Why would I need XBox Live to play Modern Warfare 2. Its on the PC, and as far as PC shooters go its mundane with generic game play. Its multi-player options are subpar compared to other PC shooters. So yea, its crap. But I guess since its hard to implement a shooter on the consoles, you get so few you can't tell the difference.
Modern Warfare 2 isn't only on PC idiot, plus not all Console shooters suck, look at Halo 3 for example, AND Modern Warfare 2, both on Xbox 360, both great shooters. You obviously don't have a console yourself.
Halo 3 would be good if it was on PC standards? Its on the same level as Crisis, and that's pushing it. Crisis of course only being a benchmark instead of a played game.
Not to mention Crysis is probably one of the buggiest games around with some of the stupidest AI to match. But hey, at least it looked good! Too bad it still sucked.

Why MW2 is just prettied up with graphics. I agree it's a great game, but it doesn't deserve a lot of the awards, but it does deserve it's sales. There are other deserving games out there.

Not sure what constitutes a real gamer, but I own a Wii, 360, ps3, and a beast of a computer. Been playing since the early 80s when my father brought home an atari 2600. Was hooked on Zork 1 & 2 on the Commador 64. Tho the kids love the Wii I find it a big disappointment. Still have the original gameboy, a dream cast, several NES and SNES games, 2 ps2s, 2 ps1s... again not sure what a 'real' gamer is...anyhow I would not recommend a Wii for any gamer.
Obviously halo and games that are on the 360 will have a major advantage with votes on machinima, because most of the fans are 360 fanboys due to having most of the machinima videos on the 360 (arby n the chief) I think uncharted needs more attention though just because you can't play it is still awesome.

Damn straight. Valve WILL continue to kick ass and take names until someone, by some work of god, makes a game that can top one of theirs. As a response to this, Valve will unexpectedly release of Half Life 3 (or HL2E3, whatever). This will cause everyone to die due to over exposure to pure awesome.

I like MW2 multiplayer is awesome but it doesn't deserve GOTY, my theory on GOTY is that a game with a really good Story Mode and good Multiplayer should be GOTY, yes MW2's story was kick-ass but it was like fuckin 5 hours long. I think like Uncharted 2, and Borderlands should be leading cuz they have long stories (Borderlands story isn't the best developed but its really fucking fun to shoot skags heads off). Not saying MW2 isn't good. It just doesn't deserve GOTY

i have to disagree with ya man, U2 does beat gears, like gears is epic and all but U2 is like epic with a whole shitload of awesome...its less bulky and you can do more shit, and just wait for updates, and so what if its a stolen idea, lots of ideas are stolen, i think its just a reused concept on how the game should feel, like do you really think it would be any better differently, i dun think so, it works perfect for the style of game
