@perfectshot77 lol... I train with guys who do "sport" BJJ and I promise you, in a real fight, they'd break your limbs long before you were in any position to "flick them in their eyes".
I always find it amusing that people assume those who train for sport are somehow inept at real-world defense.
@Virility i agree. but it can be effective if combined with something like krav maga or another, so you have strikes and grappling skills. assuming your attacker even knows anything about grappling.
I think it is more about getting used to hip movement while inside half guard. Some actually prefer attacks from half guard and suck from butterfly so they could be more comfortable attacking from half guard
Very nice. I like it. Great warm up with practical hip control memory.

If you play half guard, this is one of the best drills in the world. You can even do it as a solo leg conditioning drill with a little creativity.

true, i guess im more comfortable fromt half than butterfly now that i actually think about it.

lol j31485 good good.. I find butterfly guard is a lot easier to pass then half guard, if you know how to that is.
I love this drill.

why would you ever go from butterfl to half guard? seems like a pointless drill that teaches bad habits.

I've been doing this drill, except i've been changing it a bit, as to me simple pushing away isnt as easy as it sounds :)
I've taught it by hip escaping (shrimping) one each leg, (left, right, left,right)..
But they do it under pressure (the person in guard puts weight on them.
Puts the person on the bottom under more pressure to pivot on the shoulder.
