The fear of the Lord means to FEAR God. In the Bible when people had visions of God, they fell on their faces like DEAD. In Isaiah 6, Isaiah saw the Lord and believed that God in all His holiness would kill Him! This is what he said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts." That sounds like fear to me.
@BrookHornblower - wow, interesting how you mention Derek Prince cause the latter and Zac Poonen are the only ones whose sermons i watch on the net. Don´t know what did they think about each other, but you can surely say that their preaching is alike. both of them are(were) gifted with discerment and understanding of the Bible thats for sure!
I Thank God for raiseing a Man like Bro Zac in these end times. My Life has been greatly blessed through his messages. I have been delivered from so many bondages and able to experience peace and live for God joyfully, when i go to heaven first thing i will do is praise and worship God and then thank Bro Zac wholeheartedly. The term fear, as used in the Bible regarding our attitude toward God is slightly different than that in the current usage. It's meaning implies deep reverence, and a proper attitude of AWE. It is not to be confused with "trembling with terror" We know who He is and that all life and light, time and space, Truth and Justice are in His hands. Only those who are aware of their unreconciled guilt before Him need to be afraid.
It's not that kind of fear, let me demonstrate it.
You love God for what He did for You, and also just because He loved you. but fearing God is more complicated.
If a man want's you to deny Jesus Christ as savior, then you should fear God more that this man, and the fear that you have for God, is because you are only a human, and God is your creator.
I think this kind of fear has more to do with respect and honor for God. But I do not understand it fully, :) Hope it helps :)

When discipline (the rod) isconsis5tantly and judiciously practiced, you will have a clear and healthy fear of your father as well as your mother but in a healthy balanced family, you will also have a great love, honor and reverence for your parents. This is the easiest way I can explain it.
I understand suffering can be a good teacher. But that doesn't mean its necessary, and certainly not that its a "part" of love in some twisted way. I can promise you, that if you were abused by your father for doing something wrong, the last thing you experience is love. All I ever experienced was fear and hatred for him. And that has driven the family apart. You may think it creates love, but really it inspires blind obediance and slave mentality. That is not true love
By the way, fear of God in the bible means just exactly that; fear. Do not accept a compromised concept of this. Look at John in the beginning of the book of revelations. He was the closest friend to Jesus that we can find documented in the bible, but when he saw the Lord in his Glory, he fell at his feet as dead. Context of the fear of God in scripture is absolutely clear that is means real fear. Hope this helps.

Lyk He forbids U partying late cos He's concerned abt ur well being. So u avoid partying late cos u fear ur dad BUT DO U HATE HIM ? No! U LOVE UR DAD ASWELL U FEAR HIM... But the serial killer ? U fear him cos he's a threat N I bet U wont luv him a bit ... U fear both 1 u fear & luv othr u fear & dont luv... C da diff ? : )
he is deep and needed today. the Holy Spirit through his preaching has renewed my spirit also. never felt such a desire to be holy before.
