Ummm, no one has ever stated a belief in "Magic Underpants". That borders on bigoted....we we do wear garments: an outward symbol (outward to ourselves obviously and no one else!!) and reminder of the covenants we make with God.
"Magic"? No one ever claimed them to be magic. They are symbolic reminders of the commitments Mormons make to serve God. And the protective element... its God's power. Magic? Magic isn't real. God's power is. If you're a Christian, think twice about scoffing at garments. You are in essence mocking God's power.

the only magic is when i wear this my dong is getting bigger so i can shove it on Francs ass and then in his mouth and then take it out and shove it on his mothers ass. ha ha ha ha ha
I have pushed several of them on this usage of the word "magic", none of them can find one single reference to the LDS church calling them magic. They use the word because an actual explanation of what LDS "underwear" is would make way to much sense and serve to further normalize Mormons. So, when you can beat them, make up lies about them! I'm Mormon, I'm used to it.
What is it about Mormons that is so mindless? Could you give an actual example, or do you just like throwing out character attacks with no backup whatsoever?
I normally do not throw out Character attacks. In this case my only reasonable rebuttal to the belief in magic clothing is mockery.
If a hobo runs up to you and exclaims his left foot is a banana, do you try discuss the logical ramifications of why he is wrong? Or do you just chuckle to yourself and feel bad or walk off?
This is the case with the magic-Mormon underpants. Such a ridiculous idea defies reasonable conversation.
Mormons are simply brainwashed into fantasy. AKA gullible.
Mormons don't believe their underpants are Magical, you wont find one reference to it except from non-Mormons.
Mormons make commitments to God such as maintaining sexual purity, avoiding alcohol and drugs, committing time to growing the church etc. The garment is worn as a reminder of these covenants. Thats the full truth, but I suppose when you want to make a video or topic interesting the best thing to do is think back to Journalism 101 and start making crap up.
Normally I would believe you that such a ridiculous belief of Magic Mormon Underpants was just something a journalist made up. But I think evidence can be found that this stuff is real doctrine in Mormonism. Do a youtube search for "60 minutes on Magic Mormon underpants" and listen to high church leaders talking about the 'protective' powers.
You said Mormons don't believe their underpants are magical. Well those Mormons are not true Mormon because the Mormon Leaders believe in the 'MMU'.
Again, you take your information from video mashups that have an agenda. Lets say a Mormon considers getting drunk or having sex outside of marrige dangerous activities. Well, if wearing a garment that is supposed to remind you not to do those things can actually help you to refrain in a moment of weakness, wouldnt you say the garments were protective of the wearer in that circumstance?
Your technically right, but we need to remind people that the "Magic Mormon Underpants" are not magically delicious. They are simply reminders.
I can understand how brainwashing people into delusion that they ARE magical is useful. But lying to people doesn't sit too well with me.
You keep saying that the 'mmu' is not true doctrine. Look up "temple garment". Are you telling me that 60 minutes made a slanderous video about the Mormon Leaders saying the Temple Garments have magic powers?
My entire point is that the LDS church absolutely does not teach that the garments have magical powers. Are there stories of individuals who feel they were protected by their garment? Absolutely, but they hardly represent the majority of Mormons, And even if someone believed they were blessed for wearing the garment, that would not make it magical, it would just mean they think God blessed them for recognizing their covenants through wearing the garment.
Your telling me that the garments do not have magic powers and then you turn around and tell me that God blesses those people who recognize the covenants with LDS by wearing the garments.
The problem is that you think "God blessing" does not fall under the category of magic. When God blesses anything, that means magic occurred, a celestial deity came and fiddled with the world.
I'm afraid your brainwashed into delusion too because your also convinced that God blesses you for what clothing.
AHHHH, I'm talking to an Atheist aren't I? Ok, this makes much more sense now. Well, here will be my final point then. If God blessing a person is "magical" in your eyes, why are there not videos being made about all the magic that Bhuddist, Muslims and Mainstream Christians believe happens when they pray or do a good deed or wear the cross etc. Why attack only Mormons for believing God blesses them when half the world shares similar beliefs?
"I don't see youtube videos of other people's magical powers from their deities so therefore only Mormons have magical powers".
I can't converse with this level of ignorance, you need to actually look to other religion's beliefs and take off your Mormon goggles before you go telling me what isn't there.
All forms of magic are just fantasy and delusion to nab your time, effort and money to route it to causes dictated by others.
Ok, fair enough. If you do not believe in God at all, then certainly the idea of doing anything that creates "blessings" would seem magical. I have not always had a strong belief in God so I completely understand where you are coming from. I was arguing because I thought you were coming from the viewpoint of believing God does bless people, but wouldn't bless Mormons, which of course would be absurd. Cheers
There might be a God, I would be interested in one shred of evidence for any kind of deity. I am not partial to your Mormon God or Christian God or Hindu God's or Jewish God's. I think Gods are just an idea that some people use to control others. Just like a carpenter uses a hammer to bang nails, Leaders use religion to direct the less intelligent masses to unite to common goals. Religion is pure and good, or evil and bad based on the desire systems of those intellectuals in control.
You must admit, Mitt seems to be quite confident during his "religion" speech - probably because he is sporting his Mormon underwear. I've been told it is common practice to match these "sacred" undergarments with your tie. Alas, we can assume Mitt is wearing cerulean blue undergarments. Perhaps the banana-sling thong model, for this privileged occasion.
While I don't support the LDS church, actually think they study a perverted distorted version of the bible, but if you are going to take a stab at religious clothing, perhaps you should include the Jews, Catholics, Buddhists, Hindus, and many other religions who wear sacred garments. Whether its a Yamika, A nuns Habit, A monks Robe, and prayer caps.
Also, why would "flip flopping" be bad in that case? It shows he thinks, unlike a lot of religious zealots out there who blow themselves up rather than take in new information and "flip flop" on their beliefs. It's an extreme example, but it's the same principal. It's also called the "Scientific Method" in other schools of thought. "Flip-flopping" is NOT ALWAYS consummate with weak morals (although politicians like you to think that).
The man has taken totally opposite social positions depending upon which audience he needed to woo. He's not a thinker, he's a hypocrite with no convictions whatsoever.
I had to give this some thought. I am openly gay and live in Utah. I am NOT LDS (aka Mormon). However, this question is totally mocking the LDS church. As a gay person how do you feel when people mock you? And just because you feel he has put gay people down in the past does that make it ok to mock someone else's beliefs just because you don't under stand them? This right here is the problem I see for gays and all people is we can't show a little respect for the differences we all have.
IT is Mitt Romney and the GOP who has made religion an issue in the Presidential campaign. Hence I have a right to ask about his magic panties. That's why religion has no place in politics.
Just an FYI about what you are talking about. They are called garments and all people who are considered temple worthy wear them. My guess is that Mitt would be temple worthy so yes he wears them. And according to the LDS faith, no you shouldn't switch from your calvins.
You mean like a magic cross people wear around their necks to protect them? Or magic bread and wine that turn into the body and blood of man that has been dead for over 2000 years? Even if they do have underwear that symbolizes something holy, I don't think it's that crazy compared to any other Religious views. It's even less relevant.
I DON'T CARE if you believe in magic butt plugs. I just don't think religion, faith or lack thereof should be a consideration in politics. The GOP has made religion an issue, hence I feel it entirely appropriate to let EVERYONE know that Mitt believes in magic underpants or temple garments, as you call them. Let everybody then form their own opinion about whether or not their next president should be wearing magic undies.
I'm not bashing anything in the manner that Romney and the GOP bash gays. I'm merely letting Romney's religious beliefs be know and if people find them as ridiculous as I do, so be it.
Romney has bashed atheists enough that I don't care.
He believes that native Americans are a lost tribe of Israel and that Jesus Christ will return to the real Jerusalem located in US. Joseph Smith (who was a con artist) found magic gold plates that nobody could see written in Egyptian in his own backyard. Not bashing to explain the beliefs, magic underwear is pretty mellow.
He's also now calling for Craig to resign on account of his "disgusting" behavior but I didn't hear him cry out that Viters should resign. Maybe he just wants to once again do some Gay bashing. Romney is nothing more than a loathsome opportunist whose positions change which ever way the political winds blow.
Well, Vitter wasn't supporting him on several videos. Yeah, there's an obvious doublestandard there, but Romney needs to distance himself and do so quickly. As such attacking Craig isn't only out of hypocrisy but also strategy. He needs to run far away from Craig's comments that Romney shares his values.
Th only values Romney holds dear to his heart is the need to win. He's pro-abortion and then anti-bortion, pro-gay rights, then anti-gay rights, pro-universal health care, then against it,pro-stem cell research, then against it. In other words, the worst kind of flip-=flopper.
Nothing wrong with changing your opinions on issues. I use to believe somethings which I no longer believe. *shrug* I think the fact that he's against abortion, gay-rights and stem-cell research is enough to condemn him even if he never held the opposite opinion.
What this has to do with the debate is this: Romney and the GOP has made faith iand important issue in the campaign. Hence I want to know about his faith and whether or not he wears these ridiculous magic panties. I think the nation would think twice about electing someone who does. The point is Religion should not be a part of the campaign on any level: separation of church and state and keep what you wear under your pants to yourself.
There not "magic" underpants! There a sacred undergarment Mormons wear to remind them of their covenants to God and for physical and spiritual protection! Mormons are not the only religion to have sacred articles of clothing! Other religions that have sacred articles of clothing include Jews, Muslims, and many others! Also, what in the world does this question have to do with a presidential debate?
Since you believe they protect you from harm, that makes them fall into the category of "magic" just as the Christian who believes a St Christopher medal protects their car from accidents, the medal being somehow magical. If you're so proud of these temple garments, stop being so disingenuous about them.
You are using the word magic in a derogatory way! Sacred and magic are two separate things! Magic means "the use of means (as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces" We do not place spells and incantations on the undergarments! Saying there "magic" is your way of belittling our belief! God does not deal in magic, the protection he gives over the garments is a sacred one!
Read "Mitt Romney's Top Ten Gaffes" - great article on time . com if you want to see the real person behind the pre-programmed candidate. Some of his remarks are very scary...btw, has he bothered to comment on the tragic Utah miners who have died? Or cared enough for a visit? Too late now...
I was brainwashed into the mormon church and can tell you that mormons indeed still believe in magic underwear, because I too was fooled into wearing them.
It is so embarrassing that I was so gullible--I was such a sucker. V L --
I sure wouldn't. I also woouldn't trust our national defense to someone who thinks an Angel appeared to a charlatan in the desert and gave him another Book to the Bible.
Yeah, look at the mess the last religious fanatic we elected has made. Iraq was better off with the murderous dictator than the never ending terror they have now.
umm he doesn't believe in magic underpants. He believes that they are a token of a covenant made in the temple and that they can help protect against temptation and even harm. How? Because the universe favors righteous people over wicked people.
Hmmmm..Where do women get Hiv from?? Men who are bisexual..Gay.. I agree it is a problem.. But I am glad that you are so up on your HIV studies because you'll need to be.
Boy are you stupid. Women get AIDS from their cheating husbands who have sex with prostitutes who've had sex with infected drug users and other people who've had AIDS. The husbands then give it to their wives who don't know they're infected because neither get an AIDS test. And if your husband has multiple wives or sex partners the possibilities are endless for spreading the infection. You are more at risk than I am because I practice safe sex. Do you even know how to use a condom?
And he is not antigay he is just pro children. Every child deserves a mom and a dad. Divorce happens, death happens, but every child needs one mom and one dad. And the fact that you don't understand that is just freaky.
And this is disputed by all studies on children raised by Gay couples. Children raised by gay couples are no more or less disenfranchised than those raised by heterosexual couples. Besides which children are a totally separate issue: the issue is the right to marry, not the right to raise children. As usual another muddled answer from a Right Wing conservative.
It has only been in the last few years that they have anything to go on.
And also who can decide who gets to have mom and who doesn't Children are people not possessions. You are an adult you have a right to choose your lifestyle. Children don't. YOu are stupid and selfish!
Wrong again.. America is not going to elect a president that wears magic panties. Personally I don't care what he wears but if he wants to make faith an issue in this campaign, then he's available for all kinds of stupid questions like these. The only bigot in the room is Mitt with his blatant hate-mongering anti-gay politics.
Also.... The homosexual lifestyle is extremely dangerous! Putting something into a hole that was not designed to go there makes enormous health issues for people who practice it. One of them being AIDS! We get warned about the dangerous of smoking and transfats, but not about the dangers of this lifestyle? Purely political
You clearly know nothing about anything. The highest % of AIDS infection is now in heterosexual woman, not homosexuals. Unsafe sexual practices whether homosexual or heterosexual can lead to AIDS.
The group with the highest percentage of new HIV/AIDS infections is heterosexual women of color. Go read a book other than the BOOK OF MORMON and you might learn something: you're ignorant.
lobbiesreform seems like my kinda guy. What people don't seem to be getting is that the absurdity of the question reflects the absurdity of some beliefs. There were dinosaurs, people, and they were not crammed onto an ark.
Fabulously funny! IF Mitt is going to put religion out there, then I agree it's entirely appropriate that people ask him if he wears and believes in "Temple Garments" or as they are known in the vernacular "Magic Underpants". When people see how stupid his sacred religious beliefs are, they'll think twice about voting for this lying, pompous, flip-fliper.
As long as Mitt is part of the GOP which has made a public statement of religion, the public then has a right to know all about Mitt's religion and if wearing magic underpants is part of his idiotic religion, the public deserves to know all about it. P.S. I don't wear underwear.
No, mormons do NOT wear "magic underpants". They wear Temple Garments. There's nothing "magic" about them. They serve as a constant reminder to the wearer of the promises they have made to follow Christ all the days of their life. This reminder helps them have a spiritual protection from wordly influences. But there's no "magic" involved. I'm a wearer of these garments... I should know.
I think you are a person who couldn't keep the promises. So Your conscience bothers you big time, so you have to spend your life trying to make it wrong and fighting against it. That is so sad for you and it will just give you heartburn.Suggestions get out more, take a class on knitting or sewing..
Come on Mormons, stop trying to bullshit us. You can play all the fancy word games yiu want, but facts are facts, you believe in magic underwear.

Tatarize 4 years ago
He's also now calling for Craig to resign on account of his "disgusting" behavior but I didn't hear him cry out that Viters should resign. Maybe he just wants to once again do some Gay bashing. Romney is nothing more than a loathsome opportunist whose positions change which ever way the political winds blow.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
Well, Vitter wasn't supporting him on several videos. Yeah, there's an obvious doublestandard there, but Romney needs to distance himself and do so quickly. As such attacking Craig isn't only out of hypocrisy but also strategy. He needs to run far away from Craig's comments that Romney shares his values.
Tatarize 4 years ago
Romney is just another GOP hypocrite.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
Th only values Romney holds dear to his heart is the need to win. He's pro-abortion and then anti-bortion, pro-gay rights, then anti-gay rights, pro-universal health care, then against it,pro-stem cell research, then against it. In other words, the worst kind of flip-=flopper.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
Nothing wrong with changing your opinions on issues. I use to believe somethings which I no longer believe. *shrug* I think the fact that he's against abortion, gay-rights and stem-cell research is enough to condemn him even if he never held the opposite opinion.

What this has to do with the debate is this: Romney and the GOP has made faith iand important issue in the campaign. Hence I want to know about his faith and whether or not he wears these ridiculous magic panties. I think the nation would think twice about electing someone who does. The point is Religion should not be a part of the campaign on any level: separation of church and state and keep what you wear under your pants to yourself.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
There not "magic" underpants! There a sacred undergarment Mormons wear to remind them of their covenants to God and for physical and spiritual protection! Mormons are not the only religion to have sacred articles of clothing! Other religions that have sacred articles of clothing include Jews, Muslims, and many others! Also, what in the world does this question have to do with a presidential debate?
jjones1987 4 years ago
Since you believe they protect you from harm, that makes them fall into the category of "magic" just as the Christian who believes a St Christopher medal protects their car from accidents, the medal being somehow magical. If you're so proud of these temple garments, stop being so disingenuous about them.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
You are using the word magic in a derogatory way! Sacred and magic are two separate things! Magic means "the use of means (as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces" We do not place spells and incantations on the undergarments! Saying there "magic" is your way of belittling our belief! God does not deal in magic, the protection he gives over the garments is a sacred one!
jjones1987 4 years ago
Semantics. Look that up in the dictionary.

And should we trust our national defense to a guy who believes in magic underpants?
eighthourlunch 4 years ago
I sure wouldn't. I also woouldn't trust our national defense to someone who thinks an Angel appeared to a charlatan in the desert and gave him another Book to the Bible.
moviefoyer78 4 years ago
Actually, they believe it was in the woods, but whatever. Hell, I'd have reason to distrust him if he walked in with *only* a Bible.
eighthourlunch 4 years ago
Yeah, look at the mess the last religious fanatic we elected has made. Iraq was better off with the murderous dictator than the never ending terror they have now.
johnPhilos 4 years ago
umm he doesn't believe in magic underpants. He believes that they are a token of a covenant made in the temple and that they can help protect against temptation and even harm. How? Because the universe favors righteous people over wicked people.
BruceDude1982 4 years ago
Right! *Magic*.
eighthourlunch 4 years ago
If he believes they can "protect against temptation and even harm" , then he believes they are magical.

Hmmmm..Where do women get Hiv from?? Men who are bisexual..Gay.. I agree it is a problem.. But I am glad that you are so up on your HIV studies because you'll need to be.
LOUETTA12 4 years ago
Boy are you stupid. Women get AIDS from their cheating husbands who have sex with prostitutes who've had sex with infected drug users and other people who've had AIDS. The husbands then give it to their wives who don't know they're infected because neither get an AIDS test. And if your husband has multiple wives or sex partners the possibilities are endless for spreading the infection. You are more at risk than I am because I practice safe sex. Do you even know how to use a condom?
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
He doesn't need a condom because he has magic undies that protect him.
johnPhilos 4 years ago
And he is not antigay he is just pro children. Every child deserves a mom and a dad. Divorce happens, death happens, but every child needs one mom and one dad. And the fact that you don't understand that is just freaky.
LOUETTA12 4 years ago
And this is disputed by all studies on children raised by Gay couples. Children raised by gay couples are no more or less disenfranchised than those raised by heterosexual couples. Besides which children are a totally separate issue: the issue is the right to marry, not the right to raise children. As usual another muddled answer from a Right Wing conservative.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
It has only been in the last few years that they have anything to go on.
And also who can decide who gets to have mom and who doesn't Children are people not possessions. You are an adult you have a right to choose your lifestyle. Children don't. YOu are stupid and selfish!
LOUETTA12 4 years ago
who desides who gets christian parents who not, its all right to have same-sex parents, they dont enforce their lifestyle like christian do
fkteld 4 years ago
Wrong again.. America is not going to elect a president that wears magic panties. Personally I don't care what he wears but if he wants to make faith an issue in this campaign, then he's available for all kinds of stupid questions like these. The only bigot in the room is Mitt with his blatant hate-mongering anti-gay politics.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
Who is making faith an issue? I thought you were a bigot but now I know you are just stupid. He doesn't want to make faith an issue. You do.
LOUETTA12 4 years ago
The entire GOP makes "being a man of faith" an issue in their campaigns. Stop being so stupid.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
Also.... The homosexual lifestyle is extremely dangerous! Putting something into a hole that was not designed to go there makes enormous health issues for people who practice it. One of them being AIDS! We get warned about the dangerous of smoking and transfats, but not about the dangers of this lifestyle? Purely political
LOUETTA12 4 years ago
You clearly know nothing about anything. The highest % of AIDS infection is now in heterosexual woman, not homosexuals. Unsafe sexual practices whether homosexual or heterosexual can lead to AIDS.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
Oh so heterosexual women have the highest infection of aids? LOL Now I know you are completely nuts. (no pun intended)
LOUETTA12 4 years ago
The group with the highest percentage of new HIV/AIDS infections is heterosexual women of color. Go read a book other than the BOOK OF MORMON and you might learn something: you're ignorant.

I strongly advise lobbiesforme to get an account at DailyKos and post this there. It might even make the front page!
Make sure Crooks & Liars knows about it too. Maybe if we're lucky it could get mentioned on Air America or even by the DNC.

lobbiesreform seems like my kinda guy.

When people see how stupid his sacred religious beliefs are, they'll think twice about voting for this lying, pompous, flip-fliper.
moviefoyer78 4 years ago
As long as Mitt is part of the GOP which has made a public statement of religion, the public then has a right to know all about Mitt's religion and if wearing magic underpants is part of his idiotic religion, the public deserves to know all about it. P.S. I don't wear underwear.
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
No, mormons do NOT wear "magic underpants". They wear Temple Garments. There's nothing "magic" about them. They serve as a constant reminder to the wearer of the promises they have made to follow Christ all the days of their life. This reminder helps them have a spiritual protection from wordly influences. But there's no "magic" involved. I'm a wearer of these garments... I should know.
mpetrie 4 years ago
And do you not believe that they protect you? Doesn't that make them magical? By the way, what do the Masonic symbols on them mean ?
lobbiesforme 4 years ago
I think you are a person who couldn't keep the promises. So Your conscience bothers you big time, so you have to spend your life trying to make it wrong and fighting against it. That is so sad for you and it will just give you heartburn.Suggestions get out more, take a class on knitting or sewing..

Mormons also can't spell: you don't "were" anything but you do wear magic undergarments, even if you call them Temple Garments these days.

I have a question for you? Do you have a brian? Expect some very very very bad luck in your life.
