USA only' oil supply. It doesn't, it goes onto the world oil market, and will only cause oil prices to drop by increasing the global supply somewhat. The OPEC countries will then tighten their supply in response, so the net effect is marginal.
It's not just US companies that want the new drilling leases. There are six 'super major' oil companies, and three of them are foreign owned.

Yeah... gas is about $2.50 right now. I'm not suffering. I'd rather we put the money to alternative sources for the future than drill more oil and set us further back. The best solution for right now? Electricity. We have the infrastructure and the technology to make it work for nearly everyone

I dont get it. How are we punished for helping somebody? I have helped alot of people in my life. They may not be big deeds, but I have put my part in and I have never been punished. Helping a single human being is not hard. It just takes some of your time. thats it. If its a dollar to a homeless child or an outfit to the salvation army or goodwill. Its not hard. They may not be humongous deeds, but they will help somebody in the long run.

No soower you are wrong. By drilling oil that will come in future years the price won't drop immediately. Also OPEC decided to lessen its oil product by millions of barrels meaning the oil that we would drill off shore won't change the price dramatically if foreign oil production decreases because the oil off shore is only 1% of our actuall demand. Yea Clinton and them are really stupid I'm sure glad we aren't in his economy right now...we would already be off oil.

I would suggest a little research.
The US is currently the world's 3rd largest oil producer after Saudi and Russia.
However, the 'drill now' people want to give the oil companies leases that don't require them to drill. Big oil is making huge profits as a tight oil market drives prices up, so why would they want to loosen up the supply? They are currently sitting on leases for millions of acres they aren't using, so what makes you think would they drill on new leases? It's just a land grab.

People seem to have the false impression that oil recovered from US territory goes into some kind of 'USA only' oil supply. It doesn't, it goes onto the world oil market, and will only cause oil prices to drop by increasing the global supply somewhat. The OPEC countries will then tighten their supply in response, so the net effect is marginal.
It's not just US companies that want the new drilling leases. There are six 'super major' oil companies, and three of them are foreign owned.
