  • Actually she's Jamaican

  • didn't realise she was chineese

  • @kempouk Probably mixed with Chinese or Arawak, but she is clearly Black, especially once you look at the other pics online. And yes 100% Jamaican, 100% cutie.

  • What happened to her eye? It did not look like that in the 1964 version.

  • The first 'bubble gum' song.

  • The girl is SOOOOOO frigin cute and beautiful, if I was around in the 50's I would've tracked her down & married her ! Her smile is intoxicating !

  • @bob4friends: right...she is so beautiful Lol

  • What a beauty!

  • I also heard that Rod Stewart played the harmonica on this song.

I love this song..and I love Millie Small.

  • Name the harmonica player, let me think now was it mmmmmmm Sony Boy Williamson, am i right, do i win a Teddy

  • She makes us all proud to be humans. And great great work singing. This song is ageless.

  • Another reason I'm proud of my country and all the music ambassadors that came from Jamaica.

  • ...well you learn something new everyday.....Pete who ???

  • @formaface

i've never heard of him either! apparently he was the leader of the "pete hogman blues band".

(but then i guess he would be, wouldn't he!)

  • .....fabulous.... takes me back to when I was a kid......10 brownie points to anybody who can name the harmonica player.......he's someone who is very well known today....

  • @formaface

there was a long held rumour that the harmonica player was rod stewart but it turned out not to be true, sorry!

    it was actually pete hogman.

  • @norristerse ...oh no the embarrassment.....I've had that belief in my head since I was a kid,...I've got to run off now and check my souce's.....you know how to wipe the smile off someone's face, don't ya'.....sniff...

  • @formaface

i feel guilty now! but if it's any consolation, i believed it for years, too.

(would be even funnier if it turned out we were both wrong and it was bob dylan or little walter on their day off!)

  • @norristerse You know, I actually remember a DJ once saying after playing this that Rod Stewart was harmonica player. It would have had to been after he was a little bit famous...1971 maybe?

  • @smokeemonkee

yes, the rumour probably started around that time.

  • I was very young but remember watching this on Shindig :) Love this song!!

  • This Was The Very 1st Song I Heard From Millie Small Back In The Early Days On The Radio!! It Was A Huge Hit In The USA & In England (Great Britain!! She Was Really Awesome Back Then!! Bring Back Millie!!

    - BigWillieWillHom :)

  • This song must have made some impression on me at age 5 or 6 as it's my earliest memory of hearing a song on the radio.
