    O_O Happy Happy Joy Joy

  • I TOLD YA I'D SHOOT!!! BUT YOU DIDN'T BELIEVE ME!!!

    WHY DIDN'T YOU BELIEVE ME!!!

  • I've never seen this film before, so I want to ask about the last shot showing Hayley Mills' character coming towards the duo. What was she approaching them for?

  • @1987AnimeBoy Gosh, I would have to watch the movie again to be able to tell you. I don't remember. You should watch the movie to find out. I know you would love it.

  • @1987AnimeBoy

Hayley and her family were spending the summer there. Summer Magic is a great show you really have to watch it. I am not going to post any spoilers. I love the show.

  • What a catchy tune and great voice from Burl Ives! I love the music. So 60s. I'm only 22, why couldn't this be my generation? I remember this song from the sing-along song videotapes.

  • @stevarino1989 It was a great time to be young. At least you have the films to enjoy now :)

  • Burl Ives and my grandmother went to music school together. She helped him with his music theory and wrote songs with him - a long time ago.

  • @hermanzoon That is wonderful. He is an American legend. Thank you for sharing.

  • @LoreneFaith I missed my one chance to meet him when he performed at the university I attended. It would have been a good moment.

  • @hermanzoon That would have been the moment of a lifetime to be sure!

  • We make stir fry out of those in Asia =). Yummie.

  • Come on let's crawl (gotta crawl, gotta crawl) to the ugly bug ball (to the ball to the ball)

  • I'm so high hehehehehe

  • I was working at a school many years ago and the kids in the adjacent room were singing this and they absolutely nailed it. Sent shivers up me spine it did.

  • Im 18, & a fan of Cradle of Filth, but I Love this song. Kinda of funny in a way.

  • Well, I never used to care for this song. Until I saw Burl Ives in person. After seeing how benevolent he looks, and his little smile, I can't help but appreciate him and like this song. Thank you for posting!

  • @Vyto16 Burl Ives is a American legend. There will never be another like him. It is wonderful that you were able to see him in person.

  • LMFAO I PISSED

  • @robertaplantledzep That is awesome! He is quite a pleasant looking fellow then :)

  • Ahhhh! I remember singing this years back in our school assembly! :)

  • Burl Ives is a BEAST.

    Whatta guy...

  • @N30NN4ILPOLISH You have an awesome history teacher!

  • This is one of the first songs I remember learning as a girl. Summer Magic was one of our favorite movies growing up. Gotta love Haliey Mills and Burl Ives.

  • @theatomicmom I do gotta love them, and I do :)

  • Burl Ives is a legend.

  • @Schalk3 I totally agree.

  • I remember seeing Summer Magic when it was first released and have loved this song ever since. Burl Ives has an amazing tone to his voice. Thank you for letting me re-live a wonderful childhood memory.

  • @andytrex Burl Ives is a one of a kind and he does have a very unique voice that makes any song unforgettable. I am so glad that I could be a part of bringing back a wonderful childhood memory :)

  • This is on my history teacher's ipod and he played it one day and we're all like...WTF????

  • @N30NN4ILP0LISH This song is also on my iPod Touch. Awesome song considering from an older Disney film, really. After all,a Disney song doesn't need to be "new" or "popular" or even in a hip-hop rhythm(Like most Disney songs these days....Ugh!)to automatically be considered a good song by Disney's standards. I've loved this song ever since the very first time I heard it & I'm not even a big fan of bugs,to be honest. Must be a "girl thing" to not like bugs,I suppose. LOL!

  • @iristhevampiress Haha Ikr :)

  • This song was featured in Disney Sing Along Songs The Bare Nesscities which was Vol 4 and this is a cool song!

  • love this song

  • Try Asian women **busizz4me.info**

  • I has the Disney classics CD, and I used to replay this song over and over. It's awesome!

  • I started singing something silly the other day to this tune without thinking - then when I stopped I thought "where did *that* tune come from?"

And then I realised! And burst out into song. My cat just stared at me like I was an idiot.

  • This song is fantastic. XD

  • just love this song.... oh yeah baby!

  • For some reason, this is how I've always imagined having the DTs would be.

    Norm

  • 2:15 LOL XD XD

  • bugs are so cute ^^

  • @rubitu21 You're right! They are so ugly that they are cute!

  • @LoreneFaith except for bedbugs!

  • @justcogitating I agree with you on that one. I hope that I never meet a bedbug!

  • I agree! The caterpillar with the white tussocks on its back and the fuzzy antenna used to appear in my garden as a child. I named him Fluffy ;)

  • how can anyone not like this song?? even my 3 year old son tries to sing this

  • I used to watch Summer Magic a lot back in the 1980s, back when the Disney Channel was actually good to watch, what with all its classic Disney. Sadly, I watched it so much then that I can't get interested in watching it again. I still think it's good, but you get tired of filet mignon eventually if that's all you eat.

  • "The little critters of Nature. They don't know that they're ugly". Lol. I'm sure that Ren & Stimpy used that line.

  • Burl seems like such a sweet person=) This song is adorable!

  • It was heard on "The Bare Necessities."

  • Oh childhood, I dare say I miss you.

  • Was this the guy who played Sam the Snowman in the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer X-mas special?

  • @stefanieluvschocolat Yes, Burl Ives was the voice of the snowman :)

  • I just noticed that there are no 'thumbs down' for this video, just as it should be. No one could possibly hate this masterpiece of a song!

  • @Hauptseite I totally agree!

  • @Hauptseite check again

  • Such a nice warm voice from Mr. Ives.

  • good song

  • RIP Burl Lves ^__^ wonderful man

  • @GreenBlossom45 And he was a Freemason.

  • @kryptonianpowers O.o he a what ?

  • @GreenBlossom45 A Freemason is a member of a widely distributed secret order that has been around since at least since the Middle Ages, where it is an international fraternal and charitable organization with secret rites and signs.

  • Ich war mal mit einer Britin liiert, wenn die gute Laune hatte sang die immer dieses LIed. Ich höre das zum ersten Mal im Original.

  • Thanks heaps. Maybe I can find it and watch it again. When I looked for one of his to rent all I could get was Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Thanks again.

  • "The little creatures of nature, They don't know that they're ugly", Now I know where Ren and Stimpy got that line from.

  • i gotta sing this in a performance...nervous but seems easy enough

  • Thank you for posting this song. I used to have this song on a vinyl LP of Disney songs from the 1930s to the 1970s. It's one of my favorites from my childhood. Sadly, I lost the LP in a fire., but oh the memories!

  • love this song!

  • This man is great.

    :D

  • I grew up on this. What a classic! :)

  • I'd actually never seen Burl Ives before - I'm listening to this song and keep envisioning the snowman from Rudolph singing this XD

  • You gotta be a young person. :}

  • Hehe, caught me. I'm 19 :-)

  • Wow this is the best version quality wise that I have seen of this! Thanks for uploading. IMHO Burl is the greatest Folk singer ever! So smooth and talented. Boy could he play that Banjo! Miss him!

  • I miss him too. He was such a unique performer!

  • man i love this song!!!

  • Thanks for posting this!! The song is hilarious. I first heard it like 15 yrs ago & I still can't get this song out of my head. LOL.

  • It is one of those songs that you never forget and Burl Ives is a legend not to be forgotten either.

  • lol

  • The bridge is a total ripoff of "Baby Elephant Walk."

  • so what hehe, just enoy the song

    ---Self-proclaimed kid-at-heart

  • Is it true that this song wasn't in the original script, Burl Ives adlibed the whole song and they stuck with it?

  • No, the Sherman Brothers wrote this song for the film.

  • thanks

  • i love that song!!

  • Heard this played on xmas day morning, on the radio and remember it from one of those Disney albums I had in the 70's as a kid, and I've been playing this video a few times now, because its just so catchy, Burl Ives voice really draws you in....never really knew what movie it was from, but I do now... thanks!!

  • Burl Ives was a legend. There will never be another like him.

  • I love the ragtime bit at the beginning. This was a fun movie. Disney really fell off the boat later with their live action output.

  • This just took me back to my childhood....too long ago, excellent

  • It does the same for me. This movie always gives me that happy, feel good feeling of childhood :)

  • Burl Ives . . . did a sweeter man ever exist?

  • He is a legend. There will never be another.

  • So Glad To Hear It! :)

  • I'm enjoying this far too much.

  • The wonders of evolution!

  • What a treat! Two of my all time heroes, Burl Ives and Walt Disney. I had the thrill of a lifetime back in 1993, when I took my wife and kids to Disneyland, in California.

We had to go back the next day, too much to fit in. I always thought this song had a cartoon connection in the film. I must be getting mixed up with, `Hoppity goes to town`, that was made by Max Fleischer {Popeye} another of my heroes.

  • I spent 3 days at Disneyland last time that I went. There is so much to see and so much entertainment too. Disneyland is such a wonderful place. I can't imagine how many days would be needed to see all of Disney World!

  • Summer Magic was the first film I saw at the cinema. I LOVED IT!

  • annie thanks for the share and LoreneFaith thanks for posting this fond memorie. peace,sailor8285

  • I heard this on the Ian Collins radio show a week or so ago. I haven't been able to stop humming it. It's catchy as all hell!

  • WHOA thats so weird I remeber seeing this moving now when I was little except I dont remeber there being so many bugs hmmm...

  • Love this song, although I've nver seen the movie

  • omg memories!!!!!!!

  • OMG! this is one of the best kids songs ever! my mom used to sing this to me when i was little

  • legendary!

  • I believe the kid was Jerry Mathers..later to become the "Beaver".

  • Not likely. This came out five years after "Leave it to Beaver" started, and it's not Jerry Mathers anyway. How's about his younger brother Jimmy Mathers?

  • it's been awhile since i last saw this .i think i was only 6 or 7 maybe. thanks for this .

  • i used to love this song when i was little and watched this movie all the time lol i still love this movie?!

  • I remember this song from when I was sooooooooo young, brings back memories. I thought the video title rang a bell when I saw it lol

  • I find this video to be rather creepy. I've never heard of this movie, but now I'm really interested in it.

  • You should see it. It's good. The "choreography" of the bugs with the music in this clip is amazing. Most of the movie is not about bugs though.

  • It is a wonderful movie with alot of great songs. Check it out!

  • This song makes me smile :)

  • It is adorable!

  • Wonderful!

  • Love this song and this movie! Thanks so much for posting.

  • Your welcome. I am glad you enjoy it!

  • The legendary Burl Ives.....great clip.

  • Yes Burl Ives is a legend. There will never be another just like him. I love so many of his songs.
