On corneria the fox can camp using lasers (because it's such a huge stage) and use the low ceiling on the wing to get easy upsmash/ up throw up air kills. The only way marth beats fox is if you outspace and outplay the fox, yes you have a slight advantage in terms of combos on FD but not that much and all a fox has to do is ban FD and it takes it out of the question.

I know that fox has the disadvantage on FD, however on every other stage fox can use platforms to extend his combos and use lasers to force marth to approach. I know the matchup is close but the only way marth wins is if the marth is spacing incredibly well and if they don't miss combos. If there was more than one stage with no platforms I think the matchup might be more even

If chain throws with marth are so cheap how come the matchup is still in fox's favor? m2k makes it look very easy to zero to death space Animals with marth but it's not nearly as easy as you might think. At best the chain gets you 30%. Peach's d-smash can get at least that on a lot of characters at low percents. Without chaingrabs that work on fox, he would be incredibly unchecked in terms of how he approaches

@RadicallyDreaming Reasons why its even for marth, a grab is very devastating, even on a level with platforms, marth can poke his sword through all side platforms, excluding dreamland(only one stage). Marth can gimp fox at any percent, can combo him into KO moves at reasonable percents, and has easy edge guard KOs. Frankly, they can kill each other just as hard as each other. The match up revolves around reads and pushing the advantage as much as you can each time you get it, without fucking up.

Here's the thing. At mid 20s percent, Marth can't regrab Fox if he doesn't DI until like 33% unless he does a dash pivot grab, which is really technically difficult, and then you don't get the regrab if they DI away. That's why M2K threw in the pummel at that percent, leaving more than enough time for the Fox to break the grab.

After a certain percent you can only regrab after an utilt, and after like the 60s, you're not getting a regrab.

but by then couldn't you not end the grab with a smash to send fox offstage, then prceed to edgegaurd the mess out of him for what usually is a finished stock. Marth is too good at keeping the space animals offstage and the CG gives him a way to set it up from 0% its amazing to pull off and if i had a chance I'd do it too, but it still looks gay to me.

Everyone has a grab and everyone has their set style and attribute which initially is balanced, but certain people can chain grab (it does not matter how much skills it takes fact is it can and has been done by a lot of people, that goes for anything) which makes their overall stats greater then the others. Plus this CG only works on Fox/Falco and only on this stage for any decent period of time, and dear Lord it is way harder to grab a good Falco than M2K makes it look. It's because M2K is so good that he was able to CG in the first place.

This is not exactly an imbalanced situation. I'll agree that the world is bad and has no values but I don't think it applies here.

But even if you don't feel comfortable taking Marth here, there are character counterpicks, stage counterpicks, and stage striking to insure that you avoid this situation. The balance is still good, like I said the CG is NOT insurmountable. We notice M2K beasting with the CG in this vid but we also should note that Shiz was keeping up decently well in spite of it. Poor recovery leading to low % deaths and lots of extra damage was just as big a factor. With proper play he could easily win here.

Poorly worded: What I meant was that the CG was not all to blame for Shiz's loss.

The CG damage on the first stock was inconsequential, Shiz's predictable recovery was the bigger factor on that and his fourth stock and if even that had been different the match would likely have been much closer.

The CG really took its toll on the second stock, but even then Shiz lived to ~160%, arguably because it's FD and Marth.

It's a tough matchup for sure, but Fox has the ability to overcome.
