  • @LohengrinT Leyla Gencer: "Maria had in her blood, in her veins, in her subconscious all the tradition of the Greek Tragedy. She was born that way. In fact, she had her best time during 10 years. That was very short. But the "Myth of La Callas" will continue for ever, because she did so much! She was a magnetic force on stage, the others didn't exist anymore. It's a gift of Nature, a gift of God. It' a talent, a great talent." Read more speak less because you make yourself look silly!

  • @sezgin86

listen more carefully what u listen or read are you a retard or do u on purpose ommit the end of this interview that is actually filmed. This phrase ends: "I am that way too" ahahahahahahhaha

Gencer hated Callas'guts and she was hallucinating that she was better than Callas but she also adored Callas. Scotto on the other hand just hated Callas ;)

  • @LohengrinT "It's a gift of Nature, a gift of God. It' a talent, a great talent. I THINK I HAVE IT, TOO." She never says she is better than Maria Callas. You are the one who is hallucinating. You're a retard to misinterpret such clear sentences in a totally reverse way... Gencer always adored Callas and in some roles she even surpassed Callas because the voices were totally different and one role fitted Callas better and another fitted Gencer better. They all knew this. So please shut up!

  • @sezgin86

Nature was indeed trying to make a second Assoluta when she was making Gencer but at the last minute she changed her mind and made Gencer :)

  • @LohengrinT You're just out of your mind!

  • Beautiful, thanks for posting. What chorus is this? NOT a local chorus of Lausanne, it is TOO GOOD!

  • This demonstrates the secret of singing beautifully. Quite simply (ha ha!) connecting note to note with no noticeable join. It's called Legato, and is one of the most important components of Bel Canto or indeed good singing of any description. What ever other characteristics your voice may or may not have, if you can acheive a true legato, then you're on your way to success. At least that's my opinion.

  • @Tenorgeiger I wonder where you did find legato here? This component of bel canto is almost missing in her singing here - imo

  • @gman20101 You should have your ears checked because some nerves which connect your ear to your brain are apparently missing...

  • bravo Leyla Anne, ruhun sad topragin bol olsun, saygilar

  • not one of her better "recordings".

  • Rich sound, indeed. Perhaps too much vibrato. But not too much. Sounds like a DIVA, and that she was. We need some singers like that nowadays.

  • @cmmenah

I just adore her vibrato. I dont like the englisch way of singing with no vibrato. Perhaps thats my taste of singing. Pronounced voices like Gencer, Zeani and Olivero.

  • @cmmenah I like her vibrato... Funny the video where she speaks about callas, saying: "she had that magnetic aura, I have it too." Callas is more nervous, but I think Leyla got something magnetic too..

  • @FeeTurbule Both of them were DIVAS. Perhaps too much a word for too much a singer. Thanks for your comment.

  • Wow! It sounded rich and emotional! Fantastic. As good as Caballé, Callas and Sills

  • Would have made a wonderful Carmen! Rich voice voice.

  • Very beautiful voice!
