  • Smooth...

  • Frank Sinatra is better!

  • @Ambush47p I think they're two very different versions as Frank sinatra's version was a happy swingman version of what sounded to be a man that just fallen in love while NGE version Rei's in particular sounded much more gothic as if she still in love but either the love is unanswered (asuka) or doesn't even exist (rei)

  • much better than americans......

  • Let me see what spleen is like on Jupiter and Mars

  • is rei...because at the end...she is the key for the salvation of the humans all over the world...she is the one who kill all the people, leaving only the earth without humans except for two...and then the earth and the moon still dancing for a long time before humans come back...

  • i think is rei, because all at the end, she si who became in ultimate angel, and transform the world into a dead planet with the only company of the moon in the eternity...

  • Is that Rei or Shinji spinning in the background?

  • this brings back so many good memories... damn it i wished i was kid again!

  • @bazengao Same here !

  • It's not as bad as you try to tell, though as we all know it, japanese usually have a strange view on english spelling...

  • Fry me to der moon and lemme pray among der stars. Lemme see what sprung is like on Jupitum and Murs.

  • @ariel12955 you could fry me to der moon any time alier

  • brings back so much old memories ;']

  • The first time that I've heard the song "Fly Me To The Moon" was when I've first watched this anime. .

  • love this song. love this show. :D

  • Always been my favourite version. Always will be.

  • @LuNAHYDE1991 I think this might actually be Yoko Takahashis' version of it. Although Megumi Hayashibara did record a version of it also.

  • @wheem001 Yep, this is Takahashi's version. Perhaps because I first saw EVA on Adult Swim (in which they only played a truncated version of these credits), I like this version the best!

  • I actually like this version.

  • yeah the song is an old jazz standard. Maybe Sinatra's take was the actual "single", I'm pretty sure his version is the most famous.

What baffles me is, WHY did this pick this song as the "ending theme" for NGE? Anyone have a clue on that?

  • @loudampsfastbikes I've always thought of Rei while listening to this song, she's also associated with the moon.

  • Wikipedia says that 31 different versions of this song have been made for Evangelion's TV series and films! Isn't that crazy~

  • @StarfishFuuko thanks for that info, pisses me off though, cause i like some versions more then others and i cant find that 1 i really want...

  • @StarfishFuuko thanks for that info, pisses me off though, cause i like some versions more then others and i cant find that 1 i really want...

  • This song grew on me, when I first heard it I was like "eh it's okay..." then after I heard it more and more it became one of favorite and nostalgic songs

  • @Zizerx11 me too I like it specifically bcause its from evangelion

  • I heard "fly to the moon" on NGE that whenever I hear this song in movies or on radio, I think of the anime.

  • so simple yet effective, just a relaxing song after a hectic episode. One of the few endings I watched every time.

  • hey isnt this the bayonetta theme

  • lol,isn't this a Frank Sinatra song

  • @DemonKingHiro Frank, among others, sang it too.

So, to answer your question, yes. It is.

  • @DemonKingHiro

    It's a Bart Howard song.

    Frank Sinatra covered it.

  • When I saw this I was like nah probably just the translator's joke or something, but then I said oh fuck you serious brah?

  • It's not actually that bad.

  • bayonetta?

  • wolds, folevel, adole LOOOOOOOOOOLOLOLOLOL

  • You expect a man who lived 41 years in Sweden to speak a British accent? Give her a break, she's singing her best.

  • I like it how every episode has someone else covering it.

  • i heard this in a movie on time... damn. i cant think of it though.

  • @sPiNeY156 the movie must be old clint's Space Cowboys (its'how i discovered this song myself)

  • FLY ME TO THE MOON it's called. Like this so people who don't know the song would then know it.

  • Fry me to the moon...

  • @dr1nk1ngm3rcury ROFLROFLROFL. you know when Japanese learn english they use their own alphabet (hiragana/katakana) to pronouce english words. So they probably learnt it like furai mi tu da muunu and hence it sounds like FRY me to the moon hha

  • Bayonetta

  • Bayonetta

  • FRY ME TO TEH MOON AN LET ME PLEH AMONG TEH STAHRRZ

LET ME SEE WHAT SPWING IS LIKE ON JUPITER AND MAAAAAAS

IN OTHER WARRRRS, HOL MY HAAAAAN

IN OTHER WARRRR DAWLING KISS MEH

  • @earearman lol, you sir, get a Thumbs up. we were all thinking the same when we first heard this lol

  • Is this Engrish? I'm sorry, but this version is terrible.

  • @IRSPONGEBOB Is sang by a Japanese.

  • @mundotaku LOOOL

  • ò.Ö This was my face when i heard this...fail!!

  • Bayonetta brought me here.

  • @SeductiveSoul0 evangelion was first

  • this song is like ... the end of the world xDDDDDDDDDDDD

    nice but scares me

  • I never liked the ending song to this series. The intro was so awesome! Why did the ending have to be so terrible!?!? Why!?!?

Although, I must admit that I was begging my tv to play this song when I was watching episode 25 *shiver*

  • I'm amazed how this is in Bayonetta. Never knew this song was that old.

  • @ReaperSho

It's even older... Frank Sinatra made his own version in... if im not wrong 1964

  • @nicotjuh I thought it was originally sung by Frank Sinatra....

  • This is a true love song - sweet & simple.

  • Does she spin clockwise or counter-clockwise?

  • it depends on wich part of your brain you are using when you look at that figure

  • @gekkobo From which direction? O.o

    OMG it's a conspiracy LOL

  • @gekkobo both, it changes

  • frank sinatra es lo mejor!!!

pero esta version me gusta tambien

    eve eva evangelion!!

  • i love this version 5/5

  • zankoku na thenshi no tee-ze!!!

^^ the opening is the best but the ending :S

  • Best anime ever...

  • Best ending song ever. EPIC!!!

  • Indeed, and there is many remixes of it. But this is epic.

  • aguante evangelion !!

  • este tema sale en bayoneta frank sinatra es un gran compositor

  • I love how this song is all up in bayonetta =))))

  • @Crippeet cuz i love this anime which makes bayonetta o so much better.

  • So you hear it too. :D

  • Fry me to za moon !!

  • @yourrrrtube rofl, nice one

  • este ending es la rajaq no como el otro D:

  • la musica de antes si que es realmente interesante, es maravillosa lo que rara vez se ve hoy en dia

  • i have to agree with you Arcananine77 she indeed made me dislike her version and i thought that it was not possible with this song i even like this one and that stupid intro so not needed

  • Fry me tu the moon

  • One of the great mysteries in life: why wasn't Claire Littley's version of Fly Me To The Moon used as the outro all the time? She blew every other cover out of the water.

  • utada hikaru

  • damn i never realised adult swim always cut the credits short at around 30 seconds in, why couldnt they have just gone with this one, it rounds off a lot better

  • Lol, I had no idea Evangelion covered Frank Sinatra.

  • Utada Hikaru covered Nat King Cole who covered Frank Sinatra who covered Bart Howard. But its a good song, nobody could eff this up. Not even a karaoke singer.

  • I fucked it up in karaoke once.

  • Utada Hikaru fucked it up quite magnificently, actually.

  • @Arcananine77 what?!.....wait, is that supposed to make sense? i don't get it.....whatever, this song is still great.

  • hey atlest some one like kanye west didn't get to it right.

  • @BlahBohogun I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Kanye West would have the best version of this song of ALL TIME.

  • lol dude kanye would of murdered this song so bad his nigger ass would been ran out of the u.s. even by obama

  • @Arcananine77 she did but don hate man she got some other dope ass songs

  • @Arcananine77 wheres the original then? i mean if she sang the song from the start then she couldn't have fucked it up if there was never a original...is there an original?

  • @MuffinMan6k lol yes yes there is cant remember if is was tony or frank that did it first

  • @MuffinMan6k The one played in the anime w/o all that engrish is by Claire Littley.

  • the song is like an infiite loop of covers. That being said, Frank Sinatra's verson mihgt very well be my favorite, but they are all really good. I like how each artsist does it a little differently.

  • my favorite part is at the end when its like please be true its great

  • Who sings this version?

  • She must be Japanese because you can still hear a trace of that accent in there.

  • more than a trace

  • lol yea :P

  • I think its Utada Hikaru

  • No, it is not. The EVA (TV) has at least six covers of Fly Me to the Moon.

  • yeah, i liked the eariler ones, before auska comes into it

  • Calm down

  • como se llama el ending?

  • fly me to the moon ^^

  • "Fry me to the moon, and let me pray, among the star! Ret me see what spling is like on Jupiter and Mars!"

My favorite rendition of EVA's rendition of "Fly Me To The Moon".

  • Pryyyyyy me to da moon, and let me pray among the star! Ret me she what spling is like on Jupiter and Mars!

In odder words, I rub you!

  • Now i mean they sing play or not

  • Lol replace pray with "Prey"

  • Relax :D!

  • lo mejor de esa serie no es esa cancion sino es misato

  • What the...kinda weird

  • I like this ending scene about woman and moon...it remind me of Ashley who I used to miss her...:-(

  • It is Rei, and she is not walking, she is spinning.

  • of course I know she is rei, I'm just saying that she reminded me of my friend ashley thats all. yes she's spinning, I can see that. nice video

  • after doing a little reseach, it is actually from Felicia Sanders

  • no, es ingles y la letra es geniaal

  • Really relaxing afther watching an episode full of tension and fights, It's classic i willl never get tired of

I just feel like i'm the one person in the world who has not seen this anime yet, I regret to have forgotten NGE until now

  • can you tell me what they are talking about at the end of the series where they spend a whole ep with just talk? I watched both cantonese and english version and still dont know what they talking about. Thanks

  • SPOILER (just in case)

They talk about personality, about why does Shinji avoids relationships and why does he hate himself. The Instrumentality has begun, and he is the chosen to remake the world. But for that, he first needs to understand himself. The voices spend all the chapter talking, to convince him that he is just too much pessimistic about his own value.

I suppose u'll understand what the ending means just by the scene.

  • (Spoilers if you havent seen EoE)

Well after Rei rejects Gendo and goes to Shinji, Shinji says something along the lines of 'if they hate me they can all die.' Thus causing the instrumentality to start. Shinji then realizes that life is worth living as an individual and life is full of pain, man up. He isn't necessarily remaking the world persay, but more along the lines of humanity and the individuality of others. (Their own AT-Field,thoughts,insecurities,etc.)

  • thats not the true end, the true end its called, End of Evangelion, and its a movie.

  • WOW....

SharkRazor, I'm about to make life a whole lot more confusing for you.

That is the true ending, and those last 2-3 episodes were suppose to be the end of evangelion. Alright now you know.

  • No, he's right. They couldn't fit in the events of 3rd Impact due to budget constraints, and made it a separate movie. The movie and the last 2 episodes happen at the exact same time.

  • alguien sabe quien canta esta version? porque esta es la mas linda.. pero hay un monton de versiones...

  • Julie London

  • ya la estoy buscando.. muchas gracias!

  • no es japonesa? se nota mucho el japones..

    ''folever more''

  • esta version en particular no se quien la cante, pero las letras originales me parece que son de Julie London

  • I remember this...

Having it at the end of each episode made them each feel like a piece of art.

Weren't there different versions of the song played at the end of different episodes also?

  • Comment removed

  • Mare esta cancion siempre me pone sentimental :_S

  • amazing!!!

  • wow...when i first started watching the series i never like this song...but just now i started watching it again and i realized how good of a song it actually is.

    EVANGELION = WIN

  • I can't decided what version is the best, this one or the one sang by Sinatra.THE BOTH OF THEM REALLY LIKE ME.SINATRA HAS A MAGNIFICENT VOICE AND HIS ORCHESTRA PLAYS THE MUSIC IN AN INCREDIBLE WAY.THIS ONE IS SWEET AND GIVE YOU THAT SAD EMOTION.I THINK NO ONE SHOULD ARGUE FOR WHICH ONE IS THE BEST.THE BOTH OF THEM ARE REALLY GREAT!!!! ^^

  • Having this at the end of every episode really gives nge a sense of class... Also, this arrangement is the best I have heard, personally I think this is the way the song should always sound.

  • I like this version the best ^_^

  • i honestly believe this is how this song should be played. period. any other music form will fuck it up bad. when i heard this i thought if diana krall sang this the same way she sang "the look of love" itd be even more perfect....but then i found out she did already sing the song before and...well, lets just say she used a different style for it,and to be honest, it sucked. so bad.

  • What a joke

  • Mmm, such a nice song. :D

I remember this ending as a kid, though I suppose I should've waited 'til my age now to watch Evangelion. Ah ha ha...

  • Wow, I've been a fan of Evangelion for years and this is the first time I realized that this was originally done by Frank Sinatra!

  • This is probably the best ending to a well-known anime....no, it IS the best ending!

  • I'm a really big fan of Frank Sinatra and I think this is a great version of the song! Very pretty, and sad.

Great show! Messed up... but great!

  • I personally think she sings it better than he does.

For some reason, this song just sooths my soul so much better with a woman's voice.

  • She does sing it quite beautifully!

I enjoy her version a lot. It's more mellow and as you said, soothing than Frankie's jazzy version. I think her style of singing and voice better suited the song AND the words. Especially when she delivers those first few famous lines "Fly me to the moon . . . Jupiter and Mars"

I'm probably one of the few people who loves covers! I loving listening to the original version and the cover version of any song and taking them both for what they're worth. =)

  • I totally agree

  • seekieng said he remembered watching this series when he was thirteen, but on his profile page, his age is displayed as thirty-one.

    Another conspiracy revealed!

  • I think this is the nicest version of 'Fly Me to the Moon'. (:

  • yeahhhhh

  • Awesome show, awesome song.

  • lol. this song is great, but much better when sung by frank sinatra

  • Estos se burlan de la religión o q evangelioon es un buen anime pero da asco!!!!!!!

  • looser... it's one of the best ending themes for one of the best anime

  • He probably meant, "it's the shit."

    ...then again, maybe not... ^_^'

  • Didn't Utada Hikaru sing this song too?

  • Eva cheated, Frank Sinatra sang it first. lol

  • let me play among the stars...

  • Brings back memories.

  • muy buen endng sencillo sincero y relajante

  • la mejor version

  • I love engrish! <3

  • This was very dreamy when I was a kid, lust that's stylish

  • Where can I find this version?

  • how many different versions are their in evangelion?

  • 26. One for each episode.

  • Engrish ftw.

  • Damn straight.

  • Frank Sinatra > This.

But it's still charming to hear this in Engrish sung by a woman.

  • Sinatra... =)

y está versión está buena, muy buena.
