  • I beleive it is safe to say this is the definative recording on YouTube for this song, and you heard me. I said "song"

  • but... overture to what?!

  • @nonnoricky Tchaikovsky's famous 1812 Overture Part 2 ! FFS! Can you read the title of the post to this segment? Manchester's Halle Orchestra performing at the Royal Albert Hall in London. UK!

  • @lincsposter I can perfectly read u idiot!!! 1) there's no need to be rude. and 2) overtures r the beginning of something (opera or ballet)... I know that they can be played alone, but my question was another: this overture is the beginning of what opera/ballet?!

  • @nonnoricky It is not the opening of an opera or ballet! The same as the William Tell Overture! If this was the prelude to an opera or ballet it would be 15 minutes long! No overture to a ballet is that length. Enjoy the music!

  • Amazing!

  • awesome :p

  • Tchaikovsky's famous 1812 Overture Part 1 brought me here

  • WOW that's a lot of people

  • Message: Confidence in humanity's future restored.

  • the poor folks in the front row next to the pyrotecnics are looking for a foxhole

  • the teacher would have liked- le hubiera gustado al maestro

  • 5:04 Alison Balsam??

  • 3:57 , best cue ever

  • Remember remember... V ;)

  • 200 years ago this year, September 7th to be accurate, the battle that this commemorates took place! Let's have a mass listen on that date! Can't really do a flash mob with the Halle.... can we?

  • This audience sucks they don't know how to stfu until the last note decays. Otherwise it was a great performance

  • lol, one of the few youtube videos where the second part gets more hits

  • @DaKrazyKatt With such a spectacular conclusion do you really wonder why? :P

  • @metallhead94 With such a spectacular intro I wonder why not :)

  • Such a fantastic piece. Love it.

  • Wow. Gun powder is a musical instrument.

  • :O

  • 3:12 - Lead trumpet badly misses a note when the cannons fire. How much you want to bet he forgot they were coming and nearly shat himself? :-P

  • Merry Christmas to all Halle Orchestra fans all over the world!

  • B- E-A-UTIFUL!!!!

  • I like finale but every thing are wonderful I like this song that is what i say

  • I hate it when TV shows use the finale on it's own. What makes the finale so truely amazing is everything that came before it.

  • @jackalhunt1 Actually the performance was divided into 2 parts the first part has had almost as many hits as the finale. And the poster is not a TV show!

  • Dari Sabang sampai Merauke......Berjajar Pulau-pulau !!!!!! Greetings from Indonesia

  • Chills and misty eyes. So powerful!!! God bless you wonderful people for visiting this page, you have exceptional taste ;)

  • M0:00RE

  • 4:57

  • You know it's a good performance is good when the audience is on their feet and clapping before the final note. Magnificent.

  • @Tasyanim Redundant post is redundant. Let this be a good note to all: don't post while sleep deprived, kids.

  • @Tasyanim It might be redundant but it is not a post, it is a comment. Clearly you still were sleep deprived a bit.

  • Out of all the pieces i've played...1812 is my favorite

  • Was für ein Finale, das mal Live erleben!

  • EPIC!!!!!!

  • Play this LOUD! Stonking performance by the city of Manchester's world famous orchestra - The Halle! Tell everybody about it! I've put it on my web site!

  • i'm crying, is the most epic piece i ever heard.

  • Epic!

  • This made me tear up. Beautiful performance.

  • I'm playing this (not arranged but the string parts rearranged) in my high school band

Except for the strings I am going to play exactly all 15 minutes of that

  • PURE AWESOMNESS :D!!!

  • @calebaren holy crap you even know the chords.. beats me!!

  • What, no mosh pit?

  • 4:45 - V for Vendetta bit.

  • Butterbean at 05:06

  • The firework in V for Vendetta was much more impressive... ;)

  • We performed an excerpt from this is our last band concert. We loved performing it!!!!! This piece is awesome!!!!!!!

  • 3:12 those fierworks are ok but i have actually seen real canons fiering. the thunder of a canon fits better than those fier works.

  • bravo

  • Only thing lacking is the Parliament blowing up.

  • Stonking performance from the Manchester Halle Orchestra! The city not only famous for it's football teams! Oncore!

  • It is amazing how Tchaikovsky really didn't like this piece but now it is (among non classical music people) his most popular by far. I love how most classical music will calm you down during driving, this will get you a speeding ticket.

  • LOL 4:48 trombone pokes the guy. Best instrument in the world

  • 演出が派手過ぎ

  • I agree on the low brass. I have played this song before, but not to this magnatuide. I played 1st chair Violin. This was one of the toughest overtures I have played. I'm more of the Brandenburg concertos(Bach) type, but this overture is spectacular. I love Tchaikovsky's work. Thanks for the upload of REAL music!! :-)

  • me han puesto la carne de gallina...Fantastico.!

  • @BlueEyesAnime and @BielieberAlwaysSmile

these are the ones that i know...

violin, viola, cello, cymbals, drums, trombones, possibly bass cello, french horn, trumpet, clarinet, cannnons lol, weird chiming thing, and flute. hopefully it helped :)

  • I would like to hear real voice from cannons not voice like firework cannons not voi

  • Excelente me encanta

  • Excitement, joy, adrenaline by god LIVE!

  • Just when you think you've got talent, you hear something like this and realize your only talent is realizing how little talent you have.

  • I need to make a point of listening to this everyday....it get's me going!!

  • please...can somebody say me all the instruments tat they use? i dontknow their names...and it is a homework of my school...

  • @BlueEyesAnime strings, timpani, carillon, bass drum, snare drum, cymbals, tambourine, triangle, cannon

4 horns in f, 2 cornets in Bb, 2 trumpets in Eb, 3 trombones, tuba

piccolo, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, cor anglais, 2 clarinets in Bb, 2 bassoons

    brass band for the finale

  • MOAR CANNONS PLEASE!!!

  • @simoncpu MOAR DAKKA?

  • that was plain and simply stunning

  • I wonder if the Soviets played this after Stalingrad.

  • Hehe

  • I swear the finale gives me chills everytime. I love that low brass

  • @kungfoofighter20 I don't even know how it was possible to hear the strings over the brass. It was excellent.

  • @kungfoofighter20

I can not describe how this makes me feel. i literally had tears rolling. LOVE it. TY Rupert!

  • I demand more liberal use of cannons

  • That was freaking awesome!!!!!

  • I was fortunate enough to hear the Australian Army band to play it. The canons!

  • I loved the explosions :) they reminded me of V for Vendetta

  • Great world heritage performance. Thanks.

  • This is a song that could NEVER be used as an opener, haha. Awesome shit.

  • why do good conductors always look batshit insane

  • @c4binfever Porque los conductores tienen que sentir la obra y hacerla sentir a los instrumentistas. Por eso lucen alocados.

  • @c4binfever Because they are!

  • 5:07 Happiest day of this man's life....

  • @trombonebro Haha fuck yeah! Wait for it... wait for it... ROAR IT!

  • This is like real lofe, when listening to Justin Beaver feels like playing a flash game

  • This is how I feel right now. Epic, explosive and powerful, yeah.

  • The OPPOSITE of Rebecca Black.

  • @UNXPLANEABLE This means you even consider Rebecca Black as music ...... shame on you!!!! :P

  • @UNXPLANEABLE You don't say...

  • Impressive

  • Jqhsgeywhuwbshs usheveywgvevs ya subsume d ywv

  • Bravo, magnificent, stupendous, amazing, spectacular, Awesome, Jaw dropping, all-inspiring, a godsend, Ludicrously Brilliant!!!!! Must I go on?

  • i have tears in my eyes

  • @MrSniperdemon Oh my God Stephen Fry is one talented man. Bloody awsome comedian/actor and a profesional cornet player.

  • 最高ですね!!!

  • fireman needs a metronom ... ;)

  • The Halle are the best orchestra ever!I watched them with Sir John! Classic! No other orchestra comes close! And I stand by my comment above!

  • This is my war song . . . for battling homework.

  • I bet the french horn players are disgusted with themselves every time they perform this piece.

  • @downjl Nah! I'm studying in France and have a test on this tomorrow. They just appreciate the music :)

  • why do they have two brass sections?

  • @mexicanmaf27 The other group is the London Brass band I believe,

  • Look at the conductor's hands fly, bet he was a lonely man at the end of that night.

  • 1812 Overture rocks, you hear it so many times in cartoons and the media. Hey anyone ever noticed the meow mix song on 3:20?

  • ...reminds me also of V for Vendetta... Great, great, great interpretation !

  • Cannons!!

  • As a schoolboy in Manchester, every year we were taken to the Free Trade Hall for a concert by Manchester's Hallé Orchestra. After one concert I went out and bought an LP of the New World Symphony by Dvorak. The Hallé Orchestra's version was mind blowing! This is classic Hallé. One of the world's greatest orchestras!

  • One word !!! SUPREME !!! :)

  • Thumbs if you just watched V for Vendetta.

  • some musical relief...enjoyable...

  • sounds like tom and jerry tales :/

  • Anarchgasm!!

  • Th Russians are masters with full orchestras!

  • Hell this music fill me up with joy :D almost makes me..oh what the hell, lets go NUKE a few countrys just for kicks :D

  • Yup. Thats the way to do it

  • epic.

  • CARAMBA! MUITO BOMMMMMM!

  • i liked the part when the buildings fell

  • France seems like a good target.

  • Great performance! Bravo Mr. Elder! Tempo, sound , balance on this so difficult piece of music. Excellent.!

  • This really rocks

  • This is music

  • @TheMusician3497 ... and not Lady Gaga, Madonna, Britney Spears and all the other crap ...

  • @TheMusician3497 needs more autotune....

  • @TheMusician3497 Music? THIS. IS. SPARTA!!!

  • I'm pretty sure this is the most literal definition of "epic".

  • Download?

  • just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWESOME ! XD

  • Eric Pickles on the trombone 5:06 ! ;D

  • My favorite classical piece.

  • The best kind of music I have ever heard.

  • Picture canons booming, sabres clashing, musket pops

  • Outstanding. Do iPhones have ringtones that last 15 minutes long?

  • Excellent performance except for sound of canon like gun shot

  • Amazing

  • the start to 1:35 perfectly illustrates my criticism. There is supposed to be a high that slowly dissipates, but the high is never there. And no, fake explosives going off in the background is not a high. The rest is very good though.

  • LOL

  • the explosions had to be bigger!!!

  • Nothing says "FUCK YEAH!!" like some pyrotechnics.

  • @rctvy

Or some very loud Brass-Players ;)

  • Truly amazing. But lol @ how they couldn't get the cannon shots in time XD

  • @ikurasake They're aren't supposed to be, I believe.

  • KÁZMÉR! 0:11

  • I HAD TO CLAP FOR THAT!!!!

    beautiful!

  • 3:16 & on....words can not describe the emotion of the music!!!

  • I dont know how it is possible for someone to not enjot this!!

  • @onlinekicker lol! re your comment to me about checking what you post...... i am "enjoting" this! Actually my excuse is two-fold. I have a problem blood vessel in my left eye which means I can only see with blurred vision and secondly my keyboard has lost many key names. But you are correct we should all check what we post! I was just carried away by this stunning performance! Regards!

  • Its at 3:59 that the most EPIC part starts. So powerful.

  • Bravo!

  • An amazing performance by the City of Manchester's world famous Halle Orchestra at The Proms in the Royal Albert Hall in London! Spectacular!
