What he says is to tune your guitar to standard tuning while the capo being on the first fret.So you will have EADGBE while the capo on 1st fret and then take it off... it will be tuned to ( D#G#C#F#A#D# ). I changed the tuning half-step down, but it sounds awful o.o and I know it's half-step down because I used a chromatic tuner :p I even tried the capo method, but it sounds just godawful >_> ironically it sounds just like your version if I leave it in standard tuning

Wait a minute, I figured out an easier way to do this. Just play the standard E major chord, then B major chord, then D major chord, then A major chord without touching the last string (one with the highest pitch) for all chords for: "Look at this photograph", until, "what the hell is on joeys head". Then play the G chord instead for that other one on the 3rd fret. It sounds almost exactly the same, and it's pretty easy for those with weaker fingers

They did this song in an issue of Guitar World Acoustic Rock but with a different strum pattern, they have D U U D U U DUDU. It still sounds great either way. Other than that this video is pretty much the same.

Awesome lesson only thing i have to say is when you put that capo on there it "holds" the strings down tight and when you tune it affects the way its tuned once you take it off :P

the strings are all put under the same tension so while it may not be in 100% Eb tuning, each string will be in tune in relation to the others, it won't be off enough for anyone to notice, the notes will be a little sharp in each case which is actually better than being flat, it gives the notes a little lift if they are in tune with each other
